[Game] Kings vs. Hornets 1/29/11 Game Thread.

Wow. Lock DeMarcus in a gym over the summer and we've got something special on our hands (not that we don't already).

I know it's generally frowned upon, but I was browsing a Laker's fan forum and was particularly tickled by the sudden shift in Lakers fans reactions from "MANDrew [which imho is the worst possible nickname you could assign to a guy who delayed surgery on his knee to watch the World Cup despite the fact that doing so would keep him out for the first half of the season] is going to make the rook his *****" to "Mandrew, hurt the guy so he knows you';re the top dog" (sadly there were actually posts like this). http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=127622&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75

I'll try to actually get a write up done before the game but I'll make no promises as I wound up covering a Saturday shift at work.

Award Time!!!
TDM Award: Shannon"Reggie Miller" Brown
LW-VC Award: Since we played a team that actually has the award's namesake on it, the award automattically goes to Luke "I Miss open three pointers by three feet" Walton
JHA: Jermaine Taylor, for 2 minutes of truely inspired suckiness.
MM: Andrew Bynum, who had two incredibly emphatic dunks and then succeed in looking like a scared little schoolgirl and DeMarcus proceeded to abuse him.
SAR: Derrick Fisher, who's only remaining NBA-level skill appears to be the ability to complain when a call doesn't go your way.
RA&1: Lamar Odumb
WTF Moment: DeMarcus channels Wilt for the first twenty minutes, Kobe decides to blind him.
WTF Moment 2: "Hey, the Lakers are coming back. Let's keep DeMarcus on the bench."

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

PS: Nothing is more hilarious (and pathetic) than a Lakers fan cry about not getting any calls.

I hope the ings can build upon yesterdays epic win. All to often the Kings follow a great win with a huge letdown. Please break this habit!

I, too, am expecting a let-down. Tough to bounce back against a quality opponent like the Hornets. We'll see how they respond.

Kings will not have such an easy time on the frontline. Emeka is smaller and more mobile than Andy, so Cousins taking the game to the perimeter won't be such an easy task, and Emeka has the strength to be a shot blocker inside. They also have DJ, Gray, and Jason Smith, all bigs who aren't afraid to bang down low and fight for boards. Smith has made that part of his game and his scrappy play and ability to shoot the midrange shot is why he's earned more time.

Kings aren't that great with their defensive rotations, and that may be a problem with this hornet team with the ball in Paul's hands and the team playing the pick and roll game. They have good shooters, and guys who can score off the bench, so I expect if the kings want to win this game, they have to get good play from their wings.

I went over there to read what the enemy had to say during the game. The typical Laker fan B.S: Suckramento; Queens; Casspi is a scrub; Cousins is a head case; Cousins will go Artest; we lost to a bunch of scrubs; Casspi pumping his fist because he doesn't get too many wins; etc, etc, etc. Very comical. Cousins was a stone in their shoes. I love it. I hate the Lakers even more. Go Kings.

Hopefully this is not a let down game because it has all the makings of one.

It would be a massive boost for our team if they can beat the Lakers in LA and Hornets at home in back to back game. It would give them a major confidence boost.

I'm expecting a loss, but hopefully we'll make it interesting. Over the past 10 games or so the Hornets have been a better team than the Lakers.

Anyways, go Kings!

Cousins just can't miss jumpers lately. I like that. Maybe the opponent will need to guard him.

The nitpick is that maybe he'll start settling for them. I always prefer the bigs to go inside. Higher % shot, FT and offensive rebounding opportunities. Of course Cuz drawing Emeka out helps Evans.
