Yeah, except he can shoot and has someone that draws all the defensive attention on his team. Cousins draws attention too except its all to the inside which is the only place Evans can score from. Even despite that he gets much of the same criticism Evans gets.

Early in the first quarter, DMC brought the ball up instead of passing it to a guard and tried a behind the back pass which turned into a turnover. He only had one foul at the time, but coach sent Hayes to the scorers table. Before chuck could get in DMC took a foul anyway, giving him 2, then ran to the bench.

Why the heck does this franchise seem to play down to the level of their competition? It would surely be nice to see them play BETTER...I know we're not a good team at the moment, but even when we were good, there were many games in which the team decided to play at the same level as their competion. Why?

I wann't watching closely but it appeared Cuz was not happy about being removed or something of that sort. If Smart loses the backing of Cuz, the FO is going to have an interesting choice. There is no question that Cuz is a leader of sorts and the rest of the team takes cues from him. Cuz is a barameter of the team and he can't be alone in his unhappiness. He's just thje most obvious. I mean, really, do you think Tyreke is happy about his role? Take those two guys against the coach and you have a big time mess. Maybe some don't care about Tyreke and see him as a problem but when you hear interviews of coaches of other teams, they don't see it that way at all.

Aha, Grey is asking Thornton about the Kings being frustrated. At least Grey doesn't depend on his livlihood from a check from the Maloofs or an organization they control.

Evans passes well in spurts. Rondo has been passing at an elite level for years now. He's the best passer in the league in my opinion. Saying its just because he plays with good players isn't giving him nearly enough credit. The Celtics were BAD the first few months of the season, and Rondo was still doing his thing.

Yeah, because he's had that group for years now. Don't get me wrong, I love Rondo and I agree, he's the best passer in the league. But we can't say for sure what caused what; correlation does not imply causation. Only way to find out would be to put him on the Kings with our "shooters" and let's see if he racks up the same numbers he's been putting up.

I don't even like the guy, but Steve Nash is the best passer in the league. Rondo is playing with three Hall of Famers, Nash is playing with the ghosts of Grant Hill and Michael Redd, and ten guys from the Phoenix YMCA.

In Smart's defense, he pulled Cousins after two things: 1. A stupid showboat behind the back pass that went nowhere good, and 2. A stupid foul most likely the result of Cousin's frustration after he realized he was going to be yanked for item #1.

it makes it much less appealing to post here on a consistent basis. i find i have to take breaks every couple of days to cleanse my palette of the bad taste some of the arguments around these parts leave in my mouth...

i returned to kingsfans.com after a lengthy absence, and its disappointing that the strong sense of community i used to feel here has been replaced by a whole lot of player fan trolling rather than kings fan cheering...

It's tough, because in the old days we were a playoff team, and later on when we started losing it was new to many who jumped on the bandwagon. But year after year has soured many, then you add everything with the Maloofs on top of it. While I do think some may go too far sometimes, and I know at times I can be tough to read, I'm not sure there's currently many tougher franchises to currently root for when you consider the Maloofs and possible relocation on top of the team. But I also don't think other teams have as many fans still hanging around in such tough times. Many criticize because they care, and cared enough to pay attention and do research. IMO, better than ditching the team alltogether.

Trolling is a deliberate attempt to pee someone else off. It's someone looking for their favorite subject and ignoring most else. That's my primitive way of looking at it. I will bet large amounts of money that I could argue against just about anything said but not be considered a troll. It's the attitude behind the note and not the note itself. When a person posts the same thing day after day, week after week, and month after month without saying anything else, he/she's a troll.

Yesterday I wrote a note about Keith Smart and mentioned Tyreke. The instant response was about Tyreke. Everything welse I said was ignored as taking a shot at Tyreke seems to be the reason for existence for some and they put on blinders to avoid the possibility that a note might not have had the ultimate purpose of commenting on Tyreke.

I'm too angry to be as coherent as I would like but I hate writing thoughtful and long notes and have someone pick out one sentence to argue about.

In addition, about 30-40 of us would meet to attend House Party Live, a TV show that ceased to be a few years ago.

I'm not talking about the discussions, etc. I"m talking about the warm feeling of sharing my love of this team with some of the best fans in the world bar none.

To whatever extent that this may be true, and I do not concede that it is, it speaks to a lowering of standards. "Different opinions on the direction of the team" bear no resemblance to trolling, and the notion that the two could be indistinguishable is indicative of a really low bar. We, as a community, should expect and demand higher standards.

Trolling is trolling, and player fan sniping is player fan sniping. They are mutually exclusive from arguments regarding the direction of the team and, with respect to your rebuttal to (ostensibly) Padrino, I assure you that he's been around here long enough to know the difference.

I'd like to get back to that as well. If we just lay down and let the team suck year after year without expressing our displeasure as fans we'll just end up as another Clippers, Bobcats, Hornets... ect. I don't want to have that kind of team or fanbase. I want to build a respected franchise like the Spurs, Mavs, or Jazz.

nor should we. this was not my point. i have been as critical as anybody of this team, particularly in this post-all star break stretch. i don't like uptempo styles of play because they almost always come at the expense of defense, and i've harped on it incessantly. such harping is not trolling, just like any critical outlook is not trolling. what i was speaking to is the fact that kingsfans.com has become polluted with player fans who insist on prizing their favorite players over the good of the team. we certainly had plenty of player fans trolling about during the kings' heydey, as well. there was a particular contingent of peja fans, for example, who could never get over the fact that chris webber was the kings' first option over their guy. they were wrong, of course, and the wins bore that out. but now the kings are perennial basement-dwellers, so its harder to fend off the trolls...

the attitude in general around here is rather surly. i just wish there was enough in the way of positives to help correct that attitude, but its not clear to me that looking up is an advisable course of action, at least not until the arena deal is absolutely set in stone, the maloofs sell to a more viable candidate for ownership, keith smart is replaced as head coach by a more viable candidate for head coach, and demarcus cousins and tyreke evans are inked to long term deals. those are foundational must-haves. you need an arena to play in. you need good ownership. you need good coaching. you need good gm'ing. and you need to lock up your star talent. the rest is more liable to fall into place when the structural elements are firing on all cylinders. but instead the kings are still trying to get the arena deal solidified, they're still owned by a bumbling family who has long fallen out of the graces of the team's fanbase, they're still giving out contracts to coaches not up to the challenge, they're still trying to fill in major gaps in the roster, and the futures of cousins and evans in sacramento are still hardly a certainty, no matter what their individual PR campaigns yield. frankly, it sucks, and you're right, we shouldn't be complacent. but kingsfans.com doesn't have to be unpleasant in its fervor...
