Kings - Grizzlies

Ron's mouth is unpredictable and immediate actions are unpredictable. That's why it is best to ignore what he says right after a game or any other emotional moment. When it comes to long term planning, I suspect he's no different than any other NBA player. C-Webb was a bit like that.

I know we could lose him to someone with the MLE but I think the likelihood is incredibly small. I did some calculating of the significance of giving up Bird Rights and needing to re-establish three consecutive years again and the amount of money he would lose is far more than chickenfeed even for these rich guys. Wish I hadn't thrown it away but the quick and dirty benefit of Bird Rights is that he would lose AT LEAST $10 mil. in the next three years by accepting a MLE offer. He would be pinned to that salary for three years most likely.

Ron strikes me as the kind of guy who might bust his butt to make a lot of money and then donate it to a charity.

I don't need to see your work, I believe what you're saying. You're correct, and it is more likely that if Ron does leave he'll get more than the MLE. I was just making the point there's a chance he could take it, depending on who offered it to him.

And I completely agree with your last point, despite his shortcomings, Artest seems to have a heart of gold. That's probably what I like about him most.
