Its a winner...Sac/Cle/NYK

bro please take your time and watch how u talkin to me...we are having a sensible convo here ...
with that being said...ok Hakeem "the dream" was a 6'9 Center and a dominate one at that..... so you trying to tell me because of his height he's really a PF???

Another example: Sir Charles was GRACIOUSLY listed at 6'4 he's really more 6'2 6'3 1/4. But he played PF!! not SF not SG but PF!!

As you can see the height doesnt have much to do what position you play it has allll to do with the skill set and the will and desire to be the best player you can be at your respected position

My friend, I'm a huge advocate of height doesn't always matter. I don't get caught up in, we can't draft someone because he's too small for the position. If you can play, you can play. However, if your 6' 5", which is what Barkley was listed at most of his career, and your a PF, you better be special. If you can't see the difference between one Sheldon Williams, and Charles Barkley, or Hakeem, then there's nothing I can say to you. I could, but I won't.

I all ready stated that the trade doesn't blow my socks off. Doesn't make you a bad person or a basketball illiterate. It just means we don't see I to I on the trade. No big deal..

I hate to speak out of turn but, when was Hakeem 6'9??? When he was 15. Hakeem was a 7 footer 6'11 at the very least on a bad day with a slouch. Sheldon Williams ceiling is and will be a banger OFF THE BENCH that can body up somebody and rebound a little. If Sheldon ever consistently starts then you can count Jason Thompson as a bust and we will take another PF in the next draft because Shelden isn't the answer in the starting rotation.

Aren't we all a bit tired of 6'9" centers around here? I don't want to see Corliss-sized players at the 5 except for very brief instances of necessity....

Okay Wally and Snow and a 2nd round pick for Zach maye works. I dont know why a three team trade involving 3 teams who aren't speaking would work. Lets simplify things, so i dont have to resort to sarcasm to express my dissatisfaction with OMG type trades.

Sheldon is all kinds of awful. He shouldn't be a part of any teams significant future. He is barely worth mentioning let alone talking about how he might be something special. It's friggin Sheldon Williams LOL. Give me a break.

I just happened to watch a film on Hakeem's life in basketball. Pretty interesting. Probably stuff I had heard before but forgotten. He was 6' 7" tall at sixteen years of age and grew to 6' 10" by the time he was eighteen years old. When he entered the NBA, he had played basketball for only five years. Two in highschool and three in college. Pretty amazing when you think about it. I mean, he pretty much dominated from the time he came into the NBA.

He went to the NCCA finals twice and lost twice. The second time to Pat Ewing and company. In fairness to Hakeem, the only player on the team the second time around that was any good, was Hakeem. Ewing, on the other hand, had a pretty good team around him. He was a special athlete, the likes of which, we may never see again.

Dude you got to much time on your hands. I appreciate the life history of Hakeem. I was refering to the smart mouth guy comparing Sheldon to Hakeem in saying Hakeem was only 6'9.:)

I believe Hakeem was just under 6'9 without shoes, so he was around 6'10 with shoes. He wasn't as tall as the NBA made him out to be all those years, but with his length and athleticism he definitely made up for it.

Yeah, ESPN is often as reliable as Wikipedia.

What was the original argument again? I'm lost.

I believe it had something to do with someone saying that Sheldon can be good even though he's undersized because Sir Charles and Hakeem were undersized.

Unfortunately the secret to Sheldon's suckiness isn't due to him being undersized but rather because he is not good.

Amen to that.

Good TDOS stimulation. Bad trade idea. No one benefits, no one gets better and creating fantasy positions, or out-of-position situations, is something I'd only expect Lil' Abner to do. Brad stays this year as the best solution to helping all the young BIGS get much better.

Amen to that.. I love being redundant..:D
