The more I hear about this guy, the more I see of him, the more I salivate this guy anchoring the middle for the Sacramento Kings for the next 10 plus years. Here are his statistics for the last six games:

15 pts, 13.1 reb, 6.5 bks per game

All in the toughest conference in the country. If the season was over today, and the Kings had the #1 pick, I would choos 7-3 Thabeet and would not think twice.:D

I say we just go for broke...try to get another top 5 pick and draft Thabeet and Griffin and see what happens. Anyone on the current roster being expendable. Not gonna happen, but I'd be all for it.

I take Rubio. Has the best chance to be special of the 3.

I would like to add that I'm becoming more open to Thabeet. I've always wanted to like him, but I'm just not convinced he has the lower body strength or the coordination.

None of the above. Again, if I had the #1 I'd trade down. Someone is going to want Griffin #1.

And I still like Teague the most out of this draft.

A minor nit. I would pick Griffin, and trade him for the rights to Thabeet whenever he was picked. Either way, we're on the same page re: the #1 pick.

In my dream world we get the #1 pick, then we trade it down for a lower pick to get Rubio and Al Thorton or Jeff Green...then we package Miller or Salmons with our other 1st round pick to get Thabeet...

Rubio/Beno/Browne/Jackson
Martin/Garcia/Jackson
Thorton/Garcia/Greene
Thompson/FA?
Hawes/Thabeet

Hell yeah...that team would be so awesome to watch I wouldn't even care if we win or not.

I would trade the #1 pick too for a 5-10 pick and some other picks or players. I dont know if anyone in this draft has the "star" potential you want in a #1 overall pick, when we could possibly obtain more overall value by trading down.

1. Griffin (trade down to the team that wants him.)
2. Harden
3. Thabeet
4. I don't know who to pick from here...(Not sold on Teague, Monroe, Hill etc)

Oh shoot.. I didn't see Rubio.. Could someone please change my pick from Griffin to Rubio please? :) thanks!

Regard listed heights in the poll. I am almost 99% certain Ricky Rubio at 18 years of age (or 18 yrs / 4 mos) is not 6'3" but at least 6'3.75" or 6'4". He was listed at 6'3" when first playing professionally at age 16. He may continue to grow at least another half inch or so - so 6'5" in the NBA might be very realistic. Pete Maravich who did not start playing pro until he was 23 was 6'5" and Rubio is constantly compared to him in nearly every way - height, facial looks, floppy hair, flair on the court, etc.

As I've stated previously, I'm extremely doubtful Blake Griffin is 6'9" and reports of 6'10" are utterly ridiculous. I put him at between 6'7.75" and 6.8.25."

Hasheem Thabeet, it does not matter one bit as nearly all agree he's at least 7'2."

Rubio could never compare to Maravich as a shooter/scorer.

Word. As much as I am intrigued with Rubio, I cannot see anyone really comparing him to Pistol Pete. Superficial things like height and hairstyle notwithstanding, I watched Pete Maravich play and Ricky Rubio is no Pete Maravich.

;)

It's more of the uber-creative passing/dribbling that gets the Maravich comparisons, which aren't unfounded at all.

Agreed. No one could. I guess most amazing thing about Pistol Pete was that if there had been a 3pt line his senior year at LSU he would have averaged a staggering 57 pts per game instead of his off the charts 44 pt. ave. Even his best NBA scoring season in which he led the league at 31.1 was without the 3pt line.

I think Rubio could be a kind of 12-15 (occasionally 20 or so) point guy like Beno Udhih, but racking up lots of double-doubles with 10+ assists.

I still have not voted in this poll because I really want to see what UConn (Thabeet) and OU (Griffin) do in the Final Four assuming both teams get far in the tourney.

Rubio has been slow to come back from his surgery in Oct. during pre-season. Someone earlier asked about it so here's the details:

a front line that is at least 6"10 damn quicker SFs can and will blow by but try getting over those damn giants....

I just do not like seeing Thompson as a SF...sure he can play it and everything but that doesn't mean he is good at it. He is just to big and not quick enough imo to make it work for us.

As of right now, my list of who I would like to see us pick would go in this order:

1. Rubio
2. Thabeet
3. Griffin

Really close for me between Rubio and Thabeet actually, but I just wouldn't be able to pass on Rubio if we had a chance to get a PG that good. Since Rubio is not likely to declare though, I would like us to come out of the draft with Thabeet. A monster presence like him in the box would go a long way towards helping this team improve defensively as we move forward. It isn't just about stats with blocked shots or rebounds either, it is about having someone who can physically intimidate and get into the heads of opposing teams.

Then we do the best we can to find a PG with the Houston pick, some sort of draft day trade to trade up higher to get someone like Teague or Lawson, or via FA/Trade. If worse comes to worse, there is always next years draft and another shot at Rubio.

Rubio is a great wildcard because we just haven't seen him play enough. But certainly given our needs, I think I go Thabeet at this point. He is playing like Gambit no longer and beginning to justify those early Dikembe comparisons.

We are the worst defensive team in basketball. In fact other than Nellie run n gun teams I have not seen a defensive team as consistently ineffectual as we are in the NBA in a decade. We are allowing 112pts a game under Natt. When you pick high you always want to grab a star if you can find one. But if that is looking shaky, grab the impact player. The guy who can make a difference for you on at least one side of the ball. And Thabeet is such a unique player -- nudge me next time you see a chance to sign a 7'3" 260lb shotblocker in free agency. You get a guy like that in the draft or not at all just like most stars.

Convince me Rubio will be an elite PG, and I'll say do that. Tell me Griffin is the next Amare, and I'll do that. But otherwise, Thabet could be a defining figure inside for some team, year in and year out. Not Dwight or Yao, but a stopper back there. You never have the red carpet out down the lane again and can go work on fixing the other problems.

I've always like this idea of Thabeet Gambit eversince it was concocted in this forum. And the line-up above I think is very salivating and it would be very frustrating if we don't get Thabeet.

Players like Thabeet, 7' 3", who loves playing like a true 7 footer ( blocking shots after shots ) only comes once in a blue moon. I've seen the kid play several times and you can tell he loves being a shot blocker. Give this kid 2-3 years in the NBA and if he works like Thompson is working now, he will be a household name.

Blake Griffin?

We already have Thompson ( and or Hawes ) whose talents are way above Griffin's. Hawes and Thompson will surely be good rebounders. It would be too much of a duplication of talent if we get Griffin.

Ricky Rubio?

The teams priority right now should be defense. I'll go for players like Rubio after I solved the glaring problem in defense. I am willing to wait another year for Beno Udrih to get back to his better form.

#1 Thabeet
#2 Rubio
#3 Griffin

JT is quick enough to run up and down the floor... and it doesnt matter any ways if he isnt quick enough to guard SFs... it will be tough for a guard to get inside and slash... rebounding would no longer be a problem since size is on our side...

Hawes cant play PF but with what were seeing right now he has a pretty good J... and he can switch to 5 and 4 with thabeet while in the game.. that way the opposing team can get a lot of mis matches and confused match ups....

Do'nt you think there'd be a spacing issue with basically three post players? Especially one that can't do jack outside of 5 feet, if that? Defensively it'd be a nightmare, everyone would launching wide open jumpers. It's a complete fantasy.

Yeah, JT at the 3 is not a long term solution.

Brackins/JT/Thabeet on the other hand.....

6'10"/6'11"/7'3" front line? Yes, please.
