David Thorpes Recent Chat (Kings Questions)

I was reviewing the chat David Thorpe did on espn.com today and it was very very boring and didnt really tell us anything we didnt already know, but there isnt much else to talk about so here are the questions asked involving the kings ..

Leigh (Charlottesville): Does the Artest trade kill Sean Singletary's chance at playing time this year? He seemed as if he'd get minutes with the Kings, but the Rockets have a much deeper bench. Obviously the Kings were not sold on him, have you heard anything negative/positive on SS since the summer league? Thanks from a concerned VA Cavalier!

David Thorpe: I think he's a long shot to make the team.

Francis (Sacramento, CA): What do you think of Beno Udrih? Can he be one of the breakout players this season?

David Thorpe: Will he play over 75 games?

Mike Hacks (Chicago, IL ): Can you give some better and interesting answers?

sn2.gif
David Thorpe: Yes.

Vince (Sac, CA): Hey Dave, do you think Kevin Martin can take over the leader role for the Kings, cuz they need somebody too..? and i think he can average around 27 points next year, do you?

David Thorpe: I'm worried less about his ppg than his leadership. He wants to be a better leader, but we'll see how that develops.

Ned (Indianapolis): Does Spencer Hawes begin to establish himself as a legit NBA center this season?

David Thorpe: I hope so, but the summer league was not encouraging.

Wow who the hell is this guy? My grandmother has never seen this team play and can answer these questions better and more in depth than that.

A little knowledge is dangerous - no knowledge is laughable.

David Thorpe is one of the premier NBA analysts around. He works for ESPN and also runs a well known camp in Florida for college basketball players and NBA prospects.

This talk was just that, a little talk, chat, with no expectation of in-depth analysis. If you want assurance that Thorpe knows what HE'S talking about look at link below. Note what he says about Jason Thompson and Donte Greene based on their college careers and recent summer camp experience.

It's TDOS. I'm grateful for any Kings tidbits, whether they're from someone's grandmother or any one else...

He works with NBA players too.

Well he's certainly thinking high on them there!

I just showed my grandma Kevin Martin's photo and she said Kevin looks smart and she thinks he will make the all-star team this year. :D

Was Spencer's summer league really not all that encouraging? I didn't get to see all of the games, and the Internet video feed quality wasn't the best, but I didn't get that pessimistic of an impression. I know you can't read much into summer league numbers, but 17 and 8.4 in 33 minutes isn't the end of the world.

His offensive game was off-rhythm like he was trying too hard at times, but it's not unusual for big men to get lost in these pickup games sometimes. I thought he looked better physically than last time we saw him, and he rebounded at a much better rate than last year's summer league, so I don't see any worries.

Spencer had a really good 1st game, and really good last game. The rest he looked pretty worn out, did his work on the boards but his shots were off. He was even blowing simple layups. The fact that he finished strong should be a positive sign however.
