The SG spot worries me as Collison isn't big enough to handle proper SGs. That may be the lineup at the end of the game, but I doubt we start with that. Plus, it would render our awesome back up PG in Collison useless, as now he would be the starter. Curry isn't ready for that many minutes.
Well if nothing else these first 4 games seem to have identified a pretty clear group of core rotation guys:
Cuz
WC
Koufos
Gay
Casspi
Belinelli
Rondo
Collison
and then Ben should be #9, but that situation has to be resolved. If he's not the starter we are left scrambling and he's just some dude who scorer 6-7 pts
But Acy and Butler have not shown they belong in the rotation and feel too much like Kings benchers of the past, putting up anemic numbers and watching leads blow by.
Anderson and Curry might look a little more interesting right now. Think Anderson at least could play in a pinch. Moreland might have a chance as the emergency/4th big.
Yes I have a growing concern about the starting SG. I mean sure it seems like Marco would be obvious, but his punch off the bench hits hard and is a great asset. He can't have ball that much with starting unit. Ben isn't terrible he just gets lost in the shuffle with Rudy and Demarcus getting 90% of the starting units shots. Don't really need a ball handler with rondo and cuz starting. So I guess best spot for Ben is with the starters if for nothing else than the comfort level with Rudy and Cuz
I wouldn't be surprised to see this group be the starters.
Rondo
Collison
Rudy
WCS
Cuz
And have some nice shooting off the bench in Curry, Bellineli and Butler being able to keep the scoring up. Maybe even try Ben at the 3 for extended mins in that reserve unit.

I think Rondo can cover some SG's. Ben and Anderson will cover them also. That said I would not be surprised if Vlade has his eye on a SG or two already

That would ruin the strong hand we currently play with the bench. Collison is wasted as a starter next to the ball dominant Rondo, Cousins, and Gay. Coming off the bench will give him freedom to attack and he seems to have good chemistry with Belinelli.
The best course of action right now is to keep Ben in the starting lineup and pray he comes online. Look around for a starting SG, but for now the Kings can get by with a low-volume roleplayer who can shoot in the lineup. If Ben gives us what he gave us tonight (8 points, 1/2 from three, 2 assists, 0 turnovers) where at least he's not actively hurting the team, they will be fine. If he doesn't improve by the All-Star break see what SG options are available.
Curry looks solid, in a way he has the same game as his brother just if Steph was a 9-10th man caliber. I could see him getting minutes, especially with the starting SG question being the clear ? of the pre season. Has better handle than I thought and I think will develop into a nice bench scorer who can come in and light it up. Most importantly he looks to have a high IQ, makes sensible basketball decisions.
Is anybody on board for a Ben for Kevin Martin trade? I think Kevin is a forgotten King who deserves one last run here. Minnesota is doing nothing with him, they will start La Vine at SG.

Yeah I was furious when the Kings traded him way back in the 08-09 season. I really wish the Kings get him back before he is less than a 20 point scorer.

I'd rather have Collison and Marco off the bench since it's such a scoring punch that other teams won't be able to handle, but that starting SG spot needs to be figured out.
edit: Kevin Martin and Marco are kind of redundant. At least Ben offers defensive potential and activity. Kevin is terrible on defense.

keep DC coming off the bench...he and Marco will provide offense. Kosta can provide another big body as well. Cauley Stein needs to start...his impact is evident.

Me, I would rather have Tony Allen than KMart. A defensive beast who locks down the other teams best wing. Also I willing to see what McLemore looks like in the regular season. It is going to be interesting to see how Karl manages the SG position.
WCS is quickly becoming my favorite King. He already looks dominant at times defensively as a 22 year old rook. Imagine him 3-4 years down the line and if he can develop a 15 ft jumper and maybe a go to move inside(half hook would be fine).
This was one of the most horrible professional broadcast feeds I've ever seem.
They actually left the Make Some Noise graphic up for over 15 seconds while the game went on invisibly behind it.
They regularly put the graphics up (De-Fense!) which completely blanked out the action, then when it finally went away and they resumed the feed, the play was over and the ball had changed hands somehow.
I can't imagine what producer is in charge of this feed, to let that happen more than once in a game.
It's indefensible.
Yeah I don't get it. Offseason needs were get another pg, defensive and shot blocking bigs and sure up the bench. Those were all met. Where was the need to change cousins game?
Let's not get carried away here. Seth is still a vastly undersized SG with questionable defensive capabilities and a "great shooting stroke" that has yet to actually manifest itself in an actual NBA game.
While Ben hasn't exactly turned out to be the second coming of Ray Allen like some pundits believed he would be coming out of the draft, he's still a full-sized shooting guard with plus athleticism, average defense, and an occasionally plus shooting stroke.

My only concern going into the season is the progression of BMac. He has a definite pass first point guard who is not going to score a whole lot, and he has a PF/C in WCS that is gonna be the same. He has a real opportunity to shine and take that next step forward.
Not only that but we kinda need him to take that next step forward and produce as a starter! If he aint gonna do it then put Marco in with the starters. Ben needs to do more than just float around or be just good enough to where he's a slight positive on the court.
Its been 2 goin on 3 years now for him at that SG position and the entire time we have been getting hardly anything from him.
I'll make my final call on him when the seasons a bit underway.
I can't believe how good Kosta and WCS are on help defense and covering up mistakes I have been so use to watching garbage help D from our bigs for the last decade I'm in literally shock how good both these guys are. WCS ability to cover distance is unlike anything I have ever seen dude can literally guard two people at once without a question after 3-4 games he's easily my favorite King. Kosta just does it with timing and being one step ahead of where he should be the guy just does so many little things I really believe lots of teams will be kicking themselves (in particular contenders) not signing this guy.

Edit: Kmart only making 7million so it is possible to trade for him in that case yeah I would do it. KMarts lack of D could easily be covered up by our 3 monster bigs.
