Hall of Famer
Ultra short version because I did not watch the previous game. I am glad we won. That 0 in front of our record is gone now.

I want to categorically deny the unsubstantiated rumor that I have a life. :pIt is not true. Some mean spirited people are trying to ruin my hard earned reputation:D.

Someone please at least do the awards for me !

got a great shot at our 2nd win of the season here, kevs back in form and that factor pretty much cost us the game in our opener

Is Brad going to step right in as a starter or will he come off the bench for a couple of games and get into the flow? Also, when Reggie finally comes to the conclusion that Mikki needs to be removed from the starting lineup, do you think he will move Brad to the 4 and start Spencer at 5, or will he keep Brad at 5 and move Jason to the 4?

Brad Miller is our starting center. He's not going to come off the bench.

As far as Mikki Moore goes, he is - at least for the foreseeable future - our starting PF, and he should be. Yes, Jason Thompson has a lot of promise BUT he's not ready to start. Bringing Spencer and Jason in as a second frontcourt is an exciting thought if people would just get over the whole "Mikki Moore is no good" theory being espoused by some.

Moore is a good teammate, he is always inside battling, he has heart and determination and he's a really good role model for the likes of Jason Thompson. Yes, Mikki sometimes makes mistakes but who doesn't? He fills a role right now that we really need him to fill and as Jason gets more comfortable in his role within the team, I'm sure will see a further shift of minutes.

It's not about who starts. It's about how many minutes the kids get and how they're being utilized.

And, IMHO, "when Reggie finally comes to the conclusion that Mikki needs to be removed from the starting lineup" he's NOT going to move Brad to the 4. Brad is NOT a power forward.

As long as Mikki is coming off the bench, Im fine either way. I think that would be the right move. At least let one of our young promising bigs continue to develop as a starter.

MIkki fills a need? Lol What need is that? Sorry to say but hes garbage. Bring his energy off the bench for all i care but he should be getting as little minutes as possible. He cant rebound, he cant defend, he cant finish in the paint. Yeah he seems like a nice guy and a great teammate but he has got to be one of the worst starting power forwards in the league. Hes garbage all game and when he does finally dunk or something he lets out a roar like hes been beasting all game. HAHAH come on Mikki.

While I agree with you that it's not the time right now to bump Mikki out of the starting lineup, I do think it's an important issue. I'm not going to take the Grant Napear notion that "It's not who starts, it's who finishes" in this case. While that sounds like a great idea, NBA players do care who starts and it's an opportunity for Reggie to make a point when the time comes.

I do also like Mikki Moore's heart and passion out there. I agree that he is a wonderful teammate. Also, having met Mikki on a few occasions, he's a cool guy. But all these things are meaningless when you have a starting power forward who grabs 4 rebounds in a 4 game stretch. Hell, if you put me in the starting lineup, I'd play with heart and determination also. I'd be towel waving and chest bumping with Spencer Hawes and do whatever it took to be a good teammate. I'd probably also grab more than 4 rebounds.

The point is if you suck, you suck. And, unfortunately, Mikki Moore is not a very good NBA player and he's especially not an NBA starter. The team has already shown that they are a better when Jason is on the floor instead of Mikki. When the time is right, Reggie will make this move. My prediction is about 15-20 more games from now. I think Mikki is best suited for about 10 minutes of high energy off the bench. He's just too much of a defensive and rebounding liability to be out there more than that.

I do not agree with the statement "Brad is not a 4". He played the 4 very well alongside Vlade remember? I think that it would be ideal to make Mikki the primary backup 5 and start Brad at the 4 alongside Hawes.

And why not? Tis' a season for experimentation.

BTW Reggie has said that he has not come to a decision on tonight's Starting 5. So anything is possible.

Brad was a 4 in what 2002? That was 6 years ago, he has slowed down and can't guard the athletic PF's of today which is why he is a center.

I fully understand its fashionable around here to dump on Mikki Moore. He is not the power forward of our future but I stand by my statement that he fills a current need. Why? BECAUSE WE'RE REBUILDING!!! He's not good enough to go back with us to elite status but guess what? We're not ready for elite status on Nov. 7, 2008.

Mikki has heart, hustle, energy, determination and he takes a charge as good as anyone in the league. He's an excellent mentor in that regard to our future bigs. And he's a legitimate big...

I watched Jason Thompson really up close and personal and he really has "it." But he has a lot to learn. I think he'll learn it and I think when Moore's contract is up he'll be sent on his way.

I'm heartily tired of people calling some of our players "garbage." To me it's one step removed from something a troll would say. Mikki is wearing the uniform of the Sacramento Kings. He's doing the job he was brought here to do to the best of his ability. Is he Tim Duncan? Well, duh. Nope. What he is, though, is someone who brings it all every night, always supports his teammates, contributes on the court in ways you don't always notice, and is, in general, someone who is truly earning his paycheck.

Earning his multimillion dollar paycheck by being a "glorified towel boy" ? I think not. Not he's no Tim Duncan -- he's not even a "Mark Madsen"..and that's saying something.

You are about the only reasonable guy I find in this forum... I hate all the haters and point fingers who always has someone to blame when things dont go the way they'd want to go... I defend a point of view where those kind of fans arent true fans, thats just me tho...

You're right. Mikki Moore's no Mark Madsen. Looking at career per 36 minute numbers, Moore and Madsen rebound equally well, but Moore scores 175% as many points and records 160% more blocks while shooting 90 points better from the field and 200 points better from the free throw line. On top of that he plays 150% as many minutes per game.

Moore's no Madsen. He's clearly better.

But you're right, he's not as good as Tim Duncan.

Um, Mark Madsen has a ring. Why does he have a ring? Because he had a job to do and he did it to the best of his ability...as PART of a complete team.

You're entitled to your opinion but you might want to pick another example for your argument.

I understand what you're saying but please don't go down the "true fan" road. There is no one "true fan" - there are as many different types of fans as there are stars in the sky. And no one is necessarily better or worse than the other.

A good message board has people with widely divergent views who can still manage to debate, discuss, etc. It's all good ... well, almost all good.

:)

If JT is the PF of a great Kings future, and I'm sure we all hope he will be, he'll be starting soon enough, I suspect.

In the meantime, I don't like calling Mikki garbage either. He is what he is and he's actually a testament to hard work and determination by being in the league at all. It's not his fault that he can't meet the unrealistic expectations of saome fans. He was a temporary stop gap. Still is. And I expect Jason will take over reasonably quickly as he gains experience in the league.

We can let Mikki go at the end of this season. For now, he's not going to make our season noticeably better or worse. I don't think he'll have a problem coming off the bench when that time comes. He seems to be a true team player, willing to do whatever is asked of him that is within his capabilities.

When he's gone, I'll thank him for working really hard, being a great teammate, being a good guy in the community and representing the Kings/Sacramento well.

Indeed, every player has something they can bring to the table... some of them are just talent gifted, others work hard and Mikki is a guy who works hard, plays with passion... thats enough for me to see when you can't have anything better to go with...

Mikki is earning his paycheck tonight. We're not a big shotblocking team, especially when Mikki is on the floor with Brad Miller so when Mikki takes a charge it's just as good as sending a shot back and then controlling it.

Bobby Brown is playing real under control and composed right now. That could be a big boost for the Kings backcourt if he keeps it up.

Great offensive half, but too bad we let them score 55 points.

Great shot block by Salmons. Loved the hustle to get there. :D

did Jason get hurt? Box score shows 0 pts 1 reb in only 5 mins of PT

No, Jason isn't hurt. He needs to slow down just a bit. And the stat line is deceiving. He altered a couple of shots, battled inside, and was instrumental in at least one bucket although it wasn't an assist. That's why I hate cold statistics...
