whats your favorite memory?

I remember mine vividly...

I was in Anaheim because our orchestra plays at Disneyland every year around March/April. The Kings were playing the Celtics, but during the day we were out, so I couldn't watch the game.

At night, ESPN replayed it, so I stayed up by myself watching the replay (everyone else went to sleep, as we had an early performance the next day). It was just an ordinary regular season game.

That is, except for Chris Webber hitting a 3 off the glass for the game winner. Final score, 93-92. I yet out a whoop so loud I woke the rest of the students in my suite.

To this day, it was the only taped game that I could sit through watching with the excitement of a real game.

Did a little digging, and found the box score. No video on youtube, I'm afraid. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2003040402

When I was a young boy I was watching a regular season game against the Bulls at Arco. Dennis Rodman wrestled Mitch Richmond to the floor and laid on him there the whole play in order to keep the Kings from capitalizing on a missed opportunity. They got up and Mitch just laughed it off, the Kings were winning by some miracle. Woke me up to the emotion these players can display, makes it very entertaining.

Jordan always said that Mitch reminded him of himself.

One of my favorite memories involves a trip to Arco for a playoff game. A friend of a friend had decided to make it a special event for his parents, and hired a limo. We all arrived at the stadium in style, and as we got out of the car you could tell people were trying to figure out if we were "anyone" in particular.

We were playing the Mavericks that game and, as luck would have it, a Mavs fan in a Nowitzki jersey, was sitting right next to Kingsgurl. (Yes, this gets better...) :o

Maloof Sports handed out plastic megaphones for that Sunday afternoon game. (Something I don't think they've done since.) For the first half of the game, the Mavs held the lead and the Mavs fan was an obnoxious pain in the posterior.

In the second half, however, the Kings came alive and Bibby and Webber started to take over the game completely. That's when the megaphone really came into play. With every successful pass, every basket, etc. Kingsgurl would turn to the now rather sheepish looking Mavs fan, hold the megaphone up and ... well, "cheer" doesn't begin to describe what she did but you get the idea.

The poor Mavs fan tried to stand up for his team, but he was clearly outnumbered. His girlfriend started beating on him to shut up, and - during a particularly good part of the early fourth quarter - the Mavs fan and his girlfriend left the game.

We went on to win. It was 2002. The feeling in Arco that day was something I will never ever forget. I can only hope and pray those times will come again for this new generation of Kings.

I have so many good and bad memories but the one I liked the most involved Doug Christie and Rick Fox

Favorite memory of the Kings or can I insert the Monarchs here (our other Sacramento MS&E team?

2005 final game of the championship...when the Monarchs won and became 2005 WNBA champions, and the confetti started raining down......damn, what a feeling.

That is a feeling that I had hoped for in 2002. For some reason, it was not meant to be. But, ever a hopeful fan, I want to feel that for the Sacramento Kings one day. And, I STILL BELIEVE!

My favorite memory was in Game 2 of the 2003 Western Conference Semifinals against the Mavericks. :|

My favorite happy memory could be one of many choices. The first one I can think of is as a kid standing up in Arco (probably the old one) covering my ears while everyone was cheering around me because it was so loud. I don't remember a specific where it happened (it probably happened a few times), but I definitely remember the feeling of excitement throughout the entire crowd and even though I was covering my ears I was thrilled to be a part of it.

!!!! I remember that too!! Mine is when we first traded for artest and were on a winning streak and the lakers came into town and it was a TNT game and i got to go to it. when artest just totally shut down kobe and was blocking his shots and i think that game was really important for us to get into the playoffs. It felt so good because soooooo many people put us off and i thought the kings were done before that. man that crowd was pumped

Wow, there are so so many. The western semis in 2002 at Dallas were so fun. Of course, that whole playoff run was fun.

But one of my favorites was, I believe, Game 4?? of the first round at Utah. That was such a Sloan series --Physical, slow, draining.

We just couldn't get rid of the Jazz. But with the shot clock winding down and the ball knocked to half-court... Vlade just picked up the ball and heaved it at the basket. And swish.

That's when I knew that year was special.

I remember watching my first Kings playoffs game against the Sonics with my late grandfather, a rabid Kings fan who tragically passed away in the offseason we acquired Divac and Webber; never got to see the glory years :(. But that game was a lot of fun, there was just a lot of energy, and being a seven year old who idolized Mitch Richmond, I would yell everytime he scored :D

Chris Webber hushing the seattle crowd, after fortson smacks him in the face and a little scuffle breaks and then Webber Swishes the three late 4th quarter and does the prowl

Round 1 2006 playoffs
Game 3 Spurs @ Kings

93 - 92 Spurs, 27 sec left. SPURS ball. Ginobili takes the ball up court and is hounded by Artest. 6 sec to shoot, Ginobili drives, STEAL by Bibby... upcourt to Martin... layup thu the FACE of Duncan as the clock hits 1.5 sec...

WIN Kings. I was at that game, voice/throat was sore for days.

"Who's my Mother F**ker, Jabari."

Jason Williams after a garbage time dunk by Jabari Smith. Shown on TV for every one to see (but not hear). Classic.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!!!!!:D Bet that poor guy STILL has hearing loss in that ear. Wonder why they don't give out megaphones anymore?

First among many for me is game 3 of the 1996 playoffs. We made the playoffs as an 8 seed for the first time in forever against the Gary Payton-led Seattle team. Then we won one of the games in Seattle and came home tied 1-1. When the teams came out for warmups, it was the loudest I've ever heard ARCO. The energy level was amazing.

In person, this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m7urmhClVE

I've seen some great battles with Webber and KG, and the old Lakers teams, but for a single moment, Price's dunk was it. It was really the only thing where I couldn't believe it happened. I was on the opposite side of the arena, so I could see him make the move inside. I saw him jump, and when he hit Boozer, I thought he would stop, but he just kept elevating and threw it down. I couldn't believe that dunk at the time.

1st round of the 2004 playoffs when peja single handedly beat the mavs by playing defense... it was weird watching him shut down dirk with the game on the line... game 7 of the 2002 wcf is up there too.... eventhough we lost i loved watching that game.

is it only kings games? because my all time favorite game was game 1 of the 2001 finals... iverson was amazing in that game....

+1

It was loud an hour before the game. The arena was almost full then. Before the players even came out all of a sudden people would start cheering.

I remember MJ getting a loose ball out by half court where it says arco arena on the floor. He had like 3 seconds on the shot clock. Pulled up for a jumper and nailed it.

Jr Rider falling out of bounds by half court and flinging the ball underhand for a 3.

Walking out of game 7 of the WCF and seeing a kid about 10 years old balling his eyes out.

Believe it or not this one goes back to before i was a kings fan, 1997 my Jr high band which i played in (drums) performed during halftime for a small ammount of time, we sucked but time but it was amazing beeing out there even though at the time i didnt care for basketball.

Chris Webber's flagrant foul on John Stockton in Game 2 of their playoff series with Utah in that 1st year under Adelman. They got rolled in Game 1, and Webb sent the message that that wasn't going to happen again. They won and quickly quieted that annoying Utah crowd.

That play was the beginning of a new era of Kings basketball.

It's ancient in Sac Kings history but still vivid as the night I was there.

Reggie Theus #24 hustling, running, flying, slamming violently into the basketball support at old Arco Arena barn (1986-87) busting his nose and knocking several of his teeth loose. Blood was dripping on the baseline as he grabbed a towel trying to stay in the game. Reggie finally left the floor for brief time returning with a face mask to finish the game like it never happened. X-rays next day showed a broken nose so he continued wearing the mask for several games never missing a beat as the Kings floor leading 6'7" PG. Contrary to some Theus was and is ONE TOUGH DUDE! In fact, during his entire long NBA career he missed VERY-VERY few games due to injury or any other reason.

The first Kings game I ever watched in the millenium year. I'd never seen basketball as an art form prior to that (save for his airness).
