All it takes is a good coaching hire and the FO to get the heck out of the way. Yeah, I laughed at that, too.
I think he is still here though. He seems to be like a cockroach - whoever is in the FO just can't seem to get rid of him!
Thompson had a DNP in there somewhere, so I modified the over/under to 511.5 from 512.5
But, as of tonight, he has passed Tank Thompson to take sole possession of tenth all-time in franchise history. He was already third all-time in Sacramento-era history; he needs eleven games to pass Stojakovic. And, barring a trade before the deadline, or a season-ending injury, he's going to get it.

One thing I think people fail to grasp or are simply in denial: JT is a big reason this team is a dysfunctional loser, as he is a whiny wuss of a child. He's getting worse with his crybaby act while showing little to no improvement on the court. It's long overdue to wipe any memory of his time here as a mediocre defender, a poor rebounder, and an inconsistent offensive weapon.

You have a very intriguing, albeit wildly inaccurate, notion of why this thread exists.
And, if you've already made up your mind about hating him, I've got some more bad news for you: Jason Thompson only needs twenty rebounds to pass Vlade Divac for tenth all-time in career rebounds in franchise history. It's not out of the question that he could get traded at the deadline, and still hit that mark.

My point is I hope he doesn't get to the mark because it means the team is continuing down the same path. I'm sorry you can't get the inference of why I hope he's gone at or before the deadline.
I'll make it clear for you: I vote that he doesn't get the record because he's hung around about 300 games past his expire date. Sadly, as seen at prior deadlines, no other team in the league wants him. That is very telling.

Recently he hasn't been getting rebounds as well as Reggie does. Needs to learn from the vet. That's what the team needs at the moment. We need him to play as aggressively as possible in a way that he gets at least 4 fouls by the end of the game.
There is correlation between those things. I dispute that there is causation.
I didn't ask anybody in this thread if they hope he's gone. I'm not actually interested in whether you hope he's gone. What I "get" has nothing to do with it.
I'll say it again: I don't think you understand why this thread exists, or why the poll is there. This ain't exactly the "Jason Thompson is Great" rally thread, but it damned sure ain't the "Jason Thompson sucks, and here's why" thread, either. I created it to point out a career milestone, relative to the franchise's history. That's it. The next time any other King is on track to become the Sacramento-era/all-time franchise leader at anything, I plan to make a thread for him, too.
If anything, I created this thread because I'm more annoyed that it only takes 519 games to become the Sacramento-era leader in games played. Because that means that, in thirty years, no player has ever played even eight full seasons in Sacramento. That's ****ing depressing. The only player that has ever played out his entire career* as a Sacramento King is Lionel Simmons. I've reached the point where I want somebody to play his whole career as a King, and I don't care who it is, anymore.
* - Quick disclaimer, before Capt. Factorial gets his antenna up: when I'm referring to players playing out their "entire career" in Sacramento, I'm referring only to guys that signed at least two multi-year NBA contracts.
Now, now. I'll pick a nit every once in a while, but I'd never assume you'd think a guy like Ryan Robertson counts towards "entire career in Sacramento".
Welp, that was 511. The only thing left between Jason Thompson and the Sacramento-era record for games played is Pete D'Alessandro. The Kings' next game is after the trade deadline, which pretty much means, if Thompson is still here for the Celtics game, it's his record to lose.

I sure hope Cousins will be a part of Kings history in this regard, and beyond 8 seasons.
Thompson has tied Rock. He'll tie Stojakovic, if he plays tomorrow night, or any other night the remainder of the season.

its is the JTs of the world that free agency kills. Its easy to become a fan of a star when he is traded to, or signs with your team (not just a super star, but a Vlade or a Rudy level of talent).
but the blue collar guys? you become fans of them because they are around, and they grow on you. If JT was on his 7th team.. no fans of those teams would even remember that he played for their team. but when he has played 500 games.. he is family. I'm a longtime Redskins fan, and i MISS the old lifer-vets. a lot. you can fall in love with a lawrence funderburke IF he is a lifer for your team. otherwise, just dress those guys in red shirts, and forget what their names even were, once they are eaten by the salt monster

Throughout the Mason and Ross show, they kept incorrectly referring to Thompson as the franchise leader in games played. Thompson is now the Sacramento-era leader, and I realize that, for many/most Kings Fans, they don't care about anything that happened before the team arrived in town but, as mentioned in the OP, he's still well over three hundred games behind Sam Lacey's franchise record.
