Man oh man. I just got done watching the highlights again with this big involuntary cheesy grin on my face :D. Basketball. Kings basketball. Kings basketball that showcased stingy D and extraordinary promise. I love it.

Mini spiel:

I was impressed by pretty much everyone that hit the floor against Detroit. I sense some camaraderie and aggressiveness already. I gotta give props to the coaching staff for seeming to help get the players on the same page so quickly. Our bigs are beasts (I don't mind the fouls), and I like to see Omri come out and try to prove something.

The Lakers have the most outstanding big performer in the VSL: Derrick Caracter. So far the dude has been surprising the he** out of everybody. The Kings have the most hyped, and after his display, I would venture to suggest that he's the most skilled: Cousins. I hope Cousins takes Caracter's lunch money.
==================================================================

Whiteside: Las Vegas block party

Cousins: Thrills AND skills

Donte: Don't let Omri get that starting 3 spot

Omri: Get that starting 3 spot

The rest: Keep it up, and toss it inside more
==================================================================

I'm so ready to throw those kinds of beatdowns on the rest of the league.

GO KINGS!!!

Nice! I will watch online today.. The picture seemed to be almost HD quality when I watched the last part of the game (the part I missed when Stern cut in).

I have a feeling that groundbound Caracter is going to have his shot blocked quite a few times by Whiteside while Boogie muscles up on him.. I can't see this game being that close. Big win again by the Kings!!

I think Donte played a better game overall, defensively he had the edge while Casspi beat him out by a little offensively. Donte didn't look selfish out there, but when your competing for the starting spot why wouldn't you right? I like the fact that we have two young guys competing for the starting SF spot. The more talent the merrier.

I wish the bigs were being challenged more, the Lakers spl team doesn't have much up front. Caracter is a nice player, but he's all offense.

Laker summer league team is 0 - 3 with nothing from their backcourt players but two good, underrated front court types. Should give Cousins a better battle than Monroe.

Would I be right in saying that this game is on in roughly 7 hours and 10 minutes? And is it on live (I'll be watching via a stream)? All this talk of delay time has me cafuddled!

Nope. It is on roughly 8 hours from now, 9 o'clock Pacific.

Edit: I confused myself and picked Rice. I meant to pick Whiteside. Oh well.

Thanks for makng this thread Reynauldo I was just about to make a game thread for the Laker game tonight, we should have a mod change the title a bit and have it be a game thread if that is cool with you Reynauld. Agree with your mini spiel Ryan, and I
am interested to see how the Donte vs. Omri battle plays out tonight. I mentioned in my game 1 thread that the vs. Pistons game was supposed to see Donte with more minutes but that took a bit of a nosedive (get it?) when he got that elbow from Monroe. I wonder if they will give Donte another shot since his minutes got a little reduced.

I'm not a big fan of public polls, but I thought that Whiteside was the most impressive. He had the most question marks coming into this game, and while for now he's clearly a role player, damn is he good at the role. I go back and watch the highlights, and he knocks those shots out of the air at the apex of their trajectory. It's very, very refreshing to watch a Kings game where they just completely denied the other team any offense in the paint (okay, so an exaggeration, but the interior D was very good).

For this game, I'm hoping Cousins steps up a little more and shows us some post D. I'm okay with his post defense not being stellar, as long he commits to improving it (which he has already in post draft interviews). It'd also be nice to see Donte have another huge 40+ point summer league game. Just for fun.

Hey guys :)

New guy over here :), i've been reading this forum(with much joy I might add) over the last year ever since Omri came to the Kings (I'm from Israel).

I must say i'm a Knicks fan since I was young, but ever since Omri came here this team and the whole rebuilding state it's on just touched me, and i'm preety sure even if Omri goes away I will still follow the kings, my favorite player believe it or not is not even Omri, but his fierce competitor Donte ! :D

Anyways to the reason i've registered, I am living in Israel as i've mentioned, and I saw alot of you guys talk about the ESPN 3, giving links of it etc.

When I enter that site it shows me options to purchese passes for Bball, Hockey and Football collage passes, and I can't seem to see the games, or even get a message thats related to those games.

Is it because I don't live in the states?, i'm watching it through other websites in a really low quality and tried really hard making it work with the ESPN 3 thing without much succses.

So hello again and would love to get a response, BEAT LA :D

I really liked seeing Whiteside block all those shots. It's not often you see a King block 5 shots in a game. As much as liked what I saw from him, I thought Cousins was more impressive with his overall skills. It's all good.

Didn't get to see the game yesterday. I'm just curious, when Whiteside blocked shots, did he keep the ball in play or did he swat them out of bounds? The latter are nice to get the crowd into it (and of course the intimidation factor), but keeping the ball in play helps the team that much more. Too many shotblockers nowadays try to swat shots into the 5th row. That just gives the ball back to the other team

Swatting it out of bound at least stop them from setting up play and give our team time to setup up defense.

Keeping it in play go both ways...he could swat it and it land in the opponent's hands who shoot an open 3. ;)

I believe they were mostly kept in play, and the one he blocked with his wrist :D he grabbed himself. He looks like he'll be able to exercise some control over where the ball goes. He has more reach than necessary on many blocks, so he isn't having to just swat it at the limits of his reach.

I just watched the highlights again, and it looks as if every single block by Whiteside ended in a new Kings possession.
