Didn't get to see the game yesterday. I'm just curious, when Whiteside blocked shots, did he keep the ball in play or did he swat them out of bounds? The latter are nice to get the crowd into it (and of course the intimidation factor), but keeping the ball in play helps the team that much more. Too many shotblockers nowadays try to swat shots into the 5th row. That just gives the ball back to the other team
I'd say he was very good at keeping the ball in play. He actually got called for a travel on one block cause he grabbed the ball and brought it down as he lost his footing. As another poster stated earlier whiteside blocks the ball near the peak of the shot so it just falls straight down.

I really liked seeing Whiteside block all those shots. It's not often you see a King block 5 shots in a game.
Amazingly, it has happened 32 times since the '00-'01 season.
Spencer Hawes (4 times)
Donte Greene (1 time)
Francisco Garcia (1 time)
Brian Skinner (1 time)
Greg Ostertag (1 time)
Vlade Divac (4 times)
Chris Webber (7 times)
Keon Clark (9 times, in only one season!)
Scot Pollard (4 times)

I believe they were mostly kept in play, and the one he blocked with his wrist :D he grabbed himself. He looks like he'll be able to exercise some control over where the ball goes. He has more reach than necessary on many blocks, so he isn't having to just swat it at the limits of his reach.
I'm looking forward to the ball he blocks with his elbow.:D

Keon Clark is a beast.

I can't wait for the Derrick Caracter - Cousins matchup.

Your list is flawed. It says that Spencer Hawes blocked five shots in a game, and it says he did it four times. Can't be right.

I'm not the least bit surprised that The Team blocked pretty well. But it's only happened in about 1% of games since the CWebb trade, that is probably the depressing reality that Rug King was referring to.

I'd like to see Whiteside pick up the blocking where Keon left off.

For crying out loud...

Does anyone who has DirecTV know what channel this game is going to be on? JHC!
Its going to be on NBATV... unfortunately it isn't being aired until 10 PM PST. So if you can't watch it online (like me) your going to have to wait until then. I'm happy they are at least showing it though. Hopefully this time they don't cut out the entire 4th quarter for some stupid press conference.

Yeah, I set the DVR for the 10pm NBATV showing.
