I was thinking why the heck not do the trade, until I see that yes they are 6'7"ish swingman. Right now I'd say we have 2 of them in Salmons and Garcia, also Kenny, but he isn't a swingman..he's just a straight midget PF in the West. That is a good size though as you can really play a # of positions then based on your athletism. I don't like the moveable pieces bit, but I wouldn't have minded this trade as in they are young swingman, but since we signed Salmons to a 5 year deal, I think he's pretty much the swingman off the bench covering positions 1-3, a bit undersized at 3, big at 1 obviously. If we could have gotten a young big out of the deal instead with Haslem/Posey I'd really be liking it.
Well Bibby has the nice warm fuzzy feeling that he was shopped probably the most of anyone right before the deadline and he's not in the teams future plans. I'm looking forward to the rebuild, as I think GP is doing. I just hope the Maloofs don't short circuit it and try to just make small adjustments.
I really have nothing against 6' 7" guys, I think that's a great size in the NBA with players backing that size up with great athletism and willingness to play multiple positions like Salmons for us playing positions 1-3. This size obviously only extends to 1-3, not 4/5 like our buddy Kenny is...that is a big no no especially in the West.
