Udonis Haslem, James Posey, Dorell Wright...

Two more swingmen and another undersized power forward? I can't understand why...

And yes, I'm being sarcastic; and yes, I know Posey's contract expires.

that along with their first would have been a great trade.

Then to clear up PF minutes maybe Reef to Chicago for expirings and a 2nd round pick or way future 1st.

oh well...

I read that too. Haslem a good player, but a under sized PF.. we have some of those already. Posey and Wright are SF and we have some good ones already.. This team will be rebuilt.. Petrie wanted expiring contracts and draft picks. It's going to be an interesting summer

I was thinking why the heck not do the trade, until I see that yes they are 6'7"ish swingman. Right now I'd say we have 2 of them in Salmons and Garcia, also Kenny, but he isn't a swingman..he's just a straight midget PF in the West. That is a good size though as you can really play a # of positions then based on your athletism. I don't like the moveable pieces bit, but I wouldn't have minded this trade as in they are young swingman, but since we signed Salmons to a 5 year deal, I think he's pretty much the swingman off the bench covering positions 1-3, a bit undersized at 3, big at 1 obviously. If we could have gotten a young big out of the deal instead with Haslem/Posey I'd really be liking it.

Well Bibby has the nice warm fuzzy feeling that he was shopped probably the most of anyone right before the deadline and he's not in the teams future plans. I'm looking forward to the rebuild, as I think GP is doing. I just hope the Maloofs don't short circuit it and try to just make small adjustments.

I really have nothing against 6' 7" guys, I think that's a great size in the NBA with players backing that size up with great athletism and willingness to play multiple positions like Salmons for us playing positions 1-3. This size obviously only extends to 1-3, not 4/5 like our buddy Kenny is...that is a big no no especially in the West.

Throw in a first round pick and I would have done it. We would lose about 6 million in Salary next year with the Posey deal and Wright is a good enough player with an easy contract to move if we wanted to. Some times I just don't understand how we plan to rebuild when we have alot of crap on our roster that is not moveable and we are stuck with it.

I need to stop torturing myself. This would have been fantastic, albeit unlikely:

out: 19.2
Bibby 12.5
KT 6.7

in: 21.1
Jason Williams 8.2 (ends 2008)
Haslem 5.5
Posey 6.3 (ender)
Wright 1.1
1st

Jwill expires after next year and would hold down the PG spot in the meantime, Haslem replaces KT as as slight upgrade for a little cheaper, Posey expires, Wright has potential, + a mid to late round pick this year. Doubt Miami would have done it although they are in serious win now mode so they might have considered it. Would have been a win for the Kings for sure.

Getting Udonis Haslem would accomplish absolutely nothing for the Kings -- yet another undersized power forward who is not a good defender. This team needs an interior defender, and they're not going to get one by filling up the roster with dead weight contracts.

oh no this obviously isn't true because petrie wouldn't overvalue bibby like that and he tried his hardest to get a deal done, it's just the league that offered him crap. lol, this proves petrie didn't have the guts to pull a trade. FIRE PETRIE!!!

posey is an expiring contract.

I hope this is sarcasm -- or maybe you like the idea of three undersized power forwards making a combined $17 million a year for the next four years?

The Miami deal wasn't insulting by any means, but those particular pieces don't make much sense for the Kings the way they're currently constructed.

More surprising to me than the fact that Bibby wasn't traded was that Shareef didn't end up in Chicago for expiring contracts. I kind of wonder if there was a chicken-and-egg thing going on: The Kings might have pulled the trigger on the Bibby deal had they been able to move SAR, but when that fell through it made no sense to bring in yet (as has been pointed out on this board) another smallish power forward and yet another swing guy.

The Kings should have moved SAR & Pot to Chicago and gotten Brown's $8.6M expiring off the books at the end of the season and his Defensive presence the rest of this season. I'm really wondering why we didn't at least pull that one off. Even moving Hart would have been nice, but we did absolutely nothing in the way of trades...very disappointing. :(

I would have done the deal. Dorell Wright is like a younger version of Artest. The kid looks like a defensive beast. He rebounds, steals, and blocks well, and isnt too bad offensively. And then consider he just turned 21... I think he has potential to be a GREAT player.

I would have wanted their #1 as well, but a deal like:

Haslem
Posey (ender)
Wright (athletic kid)

is a lot like the Gooden based deals or Brown (ender) Banks (kid) etc. things that were discussed. Should have been in the ball park if you can get a pick out of it -- ESPECIALLY given that Wade's injury might doom the Heat to the lottery.

Biggest problem is that Haslem very much is just another too small PF who can't shut down the middle for you, and we are already choking to death on the awful play fo the ones we have.

Makes a lot of sense from the Kings' perspective, but the Bulls might have been holding out hope until the last second that they'd get Gasol or something else better with Brown's ender as part of the deal. Takes two to tango ...

I don't get people saying Haslem can't play D. He shut down Dirk and Sheed last year in the playoffs. Yeah he's undersized(not as much as Kenny) but he's way stronger than SAR, has a good jumper, rebounds well, and plays great man to man D. It would've been easy to move him for an expiring contract.

I wouldnt mind seeing Posey and Haslem in Kings colors, but not if it means giving up Bibby, not a good move in my mind.
