:p I used to hate the stuff until about a year and a half ago.. Now I can't get enough.
I have eaten it a couple times and just don't get the attraction. At all.

I am not a big fish eater but it wasn't even that. I would much rather have a good orange chicken, beef chow fun, chin ju chicken, etc. :D You know, things that have some real taste to them. ;)

Ah geez, so many things still left on my list. (predictable in a "pick anything" draft) Decisions, decisions ... hmmm, this seems the most likely to be taken before I get another chance, so:

Lemonade

Like drinking liquid sunshine :p

Seriously though, some people swear by ice cold soda or beer on a hot day, but for me, no other drink gives me more of a sense of tranquility than good old fashioned lemonade.

Plus, I enjoy the thought of taking the world's most obnoxiously sour fruit and turning it into a heavenly sweet concoction ... with the help of several pounds of sugar.

There's not much better than the feeling of being clean, unless perhaps it's the feeling of getting clean. So for my next pick, I select Showers. Regular ones, avant-garde ones, ones that look like thy have a phone booth in them...whatever, as long as there's a good supply of hot water!

I know I'm up again right after Aleksandar, but I'm heading out on vacation so I won't be around to make that pick. I've PM'ed my pick to Löwenherz and let him know that I'm out.

Aleksandar, when you pick can you PM Löwenherz? Thanks!

All right, first up: Capt's pick. And out of courtesy, I'll try to make this as awesome as I can:

Racquetball

Personally, I know little about this sport other than it was apparently real popular during the 80s (as evident by its prominent placement in the movie Big) and that those guys with the Beautiful Babes and Gargantuan Trophy have to be doing something right.

Well done, Capt.

Now for my own pick. And this goes hand and hand with my Lemonade:

Hammocks

Our resident Navy vets may have a different opinion on this one, but for me there is nothing more peaceful and serene than being nestled in a well strung hammock on a calm, sunny day.

Throw in the sound of the crashing waves of the Pacific and a tall glass of lemonade and I'm golden.

Hank: Uh, hi, Homer. What can I do for you?
Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.
Hank: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that?
Hammocks! Homer, there's four places. There's the Hammock Hut,
that's on third.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Hank: There's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too. You got
Put-Your-Butt-There?
Homer: Mm-Hmm.
Hank: That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot... Matter of fact,
they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on
third.
Homer: Oh, the hammock district.
Hank: That's right.

Ok, numerous ways to go here but felt this had to be next...

MTV (1981 - 2001)

Ah, yes. Video killed the radio star. These were the golden years of MTV. I LOVE Music Videos. There is nothing like hearing a song and then seeing the vision acted out. So, here's why I made this pick...

1. Only up to 2001. None of this current MTV crap (All Hills, No Videos)
2. Music Videos!!
3. The original reality shows - Real World and Road Rules (again only up to 01)
4. Total Request Live
5. Daria
6. Classic moments in music
7. Award shows
8. MTV News
9. etc. etc. etc.

Next up:

THANKSGIVING

I love Christmas and all, but for me, the mother of all holidays is Thanksgiving. How can you go wrong with family, friends, alcohol, a carbo-loaded food fest, and great autumn weather?

EDIT: ...and FOOTBALL!

I think so far we've only had one other person drafted... I choose:
Elvis

Elvis and all things Elvis. All the bad collectibles, immitators, bad movies, great songs, but most of all Elvis is my homeboy. He takes me around in his pink cadillac, spends frivolously on me, performs in my man cave and we hang out in Graceland when we are away from Fantasy Island.

I have to apologize for my earlier comments about this thread being about as exciting as watching paint dry...or whatever words I used to that effect. Now that people have gotten away from a lot of the broad categories, this is a lot more fun to follow.

:)

Never! :p

Chess

Chess remains a fascinating standby for me -- I've played it since I was a child and have some skill at it, yet I have never, and will never, put in the time to ever remotely approach my full potential at it. And that is actually better for the fascination. I learn something new nearly every time I play.

Since the residents of my utopian isle will be on the move a lot, time to pick one of the greatest inventions of the last 50 years. With my 15th pick, I choose:

Wifi (Wireless Internet Access)

Sure the internet is awesome, but it's 10x as awesome if you can connect to it on the go. The residents of my island will always have 3G internet access, with full bars of course :). Whether you're rock climbing, resting, teleporting, watching TV, paragliding, or birdwatching, you can always stay as connected as you desire :).

I should have known you'd end up sniping that from me ... and for basically the same reasons.

Oh well, this is the one draft I don't mind having things stolen from me as much because of the simple fact that it opens up a spot for something else on my daunting list.

Thank you, Löwenherz! That's even MORE awesome than the racquetball that I know!

And now that I've found an open wireless...I'll be ready if my next pick comes around!
