Superhero Draft - team write-ups and post-draft rankings to be done

Sorry guys I was doing some earth day stuff, I was running a edible insects booth, had some sour cream n onion crickets, barbecue crickets, chocolate covered grubs crickets and meal worms all kinds of tasty stuff

Rats! That was my pick... now I am stuck with Odie from Garfield...

SuperOdie.bmp

:p

I do?

Hrmmm...

I can think of 3 right off the top of my head that could be possible, and that's before we even take into account heroes that I would not know about because of my profound (and intentional) ignorance of comic books.

But tell ya what, if I DO figure it out I'll be sure to take them for you, k? ;)

Let me guess...Are they these?

Ok, well, while I would hate to lose my next pick after this one, its surely safe. So I am going to go this way as somebody may actually come up with this one.

neo.jpg

Neo

Able to manipulate the very nature of the universe around him...so long as we are all living in a computer generated construct. Which we of course are. His demonstrated powers include superstrength, superspeed, telekinesis, supersonic flight, the ability to bend or fold reality around him, and the ability to bring the dead back to life. His potential powers are nearly limitless as he sees the underlying structure of the universe and is able to operate outside its rules. He is also the master of all forms of the martial arts, and holds a major style advantage over most superheroes and supervillains, rocking the latex/leather fetishy black trenchcoat and shades rather than a pair of tights of questionable color.

Drawbacks: If in fact we are not living in a computer generated construct, which we are, but if we weren't, then I have left the Earth just being defended by Keanu Reeves. Duuude....

Super powers? We don't need no stinkin' super powers!

batmane.jpg

The Batman - DC Comics (1939-Present) -- There were two characters from "Heroes" picked before the Dark Knight? Seriously?? I'm on my way to class and don't have time for much of a write-up, but I think the logo speaks for itself.

At least Neo had some powers to manipulate machines in the "real world" too (as he showed in the Matrix Reloaded). He also has those cool training programs so he can upload information instantaneously into his brain..."I Know Kung Fu!". Nice pick Brick. Welcome to the party:).

As for Batman...It really is all about the toys isn't it. And we all know how much you want to ride in his tumbler:p.

And NoBonus, when Jean Gray is Pheonix, she can not die. Therefore, she has no weakness. Unless you are talking about some sort of emotion. I'm not talking about Xmen the movie here.

The tendency to go insane and kill everyone in an entire solar system could in some circles be considered a drawback for a superhero. ;)

I contacted this guy via ESP late last night and he agreed to a deal... though he has demanded certain other heroes be drafted if available for his squad as part of the demands... I select

Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz)

[yt=Martian Manhunter Rules!]u6i2IDMj-JU[/yt]

Let's see, why did I pick him... well... why don't I just bold the interesting part from the long, long list of powers from Wikipedia... oh, yeah, and did I mention he is GREEN and AWESOME!

From Wikipedia:
Martian Manhunter possesses a wide variety of superhuman powers, many of which are similar to those of Superman and Wonder Woman, including super-strength, super-speed, invulnerability and flight. Like Superman, Martian Manhunter has "Martian vision" (a term designating both the ability to see through solid objects and the ability to generate optic heat beams).
During the '90s, it was stated that the source of his flight and "Martian vision" is a form of telekinesis (he had occasionally demonstrated more traditional uses of telekinesis to levitate and animate objects during his Detective Comics and House of Mystery appearances).
The Martian Manhunter also possesses the power of shapeshifting, which he employs for various effects (e.g., adopting human or monstrous appearance, elongating his limbs, growing to immense size). He can alter the chemical makeup of his body to imitate various materials such as steel or stone. J'onn can render himself invisible, and is also able to become intangible so as to pass harmlessly through solid objects. He is a powerful telepath, capable of both perceiving the thoughts of others and of projecting his own thoughts. He often acts as a "switchboard" between minds in order to coordinate the Justice League's actions. The extent of his telepathic abilities is great; several times he has connected to the entire planet Earth.
He has demonstrated regenerative abilities, once able to regenerate himself from only his severed hand but with great strain (due to the loss of mass he found it necessary to incorporate new matter from Martian sand). Early appearances of the character show him as able to breathe underwater; the last time he displayed this power was when he encountered Zauriel in the sea of San Francisco in JLA #6. The Manhunter has sometimes been said to possess nine senses, but these additional senses are poorly defined and generally ignored by most writers.
Aside from his superhuman powers, the Manhunter is also a skilled and very capable detective. As Batman mentions in his file, that "in many ways, Martian Manhunter is like an amalgam of Superman and the Dark Knight himself."[10]

Whoops! I guess I win again...

Cool pick NoBonus. I was considering him for later rounds, but the whole fear/weakness of fire thing put him lower in my rankings. He is a great telepath though:).

He's definitely the most powerful individual that can be subdued with a Bic lighter. ;)

By fire, unlike kryptonite, is really easy to deal with... no air, no fire... he could hang out in space or underwater... but even when his is set ablaze he can regenerate... the fire thing is no big concern to me...

If this thing were head-to-head, Phoenix would win automatically. Lucky you =]

Not the whiney punk, Peter Parker from the movies that cries after getting into fights with his friends and his lady. This is the Spider-Man of the Marvel Comics.

The movie Parker would have gone to the mental hospital if he had gone trough everything the comic Parker has gone through:

250px-Richard_and_Mary_Parker_UToSM-1.jpg

Son of deceased agents of shield
Had his uncle Ben murdered
Picked on by Flash Thompson
Had his first true love, Gwen Stacey have her neck snapped
Grown additional four arms
Had his professor Curt Connor's mutate into the The Lizard
Got drafted into an alien secret war and had his costume destroyed
Got a replacement costume that was really the alien symbiote, that would become Venom
Had Venom's offspring bond with a serial killer and become Carnage
Once bonded with the cosmic energy of Captain Universe to become Cosmic Spider-Man

Ben Reilly, I don't remember if he was the clone or not.

Had the Scarlet Spider show up and found out he was a clone
Found out that he was the clone but then found out the that the clone was a clone all along
Had his wife Mary Jane give birth to a stillbirth and then had the baby stolen by Goblin's agents
Lost his powers and found out that the true source of his power may be from animal spirits
Had an alternate reality created thanks to Scarlet Witch in which he was loved by all and married to Gwen Stacey
Had that reality taken away
Lost an eye and got killed, later emerging from a cocoon completely healed with new powers
Got caught up in a civil war in which super-heroes were required to register with the Government
Got a new costume thanks to Tony Stark

Hi I'm Peter Parker and I've been Spider-Man since I was 15

Sided with Iron Man and exposed his identity to the media
Had Aunt May shot by a sniper
Made a deal with the devil to make all the bad things go away in exchange for his marriage and memories with Mary Jane
It was pretty much Marvel's reset button to get things back to normal

Childhood favorite, I was a little worried someone would get to him first. I can thank the horrible third movie with the singing, dancing and crying for him still being available. My pick ain't no doughy Toby McGuire.

Venom - I feel I must ask for clarification. You did mean to draft Phoenix and NOT Dark Phoenix didn't you? I realize your pic is of Dark Phoenix, but you list Phoenix. I ask because as Dark Phoenix she was intent on destruction and not very hero like. ;)

Jean Grey is a hero as the member of the X-Men. When she was imbued with the Phoenix Force, she retained her innate goodness, but had some control problems...

I am aware of this, once she loses control she becomes Dark Phoenix. It's a minor distinction but an important one. I do believe he listed her as Jean Gray as Phoenix, the list has her listed as Jean Gray as Dark Phoenix. Just being picky and I just think the list needs to be fixed. :p
