Superhero Draft - team write-ups and post-draft rankings to be done

BTW, I also recommend that people in the draft subscribe to the thread. You'll at least get updates on when something happens and it'll keep you involved in case you don't check the website daily...especially during TDOS.

Good idea Spike. For those who don't check this forum daily, it is important for you to know when you get a PM and when you are on the clock. Lets keep this thing running smoothly:).

My approach to this was simple: if I could only call one hero to save someone I love, who would it be?

Superman

Superman is so iconic, I don't even have to list his powers. In fact, I probably could have just posted his symbol without any other words and called it a day.

However, what's important to remember about the Man of Steel is that it's not so much his super strength, flight, x-ray/heat vision, etc, but his unwavering pursuit of saving the day that makes him the ultimate hero.

Forget that little allergy to kryptonite; if you're in trouble, Superman is going to find a way to rescue you. No matter what a villain throws at him, he keeps coming. He could be bloodied, broken and even killed, but Superman will not stop until he knows whoever and whatever he's protecting is safe.

He's accused of being an overgrown boyscout, too one-dimensional and not as dark, complex or edgy as other modern heroes, but I find perhaps because of this, he fills people with a sense of hope and optimisim more than any other hero I could readily mention.

And sometimes, that alone is enough to turn the tide.

to each his own, but out of this list so far, i think i'd go with the asgardian who can apparently do ANYTHING with his bazillion super powers. :p
I could argue that actually Silver Surfer is more powerful than Thor...But to each their own:).

i never really knew what the silver surfer's powers were, since i usually stopped at "he...moves by...surfing...??? WTF????"

after reading the description you put up, what's the point of having comics when the hero is omnipotent???? i'm looking at you, MARVEL.

Thor could rip through time and space without flying around the sun.

...just sayin'.

In any case, a good argument could be made for everyone's first choice. That's why these drafts are so cool. I may lose people on my last pick, though.

Superman
.

Damn that was my first pick. Ok I will go with plan B it was a toss up between him and superman. But he has probably the best superpower of them all

Hiro Nakamura

Any one who can master time kicks ***. Superman too fast, no problem just stop it, make a mistake, no problem just go back in time. Also can transport any where he likes. He is what all heroes should be.

And the first TV character is taken:). Nice pick AleksandarN.

Just a reminder...I know that there is a 24 hour window to make your selection...However, it would be great if it didn't take that long so we could have multiple picks per day. If possible please try to make timely picks...Thanx;).

New Recruits...

There is still room at the bottom part of this draft, and GGG, Jeryaki, and Mad D have expressed interest. Any members also in the villains draft are welcome to make a hero team as well too, so let me know who is interested in joining the good guys side:).

As with the villain draft, unless one of the other mods wants to do it if you end up with an odd number I'll join up to balance things. No reason for anybody interested to get left out, and if pressed I'm sure I can come up 6 picks that will be interesting if nothing else.

I am taking....
Goku!

Forget about that stupid, cheesy dragonball movie that never should have been made and Goku is freaking amazing. His incredible combination of super strength, super speed, intelligence, energy abilities including teleportation and other forms of energy attack including the kamehameha, and great personality is unmatched, and he has a tail. He is able to transform into super saiyan which enhances his abilities even more.

Silver Surfer is taken, so I'll just have to settle for that other all-powerful monochromatic bald guy:

Doctor Manhattan

In brief, he has seemingly unlimited powers of manipulation over matter, energy and his own being, plus the ability to perceive the entirety of the timestream simultaneously.

Doctor Manhattan has awareness of and control over atomic and subatomic particles. He can alter his body's size, coloration, density, and strength. He does not appear to age, need food (although he is shown to eat regardless of this), water, or air, and is, for all intents and purposes, immortal at thirty years old. In addition, he is even able to reconstruct his body if completely disintegrated. He can teleport himself and others over great (even interplanetary) distances. Due to his non-linear perception of time, he sees the past, present and future simultaneously.

The applications of his abilities are limitless, but just those that were documented in the brief run of The Watchmen are the following: He is able to phase any part of his body through solid objects without damaging them, produce multiple copies of himself which function independently of each other, project destructive energy, create force fields, transmute and create matter, move objects without physically touching them, reverse entropy, and, he suggests, create life and walk on the surface of the sun.

Dr. Manhattan was on my mind before the draft started, but I decided against it as I thought he would be too much like The Silver Surfer. Good pick though!:)

GGG and Mad D are both interested in joining the draft. They would take the last 2 draft spots. Is that cool with everyone?

[ ] That space filled with things I can't say on this board.

Utterly bummed ... I had a whole team built around him ... a mentor to make him "care" and everything. Seriously thought the whole "naked blue guy not giving a darn about the fate of the world" would make him slip to round 2.

Shucks.

Had the movie not come out, I'm guessing that all of us would have been saving him for an obscure last pick.
