I am making a slide show for my wife for X-Mas. I will be including slides of our kids growing up and I need a some growing up songs for the background.

Same here, but he's probably hoping for some less cynical selections. Unless, the slideshow features lots of pictures of daddy leaving on a business trip. It's tricky, because so many songs that people think are sentimental have dark subtexts.

Also, if you want a really sappy "growing up" father-daughter song, taken from the father's point of view, try "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle, which was a big hit in 1997.
