We're trying to resurrect the "Save Our Kings" group originally formed back in 2006.

Nothing much going on yet but please follow these if you're interested:

Website: http://www.SaveOurKings.org - This just points to the NBA Kings site right now, but go ahead and bookmark it. Hopefully we'll have something up soon.
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/SaveOurKings
Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/saveourkings

Also does anyone remember who did the graphics/images for this originally? I can't find the originals and we either need to track them down or come up with some new ones.

I think most of them were early mockups of the whole site. There is one usable logo that you posted but I don't think it's the one we ended up using. I think it was closer to the image I cropped from one of the mockups but the quality isn't so good.

Peeps, if you are around please sign up to this -- in a week one of two things will happen. Either it will be over, and the SoK site will have no purpose and signing up won't have mattered either way, or we'll survive the deadline and enter a desperate phase of trying to push all parties to get a deal done in the next year. If its b), we are going to need everybody who can to pitch in even in small ways. Until that announcement is made the fight is not over. So please sign up now so we can start getting our ducks in a row in case we are given a chance to fight for the Kings. It will only take a minute.

Anyone with some graphics background willing to do some type of logo and/or banner we can use? You can look at the current one on the Facebook page to see what we used to have for a logo, but feel free to do something else. The logo should be "squarish" but we could also use a banner for the website that incorporates the logo but is maybe 900 +/- px wide.

edit: old versions removed

These type blocks would be more for the Facebook/Twitter profile image. I don't know about the tagline choices, any suggestions are welcomed. I've been working on these a little bit throughout the day. I don't know if I'll have time for a banner, someone could use these in creating one or not use them at all, up to them.

I like the "more than a basketball team" tagline! Great job, MadD! :D

It was suppose to read like, this issue is "more than about a basketball team" but I'll edit it if there is a preference.

I would add the extended version space permitting. People have to understand that. This is about an arena and ultimately it is about Sacramento.

edited 11:00PM 2/27 with final tagline after bricklayer's debate, finalized version

Similar to Sac Deflated campaign tagline but this isn't competition in advertising, I don't think they'll mind since they have the same goal.

First debate -- frankly I think the other one was better. They Leave, Sacramento Loses.

Here's why:

1) short, to the point. You don't put an essay in a logo. You need a pithy catchphrase. That was it.
2) establish the stakes, and point the finger at damage to Sacto, not the Kings. You want people who read this to think big stakes. The above is a battle cry you can use, a phrase you can repea0t and that can be picked up. Its good.

Can I use this for a sign for the game tomorrow? I think I can print 2' by 3' sign on paper at work.

Can I get a larger file size for printing that large?

Site banner still in process. I don't know if Jeremy is even bringing back the Save Our Kings website again, but I'll be here to assist him if he needs it. If you were wondering what was in the background of the banner, it is a block of text I typed up that represents Sacramento. It list people, locales, historical areas, etc.

OK folks this is it. In less than 24 hours the Here We Stay group will be holding a rally at City Hall.

Below is information from the Here We Stay folks.

I will be wearing my Kings road jersey and military BDU cap. Also, I will be there by 5:30pm. Hope to see as many folks from here as possible and please feel free to say hello.

When: 5:30 p.m. (rain or shine)
Where: City Hall, 915 I Street, Downtown Sacramento
What to bring: signs, posters, banners and a loud voice.

Following the rally outside of city hall, attendees will file into the council chambers around 6 p.m. where a few folks will address the council during the public comment portion of the meeting. Speakers are encouraged to bring a positive message to the podium.

I will be there wearing my Kings road jersey. Get out there, folks. This isn't over yet. Let's stand out there in the pouring rain and show the Maloofs how much we care about this team. Whatever you do, don't go home, have a comfortable dinner, and let this team walk away from you. Fight to keep what you love!

Agreed! I will be out there as well. Come on folks, let's have a great turnout!

I can't make it literally but represent well. I don't think it's over. I think the Maloofs need money to move and have none. I think they have blown their credit on the Palms misadventure and just may not be able to get any more. Clippers and Lakers will want an arm and a leg.

Get those people to talk to Luckenbill. I suspect he has avoided them but now may be the time. I cannot believe for a moment that neither the City Council nor Maloofs have consulted with the man who brought the Kings here but then perhaps it was by HIS choice. Nobody has taled to him but AV. If AV can chat with Gregg, why can't KJ? In any case, he was the developer that worked the miracle of getting them here and the solution may more be in the mind of a developer who solves these kinds of problems on a daily basis rather than us relatively normal folks who don't have a clue what to do. Well, DIDN'T know. Hence Taylor et al, I know, I know.

Good luck.

You have to look for the video on the lower right side of the screen for CBS under Local Video. Not much footage in this one.

In the News 10 footage, you can see about 30 seconds in that the SacBee representative (in a red sweater in the center of the video) stands up during the Pledge of Allegience and faces away from the US flag. I was sitting two rows behind him and thought this odd. He looked the other way and did not recite the pledge. Strange duck, that one.

Is is the video posted on the city's web site for those of us who couldn't be there tonight?

I recorded all but the first speaker of the Here We Stay "group" with my iPhone from my seat. Uploading it to YouTube now, but it will be quite a while to get it up and the link posted. You can also watch it here:

the public comments section regarding the Kings starts at 25:30 in. You can see me recording it at 26:10 in on the right side. ;-)

Also, at 48:30 in we all got up front for the photo op.

Uh, the video is about 4 minutes too long for youtube apparently. With the whole thing being available from the city council streaming site (with better camera angles), I am not going to bother trying to trim it and repost it.
