Couldn't agree more. As of right now I have Rubio rated no.1 on my wish list next year, ahead of everyone else, including Griffin and Jennings. I don't think people realise just how smart and savvy this kid is. He knows how to play the game better than anyone I've ever seen at his age.

I think I remember one or two people here saying he's unathletic and poor defensively. This simply isn't true. You haven't seem him play much at all, if you did you wouldn't come away thinking this. He has very good size standing at about 6'3'', maybe 6'4''. He's dunked in games. He's actually pretty quick and fast although his size makes him look slower than he is. Watch some tape of him.

Defensively he's probably never going to be a beast, but he's extremely smart and can read the passing lanes like a book and see what's going to happen before they do. He'll be a 2 SPG guy in the NBA and solid defender thanks to his IQ.

Offensively, he's an amazing passer and ball handler. His shot is a work in progress but he can hit the open J. He's so smart it's not funny. Next year people are going to be in amazement when they see some of the plays he will pull off. He'd be the perfect guy for this team, he's smart and will compliment everyone. I'd go as far as to say I think it's likely after a few seasons he'll turn into a perennial all-star.

Plus he is one of the most unselfish players i have ever seen. he doesnt seem hecka cocky, I think 08-09 season is going to be a really tuff year for kings fans. with youth comes losses. a bunch of them. but we all wanted to rebuild, and it has started. Rubio would def help the Blazer wars.

True. I don't often agree with you LL, but I'm 100% with you on this. It will be a year filled with losses, but I've been expecting (and hoping for it) for a long time. We will be rewarded with a high pick at the end of the year. I think it's clear now that we're rebuilding, which is a start. I don't care about the losses as long as we have exciting young players to watch, and we have alot to look forward to this coming season. We have a good young group of guys in Hawes, Martin, Udrih, Thompson, Greene. Add in a high and low 1st round picks next year and things are looking a little brighter for the future. I also think Martin will be even better next year with the subtraction of Artest.

Anyway, back on topic. We need all the young talent we can get if anyone is to compete with the Blazers in the next decade and a half. I would be ecstatic if we landed Rubio.

not going to happen. at best you can hope for the 8-12 range again.

You can't say that, now we have 2 first rounders and brad miller which could also get us another first. There are a lot of trades that can be done with those three to get us a top 5 pick, thats not even mentioning that salmons could be traded and our 2nd round pick. A lot could go down for us that lands us the number 1 pick.

Probably not, but I would hope that we are more in the 5-8 range rather than the 10-12 range like the last couple years. It's more of a pipe dream that we'll land Rubio, but with a high pick and a little luck (we're the Kings, we're more than due) we could land a top 3 pick. That would be good enough for me.

That really depends on Theus's rotations and the rest of the offseason. If Miller is moved for expirings/young guys/picks, we very well could be looking at a pick high enough to land Rubio.

I personally am going to wait for a year of college basketball before I make a judgement on Rubio. All that I've been able to see so far is Youtube film on him. I really put too much value on those. If done properly, they can make anyone look like a superstar.

Don't misunderstad, I'm not saying he's not going to be good. I just think we all need to wait and see. And trust me, I will see every televised game that he's in next season.

#1 Rubio
#2 Holiday
#3 Jennings

Any of those three and I will jump through the roof...

Rubio is a Petrie player as well, so this would totally rock if we got him.

Rubio not cocky? Are you sure you're thinking of the right person?

Same here. I'm a little more cautious about Jennings because his stint overseas can stunt his growth as much as help it. Other than that, I like that list and I'd be glad with any of them. Rubio belongs with us though, it's our time to get a star player.

He's still 17 I think, but what absolutely amazing PG talent. I suppose Kings might have a shot at him for a package that included trading two first round draft picks we'll have next year. Loaded Spain in upcoming Olympics is going to be exciting to watch and near cinch to win a metal in basketball if not upsetting USA to grab Gold.

"At best?" Even if everything came together perfectly for this team, 12 would be the lowest our draft pick would be. We just traded away arguably our best players for a 35 year old, an unproven rookie, and a pick. That alone should be minus 5-10 games won, dropping us 2-5 spots, meaning 7-10 is a more accurate range for our pick. Brad will be a year older, if around at all, and our young guys will be getting more minutes. I would bet money that our pick will be higher than 12, almost surely top 10. Depending on whether or not we unload any more talent or decide to tank it late in the season, I would put that pick 5-10, maybe even a lucky bounce away from top 3 (fingers crossed). Picking 12th is a worst-case scenario (from the perspective that this year should be for getting young minutes and bettering lottery position, thus, we should have a better pick than last year).

I would LOVE to see him here and I think we could have a chance at getting him if we can get another first rounder for next year. IMO Ricky Rubio is going surpass Steve Nash.

I would love to see him on the team but the thing is that we will need really good big men around him. Not sure if Salmons, Hawes and JT will cut it.

You do realize that we are going to have somebody playing SF. Sure we traded Ron but its not like we are going to be playing 4-5. Ron missed half the season last year and Salmons did very well filling in. In fact John posted good numbers. Also Beno was our starter most of the season and it was his first year starting. look for Beno to be better.

Not to mention if you listen to alot of ppl around here Ron cost us alot of games by hogging the ball and stoping the offensive flow of the game. Reggie has his rookie season under his belt and has learned alot. Anyway I look for the 35-40 range in wins again.

Ron's presence will be missed on the court. You want to know whats going to cost us alot of games this year? NO DEFENSE! The reason we had to play zone last year is to attempt to mask our deficiencies on the defensive end.

Agreed. We were also playing QD and Orien (sp?) at point at the start of the season with Mike Bibby out injured. That cost us a few games to be sure. Cisco grew up a bit and played better, making fewer mistakes and hitting some big shots. Ball movement seemed to be better when Ron wasn't in, any continuation of increased offensive fluidity might lead to a couple more wins as well....

Kings 08 Record with Artest: 30-27 (43-39 over 82 game season)
Without: 8-17 (26-56 over 82 game season)

just sayin

25 games without ron right? how many of those 25 were also without Martin or Miller or with QD or Orien Green our starting pgs? I'll its going to account for about 12 of those 17 losses. if you want to go by the records over an 82 game season. I sure hopw your not on the trade Brad Miller bandwagon because we were 3-8 without him thats only about 20 wins. We also lost the 2 games when Mikki Moore didn't start that means if Mikki is traded we will go 0-82. Francisco Garcia missed 3 games all year all 3 were in a row. We lost those 3 in a row. So Kings without Garcia this year would be 0-82 as well. Anyway I think I made my point about how juvinille thinking like that is.

just sayin

hey we went 6-2 in the 8 games Douby didn't play in. so if we just don't let him play we will win 60 games.

according to nbadraft.net he is supposedly moved to the 2010 draft but i would love to have rubio in our line up
