That is the closest thing to Malone style we have seen.
The pace was too fast for this group and I think the players let it be known to Karl. Running opportunistically while (1) play smash mouth with Boogie (but not all the time or he gets beat up too bad or doesn't take advantage of his versatility) (2) Rudy going to work with a mouse in the house, and (3) running Marco off multiple picks should be the offensive hierarchy. (Not sure where Ben fits here. He may even lose minutes to Seth.)
The team does not have enough creative scorers (see Ben, Anderson, WCS) or finishers in the open court except Ben, DC and Omri to play break neck pace. Accelerating the pace beyond comfort zone and collective skill subjects the team to more botched plays.
I am still concerned by Rondo offense -- 14 points on 16 shots --- is a trend we have seen all year -- more points than shots....but when he holds his opponent well below their average like he did with Curry and Reggie Jackson, and distributing well (3:1 assist to TO or better) he's a net positive on the floor.
Checking the logs on Rondo, only twice in 9 games has he scored more points than FTA :
21 points on 13 shots vs LAL
21 points on 17 shots vs LAC
This will be something to keep an eye on. If he's scoring less than a point per FTA he needs to do a lot of other things to compensate for the brickage. Tonight he did.
