I would of liked to see more Trill...rolling with Anderson/Belinelli duo I see. Ben is in the dog house for good it looks like unless it's to play for a minute or two. Once again we see Cousins shoot three's in the first half and then not shoot one in the second...I don't like the three point shooting but there just isn't enough on the team and it's time to accept that he will be putting up his fair share this season. All in all, a much needed win to get that monkey off the team's back...the adversity doesn't start until they hit the road though.

KCP should also probably be in the dog house..except, Detroit doesn't have anyone else better. He's become a better defender, but he's just as inconsistent as Ben. I have no clue how he managed to score 15pts tonight. He was really bad...

KCP has made strides since entering the league. I've watched him improve every season. He just so happened to have a off night in this one, he is still learning the ropes but by no means should he be in the dog house. He isn't Ben bad...hell, no one is Ben bad right now.

George saying in the post-game that he thinks Seth will be back Friday but that Collison will be out one more game.

Rondo definitely needs Curry and/or Collison to come back and give him a breather and give the Kings a different dimension.

Still, so nice to make a gin and tonic to relax and celebrate instead of dipping into the liquor cabinet to forget yet another awful Kings loss.
I'm celebrating the fact I have adult beverages left over for Friday that I fully expected to consume tonight. :)

Other than Rondo, the real steal of a FA in the offseason was re-signing Casspi. He's been the only consistent player off the bench so far. We don't win tonight without him.
Did we trade for Belinelli? Anyway, I think he will show to be very valuable. I'd hate to guard him.

George also stated quite clearly he's not upset with anybody. He said the rotation just didn't work out for Ben tonight, that he wanted to give him minutes but it just didn't work out that way. Kind of diplomatic, me thinks.

Lots of good stuff in tonight's game. Especially the defense.

Willie being on the bench for the entire 2nd and entire 4th is pretty stupid though
We won. I don't know why Karl does things but I get the impression that he shortened the bench because he sensed we needed a win.

shortening the bench is fine, but not when the team is playing better with one of the guys who finds himself on the bench

almost every single game, Willie has had a better +/- than Kosta, including tonight (16 better). it's very obvious that the defense drops off when he's not in the game

This is entirely the fact that Willie's a rookie and veteran coaches will ride with their veteran players. It's not just a Karl thing, it's an "every good coach in the NBA" thing. Doc, RC, Pop, Vogel. It's rare you see rookies or young guys cracking the rotation.

nice game ! now repeat that effort 73 more times !! Rondo needs some help Wish Curry had not gotton hurt. Kinda expected Collison to get hurt. He appears to be somewhat brittle.

I gotta agree. Kosta has not looked all that great. WCS has looked better and should play more because he is the better player at this point in the season.

That is the closest thing to Malone style we have seen.
The pace was too fast for this group and I think the players let it be known to Karl. Running opportunistically while (1) play smash mouth with Boogie (but not all the time or he gets beat up too bad or doesn't take advantage of his versatility) (2) Rudy going to work with a mouse in the house, and (3) running Marco off multiple picks should be the offensive hierarchy. (Not sure where Ben fits here. He may even lose minutes to Seth.)

The team does not have enough creative scorers (see Ben, Anderson, WCS) or finishers in the open court except Ben, DC and Omri to play break neck pace. Accelerating the pace beyond comfort zone and collective skill subjects the team to more botched plays.

I am still concerned by Rondo offense -- 14 points on 16 shots --- is a trend we have seen all year -- more points than shots....but when he holds his opponent well below their average like he did with Curry and Reggie Jackson, and distributing well (3:1 assist to TO or better) he's a net positive on the floor.

Checking the logs on Rondo, only twice in 9 games has he scored more points than FTA :

21 points on 13 shots vs LAL
21 points on 17 shots vs LAC

This will be something to keep an eye on. If he's scoring less than a point per FTA he needs to do a lot of other things to compensate for the brickage. Tonight he did.

No need to rush on Willie. He is going to start every game as long as Cuz is starting. Don't forget he is a rookie, we don't want to gas him out early. He played huge minutes in the games Cuz was out.

i couldn't care less who is the rookie and who is the veteran. The fact is the team plays better with Willie on the court, so he needs not be benched for 2 entire quarters

Willie isn't like the normal rookie that might screw the game up in crunch time, he barely touches the ball, you don't have to worry about him doing dumb stuff. He knows his role and contributes without the ball.

im not saying play him 38 minutes. but he needs more than 16

I'm not disagreeing with you. I think WCS needs to play more. I'm just saying that's what's going on. Veteran coaches are often hesitant to put rookies in major roles.

I've watched 4 other games of Detroit, and I must've caught him on all of his poorer games.

His real + is his defense. However, on offense he's still inconsistent. He's an inconsistent shooter and scorer.

I feel like if you swap out the 2 players right now, they'd give you the same production. Give Ben nearly 40minutes and 15shots a game. Some days he'll be great, some days he's going to struggle. KCP's inconsistent shooting is a lot like Ben's.

If you give KCP small limited minutes, it won't let him go through his progressions and struggles. He'd have the same stat lines as Ben. 1-4 4pts. I just think they're both inconsistent players, but one gets to play nearly 40mins a game, and the other is currently getting benched.

KCP hasn't been all that good this season. I think if they had a better SG, he'd be in the dog house too.

We are never going to out San Antonio the San Antonio's or the Warriors of the world. However we do have two guy in Gay and especially Cuz that demand a ton of attention when they are in scoring positions and now we have an elite passer in Rondo to get them the ball in their spots. Passing a ton looks great until you realize most often the ball ended up swinging to Rondo with 3 seconds on the clock. We are a much better team when there are less possessions and we punish teams with Cousins and Gay inside. BTW I was all against Cuz shooting threes, but if he is gonna be a streaky shooter from out there, might as well let him launch one or two early on to see if he has it going. It is a weapon and much needed when Rondo and WCS are out there. As long as we are punishing teams inside often, most of his threes are of the wide open trailing variety anyways.

I'd rather watch his floor generalship and resultant assists.
