Nene

Nor would I, of course. Its breaking those cardinal trading no nos once again -- old for young, small for big.

Its the same way we originally built the franchise 7 years ago (although I obviously do not think either player is as good as those involved in the Mitch/Webb deal).

My hope remains that we can talk past that with Denver management as opposed to theor fans because of the economic reality that Nene is going to want more than they can pay him, and maybe they need to get what they can while they can.

if we had to trade nene NOW, then there might be a chance. but we have 0 reason to trade nene now. none. nene for mobley just wont work.

I wish we could get NeNe and a 1st rounder for Mobley instead of another contract.

Also by comparison of Kenny Thomas and how his numbers increased when he came to the kings. I have figured the difference of the stats and came up with a statline of NeNe averaging just 30 min with the Kings.

15.8pts 9.4reb 3.2ast 1.5blk 1.2stl and he shot 50% and 66% from the line

wait, YOU want the 1st rounder with nene? holy ****.

Wow, this article actually gives me hope. What a classic non-denial denial.

"I am not looking to trade Nene."

Translation: But if the right offer is placed on my desk I won't have to look!

"I like him."

Translation: He's a nice guy. Did you know that I happen to have two power forwards signed for a total of $120 million through 2010?

"I view him as one of our core guys."

Translation: Notice how I didn't say "He's one of our core guys." Because, you know, I could be wrong...

"You look at the Detroit model, they've got Rasheed (Wallace) and Ben (Wallace) and (Antonio) McDyess (rotating in the post). . . . I view (Nene) as a starter."

Translation: I view Nene as a starter. ON ANOTHER TEAM.

well done sherlock!

I know Kiki stared down Thorn last year, but this is different. First, after trading 3 first rounders, I don't think they can move anymore picks for awhile. If I am not mistaken you still cannot trade consecutive first round picks.

Second, Nene has made it plain he wants to start. He knows his payday is coming next year, and he needs starter minutes to increase his value. And as others have already stated, the Nuggets have $210 million worth of PFs already.

210? which PFs are these?

Third, despite what Nugget fans will say, they are in more of a win now mode than they realize. Their core guys are no spring chickens, and their cap is trashed. With the exception of Carmelo, their core is in their prime right now. They get their lineup set and they are battling the Suns and Spurs for the next 3-4 years, especially with that homecourt. With the salaries they are already carrying, and Carmelo due for his extension in a year, they are going to be bleeding young talent for the forseeable future regardless. Now, our team is arranged similarly, only with worse talent and no budding producer like Nene. So, there's that. But the Nuggets are on the rise while we are on the decline. They are at that decision making point where they have to ask themselves if they are going to make bold moves in order to shore up holes for a possible championship run. And is Cat the guy? I would say no, but I also wouldn't call for Kiki's head if he pulled the trigger.

we arent exactly old and its not like we have a one year window. we are just getting started. we are winning now and we are still looking at the future.

Furthermore, what happens when the NHL gets back on track? From an owner's standpoint, the Nuggets need to keep getting more wins and better playoff position in order to maintain interest in that city. The Avs OWN Denver. The Broncos are huge, but the Avs OWN it. I lived in the area for four years, and hand to God you cannot even watch an NBA playoff game in a sports bar until the Avs are eliminated from the NHL playoffs. Very frustrating.

when the nuggets win, the nuggets are HUGE in denver. no doubt about it. not broncos huge (they are always #1) but its a huge deal.

i know you are trying to justify a nene-mobley deal in anyway possible but you are stretching it big time. do you think petrie is gonna bring up the avs and try to convince kiki to make this deal? lol.

Like I said in the other thread if LA loses Simmons that mean they could go after Mobley with that added attention might force Denver into a sign and trade to get Mobley since LA could sign him out right for more than the MLE. I could see a Nene Mobley deal happening now.

you gotta be kidding me. simmons going to milwaukee means a nene-mobley trade now looks better for us?

Logocally, it make a Nene- Mobley trade better. or it makes Denver getting Mobley much worse. I think the later.
BTW- it is nice to hear from a Nuggets fan. I would greatly appreciate positive discussion on Denver's considerations for Mobley.

Yes If LA is looking at him to sign straight out with them that leaves Denver out in the cold plus no way Cat is going to for the MLE. If and I said if Denver want then a sign and trade is the only option on the table.

I can't wait to see nene get traded just for the fact that nugzfan is sure it won't happen.

The PFs are Camby and Martin. The Nuggets need to exploit the window they have, as you never know when an injury could close it. If there's one thing the Webber injury taught me, it's that. Camby and Martin both have injury histories. It may sound counter-intuitive to then trade Nene, but with a hole at 2(although I like Hodge), you fill it if possible. Did it make sense for us to move our promising 3/4 combo guy in Hedo for a good but not great C? I guess, and things have turned out in our favor, but that was not an altogether popular deal at the time. And that was overpaying (contract wise) for a piece that might keep the window open a little longer. Same as Cat would be.

The Nuggets were popular this year because they won AND no Avs. Kiki doesn't give a crap, but ownership should. They need continued improvement and title aspirations in order to maintain fan interest in that city.

personally i dont think nene will be in denver within a year. however he wont be traded this summer.

right now nene is happy and wants to stay but when the time comes and he wants a star contract we wont give it to him IMO>

I would have to agree as well that he won't be there in a year, but he isn't happy.

Just because it is posted here is why it wont happen.. If it's in the public there has been only one thing that has come true..

Signing House when he was released. A few people here predicted that :)

The Nugz need a SG. In fact they are in a rather tight spot now with LA shooting for Cat. Clock is ticking....

It could happen. The Nugz need help right now. I don't think the Nugz are going to get what they think they can get for Nene anyhow.

I hope that noone from the Nuggets management reads this but ... they would be crazy to do the Mobley for Nene + fillers swap. That's all.

Man, now the reports are the Nuggets are looking at Jaric too (he's restricted, so Clips could match and take that off the table), although I have no idea how picking up a 40% shooter would help their shooting woes.

So in other words, our offseason fortunes may now rest in the unsteady hands of the shakiest front office in professional sports -- Sterling and Co. If clips match on Jaric, it might force Denver to get serious about Cat. If the Clips let Jaric go and go after Cat, they've probably got him and we are out in the cold. G-o-o-o-o Sterling? :(

Joe Johnson is gone now that the Suns will match the Hawks offer. So that leaves Mobley as the top SG FA left. Like I said this will put more pressure on the Nuggets to get a deal if they want Mobley.

You are just an irrepressible optimist about this deal aren't you. :)

Brick: Cat was just in in a terrible accident involving a gerbil, a jar of Coolwhip, and an inflatable goat, and had to have his left leg amputated.
Aleksander: See, this will put more pressure on the Nuggets to hurry up and sign him before he loses the other leg. :p

Now if we could just figure out some way to get you hired into Denver's front office, we'd be set. ;)
