Martin For Calderon?

Sigh. This has been discussed in one of the other threads in here, but I'm not going to go search all that out right no and it kind of deserves its own thread.

And short answer, no. Calderon is not what we need at this point, and if keeps on averaging glorified Beno numbers (11pts 6ast) with that contract, I can't see that changing.

How dare Toronto didn't offer Chris Bosh for KMart?!! Quick, somebody knock some sense into their feeble little minds!

.

Calderon and Beno are both similar players only Benos a better scorer and Calderons a better passer.

Although I would love his passing, i dunno if hes a good fit. He just like beno only he cant play off the ball as good. And with Tyreke as PG, we need a playmaker that can shoot, handle, create for others and has size/speeed to guard SG'/PG's and is effecctive off the ball.
Garcia fits that mold perfectly. Cant wait for him to come back.

Right now we shouldnt even be thinking about getting a pg,sg or sf.

getting a Centre should be the only thing on our minds.

Mcgee, Biendrins, Hibbert, Marc Gasol, Noah, Perkins, Blatche, Gortat, Dalembert. should be the players we are looking at.

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Offensively Calderon is better than Beno in every aspect of the game, including shooting %2, %3 and specially %FT. Appart from that, he averages the double of assists. Defensively they're very similar.

Anyway I don't get the move and I think it doesn't worth for the Raptors neither.

Beno shoots 50 % FG (202 Made) on 13.5 PPG, FT 85 %, 3pt 39 % (45 3'S)
Calderon shoots 52 % FG (133 Made) on 11 PPG, FT 81 %, 3pt 41 % (30 3'S)

Beno scores more FG's and 3Pters and is shooting almost the exact same percentages in a way harder conference. benos the better FT shooter aswell.

Watching both players play, Beno is far more advanced offensively, he can play the PG position and score and he can play off ball and score. The same cant be said for calderon who cant play off the ball and needs to be runnin the point to score.

Either way arguing over calderon is pointless, were not trading for him or a PG.

LOL @ Calderon being better than KMart. It's not even close...

Don't wan't to make a big point because the topic is worthless, but you're cheating. Calderon has played injured most part of season while Beno is playing the season of his career, so this sample of 3 months season are biased. Calde still has better 3% and has always been a better scorer. and bout FT, he almost broke some stupid FT record last year. You can take the overall averages to let the people see the overall picture. BTW today he had 15pts7assists in only two quarters and +36 with him on the court. He's getting form.

Maybe his contract is slighly high for his quality, but he's no no way similar to Beno. He is clearly better. I agree he isn't as versatile as he is a true pg, but no way he's worse.

Were comparing apples and oranges. I like Calderon and a year ago I would have loved to have him. But with the current makeup of the team we don't need another point guard. There's no way Petrie is going to make a trade like this, especially when we need a big man. So this whole thead, while interesting, is fruitless.

better than BENO UDRIH

Would I trade Beno for Calderon? Eh, push, it's just a different skill-set that you're investing in(at a slightly higher pricetag) so I'd probably pass. But the thing is you're not tying up 15 million dollars + annually in Calderon and Beno, that's just stupid.

If Calderon enters, Beno exits. That simple. Martin has much more positive trade value, than Jose "Dont' call me Sergio" Calderon

So then you're admitting that each player is producing on par to what they're paid, comparitively speaking between the two. Which wouldn't make Jose 'clearly' better.

Jose Calderon is a much better player than Beno and only hommers would claim otherwise.

However, the point here is who is a better fit for the Kings and IMHO its Udrih because he can play off the ball and still be effective. Calderon is a true PG and is a better shooter and passer than Beno but he is a PG and PG only and needs the ball to be effective. With Tyreke around, Beno is a better fit for us than Calderon.

Glad I scrolled all the way down before posting, because this is exactly what I would have said. Good post. And all that really needs to be said in this thread. There's no way I see this trade happening. It's pointless.

Eh I think that Beno is a better fit with Reke. If we do trade Martin, and I'm not one of the trade Kevin people unless it's for a legit big man, I'd start Beno or Cisco as the guard next to him. Reke isn't a SG, but he's not a pure PG. He's kind of like Dwyane Wade, and having a player who moves around off the ball but can also help him out with running the team helps him out a lot. Calderon's a pure PG.
