Ok in the pictures the elbow landed on the top of his jersey. It may look like it his chest, but it is definitely part of his neck. That can definitely hurt a guy and like I said earlier I doubt they suspend him, but if there is another Kobe cheap shot incident I will be very angry if there isn't serious repercussions.
The latest is that Derek Fisher has been suspended for Game 3.

Watch the replay - Kobe's elbow hits Artest right under his chin. The picture on ESPN showing Kobe's elbow hitting Artest's chest could have been taken at any point before or after the elbow made contact. That doesn't prove anything. Watch the replay -- Kobe deliberatly throws an elbow at Artest (intentional, not incidental) and the elbow hits Ron directly below his chin. It should be an automatic suspension, but of course it won't be.

Which replay? Could you provide a link? I saw the replay on TNT several times, and I don't see where the elbow hit's Artest's chin at all.

You're right... sorry.
But what's the difference between "below the chin" and the chest? I guess I'm not clear on what hrdboild's point is if he's talking about below the chin as opposed the chest. Maybe I missed what that post was responding to.
I guess if you're claiming it was the neck instead of the upper chest it would make sense, but in that case my original post stands (just replace "chin" with "neck").

2nd: If your going by the rules, then yeah he should be gone for a game, but we all know why a lot of people are tuning and watching the Lakers – Kobe Bryant…That play was physical from the beginning and Kobe should have gotten a flagrant foul for that play. Ron should have gotten a T and the game should have continued. There was no need to toss out Ron. But we all know why he was gone.
The whole Derek Fisher thing was nasty. That was no pick and he must think everybody else is a fool for believing him. That was a hockey slam, an elbow hit. I’m glad the league is tossing him out for a game cause that was uncalled for.
But Derek not being there will cause the other Laker guys to raise the level of their play and I hope the Rockets come out for some revenge. It should be one good game.

This is one rule that bothers me. I know it's intent and but I think it's really dumb. Add that to the fact that players are people and they have reactions to things - they are going to move or get up, the league decides to suspend him anyway...And from what I've heard, Tim Duncan also stepped off the line to. Why didn't he get ejected? Anyway, that was a different series.

Now, as far as the series itself goes, I think it could get very interesting in Houston for game 3. Derek Fisher is a veteran presence I don't think the Lakers can do well without, especially in Houston. I suspect game 3 will feature even more head games...and possibly more flying elbows.
Not a series for the faint of heart by any means.

I can't wait for Game 3. It will definitely help since it's in Houston. But I think the Rockets need to come out early and be physical. Get the crowd in the game. They need to come out with a swagger that says you are not going to push us around.

I think the fisher suspension will hurt the lakers a lot more than most think. fisher hasn't been playing well but he is calm and been through big games and hostile arenas. Can you imagine how loud and crazy Toyota Center will be tonight?
I don't think brown or famar will be able to play as well as they did at home. Its a big difference for most young players like that.

Artest is awesome. I really hope he finishes off the fakers.

I've looked at the video several times now, and while the elbow is clearly high up on Artest, what I'm seeing is that its Kobe's upper arm that actually hits Artest in the throat and sends him back. The elbow probably would have hit Artest in the throat if he had backed off of Kobe. It's also pretty clear that Kobe was throwing elbows in order to intimidate and get position. He has a history of throwing elbows high and should have been T'd up. Artest should not have been tossed, but he should have gotten a T for escelating the issue.
The Lakers were getting really chippy against Scolia prior to Fisher's flaegrent II. That was obviously a message foul that the Fisher/lakers were trying to send to the Rockets, but my watching of it, it simply said we can't compete with you (the Rockets) on a physical level so we will take as many cheep shots at you as we feel we can get away with to try and intimidate you.
I really hope the Rockets send a message back to the Lakers once the series starts up again in Houston. Mostly in the form of 2 blow-outs. But if someone sends an elbow at Kobe's head I wouldn't say I won't smile just a little bit as he picks his whiney butt up off the floor.

Rockets strong on the boards so far and topping LA in several other significant categories at the half. Turnovers a problem for Rockets with Lakers out and running off 7 steals. Scola could be a significant X-factor as he's outplayed Odom who has 3 fouls. Yao is obviously motivated and so far Artest has not had to force his offense. If Brooks and his back court mates clean up the TO's Rockets just might go up 2-1 - but it's a long way to go. Need those Clutch City fans to get into it in a big way too this second half!

This game has been a Yao suckfest.
He's 7' 6 and its gotten to the point where I cringe when he gets the ball on the block. He either gets stripped or stuffed like EVERY play!
Rockets have been sloppy too...And Lakers hitting WAY to many 3's. Rockets should just let Kobe get his (cause he will) and stop leaving these shooters unguarded.
Ah well...Didnt really expect the Rockets to win the series. Woulda been nice though.

It's a shame, but Yao is not playing like the "dominant" center like many here annointed him to be. Dude would rather shoot jumpers, which I don't understand since when he is in the paint, he was grabbing rebounds and finishing. Once that stops, Artest and Von Wafer took over. By the way, Wafer freaking sucks man. He's not instant offense, he's just a chucker.
