They'll wind that back to a F1 or personal foul.
It's actually possible to negate him for stretches by fronting with a big (and even better with a lurking guard). It's a common topic of discussion for Rocketfan.

I assume they will correct the Artest foul between games and probably call it a flgrant 1, which I don't even think it was, but whatever.
Hihgly deceptive boxscore -- looking at the box you would say, wow, ron had 25pts 6rebs, Yao 19pts 14rebs, Scola 10pts 12rebs...but fact of the matter is they all sucked, and Brooks just is not ready for this, and may never be. He was horrid. And for all that, it was the Rockets inability to get the game, and Kobe in particular, in control on defense that did them in. Time after time they got broken down off the dribble and things just went downhill from there. Put a little scare into the Lakers in Game 1, but they are still suffering, and suffering horribly, with being too small, too unathletic, and with out T-Mac, severely lacking offensive options.
Wonder if there is any chance Andre Miller will want to do the "play for the ring" thing in the offseason and take an MLE offer? Could make a world of difference for them.

Lay off the haterade will ya? Someone getting injured is nothing to make fun of. Without Yao they wouldn't have got to the second round or won game 1. The guy was playing hurt all 4th qtr and played through a lot of pain. Not sure if you play sports, but try having any type of ankle, knee or leg injury, and see how it feels to run up and down, boxing out. He tried hard and once again showed heart.
If we had a player as good as Yao on our team we would be in the playoffs right now.
Not sure what really happened on the bench, but there must have been something going on. Scola and Brooks were on the bench for most of the 2nd half until the last couple mins. If there was nothing wrong then actually Rick Adelman is the guy that should be blamed. It was obvious Odom couldn't guard Scola on the post.

Agreed. The NBA is a joke for doing that. He paid for his crime long ago. That was just a play made on the ball. Ron is stronger than Pau and another Rocket kind of bumped him. Just a regular hard foul.
What bothers me is the after the refs reviewed it, they still kept it flagrant 2?

I predicted Lakers in 5 even though I was ecstatic when the Rockets took game 1. I made point that the lose of Deke was likely to be a big blow. Tonight was the evidence. Yao has been playing huge playoff minutes which has left him dragging late in games and now injured. Deke could have given him a spell as a solid backup when needed but now there are no options - except undersized Chuck Hayes or Luis Scola when they go small.

They're putting up more of a battle than expected or than they did in the RS. Defense is tighter. I usually harp about the Lakers' tendency to crawl the ball up for the 1st quarter and survey too long on O in the first road game in a series. This time, they wanted to bury them and they kept pace for over 2 Qs. If that were Utah that LA had that 1st half against, they'd have been up by 15, no doubt about it. Sustaining it for 4 quarters is their bugaboo; your points about the athletic and offensive gap were season-long probs of theirs. That said, I won't bet on LA to twist the knife so this ain't ova.

Mary Jane Gasol when up for a lay up and Ron fouled him hard but clearly made the play on the ball. pau falls to the ground and the refs call flagrant and ejected Ron for the 2nd time in 2 games. All commentators and anyone that sees the replay said it wasn't even a flagrant 1.
The refs had a chance to review the play and kept it as flagrant 2. Clearly a witchhunt on Ron ROn.

In this era, yes. And he's not going to get much leeway, time served or not, for causing the single worst brawl and crowd disturbance in league history. That would probably even be the case in more violent eras.

Stop. There was a minute to go in the game, and the game was lost. It will be corrected between games. Bad call, but the refs were just playing it safe and there should be no long term effect (unles it be on Ron's psyche).

It doesn't make it right. It doesn't make it ok to punish someone for something they didn't do. If past history is to be taken into consideration, kobe has had a long history of dirty play. But the league covered for him once again. kobe led the league in technical fouls just 1 season ago. I don't see him getting the Rasheed treatment.
That's a ridiculous statement and needs to be dropped. He's paid for that. In this series, he has been a model citizen. The Ron of old would have blown up numerous times by now. He has not said or done anything to incite a problem. It's one thing to dislike a guy, which you obviously do, and quite another to abolish him for all eternity. Remorse and rebirth are possible, and Ron Artest has done nothing but play his *** off. Judge him on the series, not on his past mistakes. He didn't punch anybody, he fouled Gasol hard on his arms/body. I would agree with you if it was something malicious, but this was ****ing ridiculous.

When was the last time he did something really egregious. It's been a long time. The Indiana thing is way in the past. He's been ejected two games in a row on a bad call. If Rondo can hit a guy in the face by accident and nowhere near the ball on top of throwing a guy and not even get a technical or flagrant 1, I can't see how Ron can get a flagrant 2 for the foul tonight. It's a joke. A complete and utter joke. Yeah by the rules of the league if ANYONE THROWS AN ELBOW ABOVE THE HEAD HE'S SUSPENDED FOR 1 GAME. But of course Kobe gets the benefit of the doubt, even though he had 4 flagrants during the regular season and has been known to dirty stuff.

i never understood the point of correcting between games, since the outcome of the game "could" have been prevented with the right call. if kobe would have been called for the foul, or given a flagrant, then it would have been the rockets ball which could have lead to points, and ron artest wouldnt have been ejected. but the refs missed the call and you know the rest. this game, ron got unfairly ejected and "fixing" it after the game is pointless. sure there was like a minute left and they were losing by around 10. but teams have come back from that deficit before, i doubt the rockets would have but in the playoffs anything could have happened. but we will never know due to these blown calls that are "fixed" after the game when no one cares

Correcting between games makes a considerable difference -- you accumulate flagrant points in the playoffs, 1 for a F1, 2 for an F2. When you reach 4 points, you are automatically suspended. right now ron has 2 points. By gametime next game he should have 1 or maybe even none. Big difference.
And no, the Rockets weren't coming back in this one.
You are dancing around the obvious point, which is the fact that tonight's actions by the refs should not be defended. If the Rockets were down by 1 instead of 10, would you be saying the same thing? The point is to get the correct call at the moment, not two days later. And no, I don't care they were down by ten, this is about terrible officiating not the game itself.
VF - I kept asking myself that question the whole time. You're down by 10 anyway, you need shooters, not immobile big men that have been playing like crap anyway. He was in so much obvious pain it hurt me watching it.
BBR - watching that video, I don't understand how anybody can say that was not a premeditated, dangerous elbow. Directly in the throat, and no, it was not jockying for position. That was clearing out a player that had no way to protect himself. Every one of us here knows that if that was Ron, they would have taken him out back and shot him. Then called a Flagrant 2
