[Game] Kings vs. Wolves, 11/10/10 7PM

Beasley AKA Jordan.

It would be great if he blows up and becomes a star after Pat Riley traded him away for a 2nd rounder. I mean, that was the most shameless tank in history what the Heat did in the Rose sweepstakes. I remember Riley was scounting players with 20 something games left in the NBA season. SMH.

I still think his jumper is improved. What are all the accounts he hasnt improved his jumper? It looks better, he IS shooting more now than he was early last year. I have no problem with the frequency right now. As he will ALWAYS he a better driver than shooter.

There is no significant improvement to his jumpshot because he isn't using it as a weapon. He's not consistent enough to be a threat for the jump shot, so nobody has to worry about playing him for the jumper. He barely takes them, just like last season. He's inconsistent when he does take them, just like last season. If he could recognize that teams are playing him for the drive, then he can counter with the jumpshot, forcing teams to adjust, similarly to how players like Wade and Kobe see so much success. They developed the tools, and that is exactly what Evans needs to do if he doesn't want to stagnate and remain the same guy for the rest of his career.

This is an easy game for your argument, but this may have been the least effective game of his career. He is a very effective player. And you could say "He needs to incorporate more into his game" about every player in the league. Sure he does. No argument there. He DOES make teams search for answers to his game .. I dont know why you think he doesnt. He just didnt have it offensively from the get go tonight, but I have seen many teams make changes because of what he is doing to their defense.

I really don't know why this is so hard for you to understand. Evan's entire game, what makes him effective, is the dribble drive. That's it. Everything he does well, everything that helps the team that he does, is based off that. I am arguing for him to incorporate things into his game to reach Kobe-level options, not to stagnate as a borderline all star guard like a Joe Johnson or Steven Jackson. I don't know why you want to argue against making himself a top player in this league, because you seem to think that what I am saying is trying to change what makes him effective. Rather, I'm trying to argue about making him effective in more areas of the game other than just the dribble drive. If he does, he can become a top player in this game. If not, and you are happy with a 20 ppg player who will always be limited, then by all means enjoy.

Way to base your entire "He isnt any better than last season" argument on one game! good call! Yes, he needs to work on the offensive fouls. Even still, he is far more likely to find an open man/score/draw the foul then get called for the charge. They got him tonight, hats off to them.
I'm not basing it on this one game. I'm basing it on every game I've seen him play after he concluded his rookie campaign.

As and aside, I also see him losing some versatility. The Kings last season exploited his size and strength advantage by posting him on on his smaller defenders. Now, they are totally ignoring that aspect of his game.

Terrible Twolves come into Sac after losing in LA last night. Kings rested after two days of practice. And this sh*t happens?! Well at least they practice again tommorow before flying to Phoenix for next game on Friday. Actually, they don't need a full practice, just shoot a few thousand free throws and wind sprints. A lecture by the coaches to the big men (suppose to be Kings strength) about getting ball into hands of the guards instead of dribbling like they imagine they're Magic Johnson. &#@&*$%@

Well, there is no point in going back and forth on this anymore. Ive had many conversations with people like yourself. You are totally putting words in my mouth and assuming things I never said to make your point. Saying that I am arguing against wanting him to become a top player in this league?? Think about that for a minute .. Is that really what I said? Nope, didnt think so.

The basic reason I commented on your original post is because you were wrong. You said that Evans hasnt improved. He has improved. He isnt a finished product. Thats that. He is better now than he was at the beggining of last season. He improved as last year went on, he is better now that he was at the end of last season. He is smarter, he has more experience under his belt, statistically his jumpshot HAS been better. His passing / vision is better.

Look, I hope he becomes better than Jordan. I hope he becomes a Barkley like rebounder, a Stockton like passer, a Pippen like defender, a Kobe like finisher, a Bird like jumpshooter ... you get the point. I love the Kings, I like what I am seeing from Evans, and I think he is right on track in terms of development. I suppose you do not, which is fine. The season just started.

Just to add something, who do you think is going to get traded first at the deadline? Carl, Donte or JT? That should be interesting to see for sure.

Who knows. But what I do know, of those three Landry definitely has most value right now - I didn't say upside - although maybe that too. Donte is barely an NBA roster player whether he has potential or not. JT is valuable for somebody who wants a filler rebounder whose potential is fading with each passing month it seems. At this point DJax is better.

You were pretty clear on arguing against me when I talked about expanding his game. You were pretty clear on saying you didn't want him to change his style and become a different player.

The fact is, he isn't any different of a player than he was last season, therefore, he hasn't improved. His jumper isn't more consistent to the point of it being a weapon. His passing isn't that much better either. What is different is that he's not dumping it off to Jason "I can't finish in traffic" Thompson, or Donte Green who never saw a 3 he didn't like, and that players this season are actually finishing better. He probably would have had 7+ assists last season with better finishers. His entire game is still based around the dribble drive, so no, there hasn't been this drastic improvement. He's the same player.

I haven't seen any of what you just said so far this season. And this is where we can't agree, because it's all opinion and observation. IMO, if he was smarter, he wouldn't be making the exact same mistakes he was making last season.

His jumper is MUCH improved.

The jumper off the dribble, not so much.

He's also added the ability to find people around the hoop off the penetration. Its not all just kickouts now.

Significant steps. Not everything, but significant steps. And just a bad game of course.

How about all three? We can only pray...

Yeah, pray that somebody will be willing to take them off our hands. How much you wanna bet as soon as they get traded they would flourish under their new team just because the coach knows how to utilize them properly. Just a thought.

I'd have to agree with you on that one. If we can get any sort of value what so ever, it would be from Carl. Problem is, I don't know if teams want to trade for a player that will be a free agent in a couple of months prior to the deadline anyways.

This is way too early in the season to have this kind of performance. Just a stinker. Seemed like it was a going through the motions kind of game and guys were just in a funk. And that's after two days of practice? Makes you wonder what the hell is going on. Is Donte Greene now infectious?

Man it is absolutely outstanding to me how we can have more talent but we have clearly regressed as a team so far. Our whole offense is a mess and it directly comes from a whole bunch of things. JT is not a small forward period he has no range on his jumper hence he cant open up the floor. I was a huge PW fan last year but 7 games in and Im quickly growing tired of him. Our offense didnt llook this bad without Reke on the bench last year. Flash forward to tonight and after Reke fouls oout we are playing nobody who can get their own shot. Omri should of been the guy to come in for Reke hes the only guy who can do his own thing outside of number 13. Its early in the season but wow at how this is starting to look. Westphal needs to open this offense up because this is boring basketball and it makes no sense to me because last year this team was one of the more entertaining teams to watch even if you werent a fan.

He hasn't added that. He's had it. Only, last season, he was dumping it off to guys who couldn't finish around the rim: JT and Hawes. The only difference is now he is dumping it off to players who are actually getting him assists instead of turning the ball over, or missing point blank shots, or getting rejected.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing in my mind too. Last year we clearly didn't struggle this badly on offense, sure we still were awful on defense but we stayed in games because we kept scoring the basketball. Even without Tyreke in some of our games, we put up 100+ easily. I really don't understand what's going on, maybe it's the lack of spacing, playing 4 on 5, sometimes 3 on 5 basketball. Who knows!
