Didn't get to see the game. Judging from tweets and boxscore checks, it seemed like the Rockets exploded via bad defensive match-ups and long rebounds leading to second shots and extra threes. They continued chucking while the refs put a clamp on Cousins. Bench did okay. Cousins tried to hero mode the team back in the final minutes.

More of the same. A few good games to give a little optimism then some games that bring you right back down to the basement. Yay moral victory! We don't play consistently EVER. Honestly, what's the difference between this year and any of the last 8-9 except for players coaches etc? They all blend together and none of it has been particularly exciting.

The sentiment that "it's nice to see they didn't give up" is so defeatist and pathetic now after 10 years of futility. The problem is I just really don't have any faith that we'll be good weather we keep Cousins or rebuild at this point.
We just couldn't overcome that 1st quarter. It's nice to see that we don't give up though.

I think there is a lot to be positive about. Temple took the ball away from Harden 1v1 in iso coverage. I would have had Temple closing out the game instead of Casspi. What a find GT is! Lawson looks to be getting his pep back. I really liked the crew of Collison, GT, Barnes out there. I thought we outplayed them but not enough to come away with a win. We MUST get better at beating the 3pt chucking schtick teams like Houston.

I feel pretty good about the road trip, actually. Disregarding the records of the teams involved, you look at our last five losses, and how those teams normally play, and how they beat us, and the kind of basketball that we're vulnerable to... and we only play two teams on the road trip that can actually play like that. It'd be too presumptuous to predict 5-1, but I'd be astonished if we did worse than .500.

Personally, I'm calling 4-2.

Brooklyn and Philly punked us last year when we had the attitude they were easy W's, remember? This team still has the same lackadaisical mental midget attitude...not much has changed.

Boston and NY are better than us, Dallas is horrid so I would hope we at least could get that one, DC is about equal to us. Honestly, I see 2-4 coming up, maybe 3-3 to be super optimistic.

Not a terrible description, but the complete lack of energy to start the game was what caused many of those early threes. Cuz was slightly awake, nobody else at all. Collison and Rudy were horrid to start.

Also of note was that Temple very obviously came in in the 2nd and began to singlehandedly wake us up with hustle and D up top. And Omri got to play, and eventually fed off Temple's energy and joined the hustle. From that point onward we outplayed the Rockets, but the hole had reached a ridiculous 29pts so just no way to get all the way back.

Once again a team beat us with ball movement while we just fed the ball to one guy in a stagnant offense. Hell harden, the best player on the floor, didn't even get most of his puts until the 4th. Everybody from their team contributed. Our team, well, we couldn't even get defensive boards and it's not like we were extremely undersized. Smh.

Because we have wasted our past two draft picks. WCS doesn't even get in the game and Papa is in the Bermuda Triangle. Have you watched Chriss play? Sabonis from the Thunder? We sure could use either of those guys right now but instead we drafted a garbage center who is so bad he cannot enter a game.

First of All™, I don't know that nine-point and five-point losses count as "punking," but YMMV. Second of all, "easy wins" is y'all's thing. I don't humor such conversation. I'm talking about style. Philadelphia doesn't play a style that we're particularly vulnerable to, and neither does Brooklyn. Both teams beat us with guard play last year, which we're still vulnerable to, but both teams also took a significant step back with their guard play. Between personnel changes and style changes, I don't honestly believe that either one of those teams is capable of playing the way that they beat us last year. If anything, we match up better with Philadelphia, with their two-big offense.

You say that Boston and New York are better than us... that's whatever. They certainly have a better record than we do, I'll stipulate that. I'm not going to be the one who indulges you in an argument about how good they are or aren't. But, I'll tell you this much: they aren't as good as Cleveland, which is simply to say, they aren't elite. There isn't a Cavaliers game on this road trip, or a Warriors game, or a Spurs game, or a Clippers game. There isn't even a Bulls game. If you want to call 3-3 "super-optimistic", then you do you. I'll just say this: there isn't a single game on this road trip where I look at it and say, "There ain't no way in hell we can win there!"

Your a one trick pony. Every post is a direct or indirect attack against Divac.....I think all you get from folks here is a rolling of the eyes. Maybe you should try educating yourself on the game a bit.

So you would rather have Papa than Sabonis? ok sounds about right. What is wrong with my post? We have no big men because they are all sitting on the bench or in Reno

To be fair if they were on this team their game would suffer. In fact the game of every player on the team not named Cousins or Gay suffers when either of those 2 are in. Notice how the ball moved when they were out yesterday

Indeed, I have often noticed how the Kings have a +12.8 offensive rating with Boogie on/off the court, and a +11.1 offensive rating with Rudy on/off the court, and said, damn! If we could just get those guys off the court we could get back to playing the beau game and watch our roleplayers pass the ball back and forth in beautiful unselfish fashion waiting for the 24 second clock to expire because they don't have any ability to create their own shots.

+/- is a terrible stat. Tell me the W/L stat with them playing heavy minutes. Because that's the only one that matters.

Uh huh.

You know your argument was ill conceived when you are reduced to shouting Scoreboard!!! at the first pass.
Really?
Looking at the specific weights in the offensive efficiency measure we see a problem. In discussing the NBA Efficiency metric – which the NBA presents at its website – I argue that this measure fails to penalize inefficient shooting. The regression of wins on offensive and defensive efficiency reveals that shooting efficiency impacts outcomes in basketball. The ball does indeed have to go through the hoop for a team to be successful.Cousin and Rudy take many of the teams shots so it inflates their rating.

I would suggest you stick with game outcomes, but you keep cheering for that Cousins offensive efficiency. I'll cheer for the W.

The 4 most important stats leading to a W are:
  • Shoot a high field goal percentage (10).
  • Do not commit turnovers (5-6).
  • Get offensive rebounds (4-5).
  • Get to the foul line frequently (2-3).
How do our stars match other teams stars on that?

What's wrong with your post? You asked so I'll tell you - it's the same thing over and over again. Regardless of the thread/topic, you bring out the same tired refrain as though repeating it ad nauseum will make it true.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that the "W/L stat" with Cousins and Gay playing heavy minutes is slightly better than when they don't. But that's just a guess...
And how many playoff berths have they delivered? I mean if they are our offense then they better be good enough to carry the team to the playoffs. Sure we are better but a leaf may be better for wiping ones butt with than sandpaper but I'd prefer to throw them both out and try something new.

For me, it isn't even the "over and over" part. I mostly accept that there is base level of "beating a dead horse"-edness to the internet. For me, it's how he appears to look at every thread as a challenge of, "Let me see how I can make this about Vlade Divac, and/or the draft picks!"

At this point, I feel like he'd figure out a way to make a discussion about the garlic fries on sale in the food court about Divac.
To be fair the kings franchise keeps spouting out the same garbage over and over again. They keep asking fans to trust the process..insisting that things will improve this and next year. Well it's been over a decade of terrible, not mediocre ball...and we find ourselves in a position with draft pick uncertainty to go along w low impact FA signings every year. I for one understand fan frustration. DONT BLAME THE FAN when the franchise promises and never delivers. Yah Vlade may be an innocent bystander but unfortunately Vivek set him up.

I don't blame the Fan for being frustrated. I don't blame the Fan for being unhappy. I blame the Fan for appearing to make it their personal crusade to drag other Fans down to their level of unhappiness.

I did not trust the Karl process. I did not trust the Corbin process. But I sincerely believe that this process is one to believe in. We should give it time.
And that is where most are except the few who just vent on every post. There are good things happening. The hiring of Joerger can't be underestimated. He said it himself that this would be a year and a half process...there will be some frustrations along the way, like the Houston game, but hopefully there is progress too.

You know, none of the last forty posts or so have had anything to do with the Rockets game. Or even really the Kings at all. If that was a discussion that you really wanted resolution to, the Conversation system works.
