It's been proven that you can't have any offense with a guy who isn't a driving threat and no inside threat on the floor. It doesn't take a genius to tell you that Jimmer Fredette isn't going to be effective with NDiaye "commanding double teams" inside. But it appears Malone's strategy is to build a big lead with all the starters, do a platoon substitution and hope the lead doesn't erode too much. So far it's worked..

Honestly though. Jimmer, outlaw, ndaiye geez if all three were free agents tomorrow I'm not sure any of them would get signed. Yet that's our bench tonight plus a struggling Thornton

the problem with that strategy is that if the bench loses the lead and the starters come in while the other team has momentum, i doesnt work. im not a big fan of subbing by committee. would have covered some of our flaws mixing in some starters with the bench

Also kind of puts to light how much Thornton has fallen off a cliff. Dude simply does not have a fraction of the scoring ability he had the previous 2 years

Exactly. IT doesn't need Cousins in the game to score. Jimmer does. We should have taken Cousins out way earlier, let IT run the show and then have Cousins come back in after 1-2 minutes once Jimmer comes in for IT. I can almost guarantee we will be no better off with that same lineup with Ray instead of Jimmer

One of Williams or Thompson go to bench. Gray>ndaiye. If ray gets a shot tonight right now the backup of spot is wide open. If he shows anything I mean really just anything it's his because jimmer just blew his look.

Uh....Jimmer hasn't played point all year and was playing with no inside threat at all. Not sure that is a recipe for success. It may take more than 5 minutes to get a custom to that position.

Malone has to get used to not have the 18 PPG bullet in his gun if he keeps IT as a starter. The "play 5 subs" has worked this season because IT has allowed it to work

There's a way around it.

Keep one of Cuz/Gay on the floor as much as possible. Sub one at 4 min mark, other at the quarter break, then bring one back at the 8-9 min mark, other at 5 min mark. So only roughly 6 mins per game without either on the floor. That's just an example though, the pattern can be different. Brooks does it with KD/WB, LA does it with Pau/Kobe, Miami does it at times with Wade/Lebron.

I'd also start Gay/JT and bring Williams off the bench.
