I agree with you. And if this means we'll still get either Jimmer or Walker also, I like it. There's probably more to come though.

I'm not as opposed to this deal as some are. Salmons can defend, (kind of) shot, has experience winning (for some reason teams he's traded to make the playoffs in that season), and has the second funkiest beard in the NBA. At 3, he is a definite upgrade from

And if we can somehow just convince him to take a less *ahem* pro-active role in the offense, this trade will work out in our favor, especially if we can snag a PG (now our biggest need) with the ten or trade it for another (words that OKC may be looking to trade Maynor for a rookie PG since they don't think they can afford him). So to everyone out there, I say:

That's kind of what i was thinking. The only thing that baffles me is that if they're willing to take on Salmon's contract, why not just take on Jefferson's and get Parker with him? Makes me wonder if that Parker deal was ever legit.
You know I would be hard pressed to make up a worse deal than this. So help me if I have to listen to PW and Petrie defend the acquisition of Salmons I'm going to go on a bender. And funny part is this would take any of the positive air out of picking Jimmer. When I heard the Maloofs saying they would spend more money, I thought they meant guys that would actually make the team better.

For those saying Salmons is the starter at the 3 we would be better off with Evans at the 3. They are both 6'6'.

Jefferson's contract is bigger than Salmons isn't it? Plus I think the combo of Salmons and Jimmer fill the main needs of the Kings better than Parker/Jefferson. Perimeter defense and shooting.

I'm not against trading Salmons for someone better, but he is a great 3rd option for us at the 3 spot and can also play the 2. I've always though people hated on him too much when he was on our team and he was actually a very good player.
He defends the top perimeter guys very well and he can score. If we end up keeping him, I would not be mad at all. He is what Leonard can become in about 3-4 years.

Wow so now the Jazz are trying to get ahead of us to grab Jimmer. So not only did we lose the only real PG on our team, move back in the draft, and take on 2 extra years of Salmons contract, we might lose the guy we targeted because this deal broke so early. Great job Petrie, what an epic draft blunder!

We don't know that Jimmer is Petrie's target. We're just assuming it is. Maybe he wanted Walker or Burks. Or maybe he likes them all and will just take whatever one is available.

Or another way to look at is they got rid of a guard they no longer need and added a defensive SF who can shoot the three.
