Geoff was mad he had to trade away Salmons before the end of the MLE we signed him too, and so got him back to play out 4 more years of his contract.
Well, seriously, I do not like John Salmons. A pouty little glum me player. BUT, there is a theory here. Personality aside, which Geoff probably likes since he has none either, when we have talked about what we neded froma SF, we said, defense, three point shooting, and maybe the ability to berign the ball up some to take pressure off of Reke. Well, guess what John Salmons brings? And given that we just got rid of Beno, the other possibility is what have we talked about as a good fit next to Reke as a SG? Well defense, some ability to create, knock down spot up threes -- a new Doug Christie. Skillwise, Salmons is in the mold. Of course its the mentality, and endless contract which are the big questions. He's never happy. Ever. He plays for himself. He has passing skills, and yet is still mostly known as a ball pounding blackhole, which just won't work. If he just came back here with a major attitude transplant the skillset is almost right (although if he's the SF we will now have the worst rebounding SFs in the league, by far). But alas, he's still been John Salmons. Most recently being unable to work consistently with two other top young PGs in Rose and Jennings. Now he gets to give it a try with Reke.
