[Game] Kings @ Miami Game Thread 2/22

:p

Petrie has said the team won't make a deal unless its even $$$ wise (baring someone willing to give up a star), so what can we get for $3 mil ?

We do not want Brandon Rush. The dude hates Sacramento and was dissing on our city saying its the boringest place to go in the NBA and he hates coming here.

Playing like he did for the Rockets and for us last year... i think he's capable of those numbers with starting minutes.

I think that even if he is, which he might not be if he were gameplanned against, that its a losing strategy. You give up too much on the glass and defense (and passing for that matter) to justify largely 1 on 1 stop the offense type scoring as a starter. As a bencher you can hide him somewhat. Tell him to come in firing against backups who won't hurt you as bad the other way. Carl might be able to put up those numbers, but if its not helping you win, then its not really important.

That's what I was alluding too attitude wise.

The very sad thing is that there is no guarantee his opinion of Sacramento is going to matter after the next few months.

Danny Granger is perfect, and I mean perfect vet star (borderline superstar) for Kings to snag - if at all possible. A real solid citizen that the fans would love to death (whatever Kings fans get to see him in purple). I will be drooollling if it happens!!! Fingers crossed!!!

Granger is NOT getting traded. Its not hard to join the dots here. Landry is the only one from our regular rotation that has not played tonight and at Indiana, Rush has played MINIMAL minutes (6 to be exact) in a blowout! Its pretty clear that if the deal gets done with Indiana, it will be for Rush and possibly some change.

"@WindhorstESPN: If Carl Landry knows where he's going, he's not saying. But he was in a pretty good mood." Ya think

He's definitely best suited as a great backup on a good team. He's still a valued piece and I would like to get a little more than trash for. I'm sick fair trades... lets make one where we win for once.

So we would have basically traded Kevin Martin for Brandon Rush and cap space..... ugh...

Can't realy say ugh until you know how the capsapce is spent.

Let's say its Brandon Rush and Jeff Green (free agent this summer who should command in that range) -- still look that unbalanced?

Landry will help out Hornets big time!!!

STEIN_LINE_HQ Sacramento and New Orleans closing in on deal that would send Carl Landry to Hornets for Marcus Thornton and David Andersen

Yeah, that would be pretty cool. I'm just worried we are going to use that space to sign 5 mikki moore's instead of Jeff greene....

Looks like Landry was smiling cause he gets to play with Chris Paul. This from Marc Stein at ESPN:

Not a bad move -- wish we could've gotten Mayo for his fit with our ballhandling needs (even more so with Reke out) to go along with the shooting, but Thornton is athletic and can shoot as well. The only regret is that we won't get to see how he jives with Reke on the court. At least for the next 3 weeks.

Thornton is a 37% 3pt shooter in his young NBA career! much needed.....going to look good for Anaheim Royals.

Anybody know how Thornton plays defense?

D is not Thornton's strong suit. Reportedly, NOLA did not like several aspects of his game including ball hog at times. I'm willing to give him a look but not terribly optimistic he's part of the puzzle on a Kings team missing so many important pieces.

From Yahoo sports on what Hornets thought of Thornton leading up to trade:

• Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! reports the Hornets are looking for front court help and dangling Marcus Thornton as bait. That surprises me a bit, because Thornton’s back-court scoring can be crucial for a team that really struggles to score at times. But Monty Williams has never been comfortable with the other aspects of Thornton’s game. Sacramento’s Carl Landry — a huge disappointment for much of this season — is among the targets.
