Message to Pedja and Mike:

Buy a dictonary and look up the word pride

How can You look Your teammates in the eyes ?

I think Mike and Pedja both have pride. Bibby definitely has pride. They just had an off night, which is normal for all NBA players. I highly doubt they will both have back to back off nights.

Just curious to know how many double doubles it takes to completely put the hush mouth on the Webber doubters. He closed alot of them up during preseason.
Yeah, but he missed free throws.

Geez I have never seen Kingsfans this harsh towards its players in past years. First game of the season on the road against a playoff team that was hot. Come on ppl we shot terrible and was still in it at the end. if i recall we lost to Denver, New York, and Boston last year in our first 6 games going 3-3 . We beat Minnesota in the same 6 game span. All 4 of those on the road but yet we were so awesome at the beginning of the year last year? The past 3 years in fact we were very suspect the first 2 weeks of the season.

I saw good passes that weren't assists. You saw bad passes and nothing to be upbeat about.

YOu've been a fan for a long time, right? Why let one game bring you down so badly? Most people predicted the Kings wouldn't sweep this Texas road trip; in fact, most of us will be happy with 1 win and ecstatic with two.

We aren't going to win all 82 games. The teams of the NBA have too much parity for any team to dominate as we've seen in the past. That doesn't mean the Kings won't be competitive. I watched them on TV and I watched them against Phoenix in person a few nights ago. I'm not ready to throw in the towel because we have a lot of potential, a lot of really good players, and it's a long way til the playoffs.
I understand it's only 1 out of 82. But this year the way they start the season just make my stomach sick. Same old story of getting killed in transition, getting killed on the board. I just wonder what it takes to turn thing around.

I sounds negative but I am a long time follower too. There's no way I am throwing my towel. I just can't say 'it's just an off night..' tonight.

Peace. :)

Doug has plantar fasciitis, the same condition that sidelined Pedja. One problem with Pedja was that he tried to play on it too early, and he exacerbated the situation. As a result of learning from that situation, IMHO, they're being more careful with Doug. About six weeks ago, he had a sonic treatment. He is doing good, but is definitely rusty. He isn't injured; he's with the team and may or may not play tomorrow. They want to bring him back slowly to make sure the foot is okay.

Just curious how we got killed on the boards when rebounds were tied 43 to 43. Peja was 0-7 from 3 and 3-15 from the field. Bibby 2-8. Yes i do believe it was an off shooting night when our 2 best shooters combine 5-23.

Entity - It's not that they're being so harsh, IMHO. I think there are different ways of looking at this first loss, especially depending on what you expected from the game.

I look at it this way. Better the fans be here, discussing the loss and their feelings, than throwing themselves under a bus.

;)

The thing that frustrated me about listening to the game was that it sounded as if the Mavs in the first three quarters were allowed to do just about whatever they wanted to do on offense. I was also concerned at Peja's and Bibby's lack of production, but because I can't see the game, I can't tell if either is really being bothered by his defender, or if he is just having an off night.

I like Barnes. Evans didn't seem to hurt us. Did some other player on the team get an unwarranted nickname a bit early? Kevin, welcome to Mr. Wallace's old seat on the Kings' bench. Your 40+ inch vertical should do you wonders from there.

I like that Miller showed Dampier what an All Star center in the West is. I like that CWebb battled, but I hate that he can't hit free throws in the AAC.

Started off on the wrong foot tonight, but it's just one step in 82. Plenty more ahead.

Evans did hurt a little.. a couple of times his miscommunication caused a couple turnovers

I dunno the bus thing sounds good at this point. If it were our 20th game or so against Golden State i could see it. Dallas i feel is going to win their division. All i want to know is how last year when Webber went 3-15 ppl wanted him to retire and go the bench but Peja does it, its just an off shooting night. I say start Barnes at SF. whos with me.

Begining of the official Barnes starting at the 3 spot commitee.

i think we are just going through the stages of grief.

first it's denial, then it's anger.
i am definitely in the anger stage right now.
truth to be told, it may just be an over-reaction
but we've had a bad playoff. we are eager to prove ourselves again.
then we get a worse pre-season. we try to calm ourselves with thoughts such as "well, it's just pre-season. wait til the real games start"
well, the real games have started. now what?

Now what? Well, it's like this. There are 82 games. Of those 82, most predict we will win about 50-55. That leaves 27-32 we will not win (lose).

Tonight was one of those losses.

Although I don't have the statistics handy, I suspect top teams win their opening games at home more often than they lose them. Dallas - playing at home - was able to hold on to a lead and win, facing a team without Doug Christie, and with Pedja and Bibby MIA... If anything, they might want to be just a little concerned. ;)

Sorry everyone but if we go 1-2 on this trip I will be happy. We are going to be playing the Texas triangle with each team having their home opener. I like the way the team played today except for Bibby and Peja(someone needs to tell Peja it's not the playoffs and it's okay for him to score). Webb looked good but the team needs to cut down on the turnovers. Remember, it's still an 82 game season and not to stress over a game here and there.

Man, this team plays some ugly *ss basketball.

Hoist up a shot, miss , run all over the floor for the board and try to force it back in. The Mavs played with us this game like we did with them for years ... passing until you get an open look, and knocking it down.

Are you aware that Dallas is in the same division as San Antonio, Houston and Memphis? I wouldn't be surprised if they finished fourth in their division.

Slow down, yo; it was just one game...
Dallas, wont win the division, but it will probably be 2nd. Don't think that Houston and Memphis are better than them.

And I don't think that Entity was saying that we should actually replace Peja, he was just talking abt the way people had reacted to Webber and abt trading him becasue of his bad performance in some of the games returning from an injury.

Overall, I'm happy with what I saw tonight.

Hell, if nothing else, it was more exciting then the blow outs and kooky rotations we saw in the preseason.

As far as Bibby and Peja -- I'm not at all worried about Bibby. He missed shots, and had some bad turnovers, but man....you could tell he was trying to get his game going. Peja, on the other hand, just didn't seem terribly bothered by his performance. That worries me just a little.

But, I'm remaining positive, so I'll close with: YAY!!! BASKETBALL IS BACK!!!

--SLAB's Take--

Well, I'll be blunt...I did not expect a win tonight. Dallas' home opener, first game, no Christie. I wasn't to optimistic.

There were a handful of bright spots, but for every bright spot there was a dark spot, overshadowing the light.

--The Good!--

--Matt Barnes---What can you say? He had an awesome game. Hit the three had 9 rebounds, hustled, scored. Definatly the highlight of the night! Thank God that we kept Barnes above Bluth!

--Chris Webber---When he played inside, he looked awesome. He had quickness, and was making a bunch of really nifty moves. Didn;t rely on the jumper, which is good!

--Brad Miller---Scored himself a good game! Shot really well from the outside, and played inside in the first quarter. Didn't rebound like he;s capable of. Hopefully that will change.

--Greg Ostertag---Came in. Altered shots. What more do you want?

--The Bad...--

--Peja---Yuck...Just yuck. A horrible game. With a capital H. "H"orrible. Nuff' said.

--Bibby---See above. Did hit an important three though.

--The rotation---Lots of open shots. But the Mavs were whippin the ball around like the Kings of old.

--Evans---Well, he was more neutral. Didn't impress, but didn't play horrible.

--Songaila---Another neutral.

--Flash---Well...He played like a true #20-something draft pick. Given the minutes of one, too.

So actually, overall I think there is a lot of positives to this game. Peja/Bibby are NOT gonna play like that all the time, and we didn't have Christie. Sure, Barnes won't play like that all the time, but if Peja/Bibby produce, it will more than make up for it.

And a Mav-related side note. Dirk is awesome. Just awesome.
