That honestly might be where I am at this point. As crazy as it would have sounded before the season, it feels like the Kings are only one piece away from being true contenders.

Kings fans over here talking about how to move off the treadmill and on to the track. Are we really worthy of hopping on the treadmill and then trying to move on to the track tho?
This is actually the energy we need, and the energy we deserve. This middle manager crap and treadmill crap doesn't even BEGIN to define us. This loyal fan base from its very roots is worthy of this turnaround.
I just hope we don't just let anyone on our bandwagon as apparently Hawks fans are knocking at our door.

It's Keegan jumping into at least a #3 option, finding a 16 MPG backup C, and most importantly getting a beefed up KZ archetype to play 25 MPG off the bench as their 8th guy.
Oh, and resigning Barnes.
If you ask me, beyond getting the backup C, we should hold off on it until the draft. Just being over .500 and getting into the first round makes this season a success.

And I want to see more of the attitude we saw from Keegan tonight. He didn't have a great game stat wise but he looked different. Like that rookie nod pushed him and gave him confidence. I think Brown might start kicking his tires soon and see what he's got. Heck, he actually gave him a post play right at the start. If he can be close to that guy then than opens up a ton of options for Monte.
I love Poeltl too, but I think he's very likely headed for a starting job/money in the off-season. At least with Collins/Bamba you get an extra year and they potentially can be just as good as Poeltl.
And I think Monte is just going to have to draft defense. With the cap situation and likely retaining Barnes, I just don't see how we make a play for a Cam Johnson/Grant Williams type to get their teams not to match deals. At least with McDermott we know we're getting already built in chemistry for Domas and fortifying a strength even more with his spacing and scoring. The 2nd unit really does need someone taller than 6'3 that can score a basketball.

We'll see, not really what we've seen from Monte though, haha. I'm sure he'll be looking at the OG's/LaVines/Beals and whoever he can to put next to his core of Fox and Domas. The reality is Monte's clock probably pretty much runs out when him having Domas on a discount does. If he can dump Holmes at the deadline or draft night then things get interesting.

lol my son and sat 1st row the other night vs Utah next to the kings bench. Not even exaggerating when I say I did not see or hear him talk once the entire game

The Gobert trade really mucked things up, and I'm not sure we can do with the protections we added to our pick in the Huerter trade. OG's asking price is apparently the same as Donovan Mitchell, it's absolute lunacy.
I know you can remove the '24 protections, but that would be beyond stupid.

Monte and staff will have to decide if they think Keegan can be a second or third option on this team. If they think he can they will have to allow him to develop into that role and have the proper amount of touches available to him. You can see his game rounding out and expanding a bit. His passing was telegraphed and slow early and now they are mostly crisp and the reads are faster. He is going a little harder at the rim now than he was initially. Still a lot of growth potential there.
3 words for ya - Brooklyn Nets Game .... Brown's making a mistake letting him sit. The bench is missing his absence. Need to mix in his energy.
If we assume that Sabonis is 100% resigning, the Kings don't need to do anything drastic. They've already shown insane improvement this season, go be above .500 and hopefully get to a 7-game playoff series. Draft well again next off-season, look to add a piece or 2 to the bench and see how much the Fox/Sabonis offensive duo can continue to develop and where Keegan is at in his development as the potential 3rd banana for them. That also gives them a whole off-season/training camp under Brown's system and hopefully bringing back most of the core to continue building chemsitry and an actual winning culture.
I'd think the end of next season is where you can start making calls about pushing all your chips in for an all-star. You'll have all your pick protections back at that point since the FRP to ATL hopefully conveys in 24 and you'll have a better idea of what Keegan/Davion are going to be as players as main "chips" in trades.

I'm not sure. We're seeing coach Brown experiment with lineups and minutes for the bench guys. It seems like he rewards them for playing good, but if they start to struggle, he decreases benches them. Holmes started the season playing like 15mpg before getting something like 15 DNPs? Now he's getting a couple minutes here and there.
Lyles played some rotational minutes before struggling and being replaced by Metu. Metu was getting solid rotational minutes before struggling and getting DNPd for Lyles... We saw Delly play some big minutes in place of injury... but he hasn't played since. KZ started the year off as a starter before getting DNPd... but now he's back to playing a couple minutes every 4-5 games?
I think TD is in the Brown-cycle right now. He'll probably eventually start playing again...
Monk is probably the only exception to the rule because he operates as our 6th man and a very important part of our bench success.

Yeah no clue, but Davis sticks out with some outstanding energy and strength - he's a ball-hog and lacks some playmaking , but brings it. To get no minutes is a mystery. He heavily contributed to the Toronto win in his one starting game when Huerter was injured.
Metu benching I understand more, as his defense was gawd-awful. Lyles is up-and-down, but good enough playmaking upside and rebounding to make up for his off-shooting nights.

We shot 28% from 3 tonight. This had to be one of the only victories we have had with that type of shooting night from range.

The Thunder if Russell Westbrook actually played team basketball could have been a threat to win it all with healthy Victor/Sabonis instead both were spot up shooters.....
eh, idk. Sabonis was probably misused under Donovan, but to give Donovan the benefit of the doubt, it was Sabonis' rookie year, and they already had Steven Adams and Enes Kanter at the C positions. Neither C could shoot. Their SG was also Andre Roberson who's probably the all-time worst shooting, shooting guard in the history of the league. This isn't an exaggeration lol.
This forced Billy Donovan to use Sabonis as more of a stretch 4 to help with floor spacing.
With Markkanen, it's kind of hard to fault Donovan at all. Markkanen peaked after his 2nd year regressed from that point on until this season. Last year he played under JB Bickerstaff in Cleveland and looked ok. In reality, Markkanen is on his 3rd team in 3 years, and sometimes it takes that type of scenery to reset. I don't think Will Hardy or Utah excepted Markkanen to be this good so far.
