Kings going in the right direction?

The Kings, in general, are headed in the right direction?

There is a reason that I added this thread/poll. I will not say what that reason is right now, so as not to taint the results. I will give my reason in 2-3 days. I will say that the reason is not to start another "you are not a real fan," or "you are not as smart as me" kind of fight.

So please, for the love of the almighty, no throwing around blunt or even thinly veiled insults toward other members or even members of the Kings organization.

added for clarification:

stuck, going nowhere fast, or not making progress would not be considered going in the right direction.

I believe they are headed in the right direction.

We have some awesome young talent in Beno/Garcia/Martin/Salmons/Hawes. We have a vet in Brad Miller who is putting up excellent numbers, and can only help this team (I think we should keep Miller for his entire contract). We have a guy in Moore who (once we find a starting PF) can be an energy guy off the bench.

Anyone notice that Garcia hasn't had many of those charging calls like he used to get every game? He got one last night and I thought to myself that it was the first time seein that from Garcia in a long time.

I sincerely believe this team is going in the right diretion. It is obvious they are going in the right direction by simply looking at their coach, Reggie Theus. He has inspired his team to play to their full potential, and I believe the whole team is better because of it. We have great young talent that in the next fewyears will continue to develop into talented basketball players. We have an awesome Kings veteran-Brad Miller that has helped his team grow. I believe this team will continue to impress us more and more with every year.

I voted "agree" with the following clarifications/conditions:

I think we have a coach that is getting the team to play hard every night (with only a handful of exceptions so far, including last night). I think the youngsters have started to develop, and we liked what we saw (competitiveness and fire and some developing skills). I think that some trades really need to happen, but I'd consider this to be small steps in the right direction (instead of giant strides). From a managerial standpoint we are sitting still, from a team standpoint we are moving forward.

I started to work up a snarky analogy comparing the team's direction to a person stuck in quicksand, but abandoned the whole thing when forced to acknowledge that most people stuck in quicksand at least make some effort to get out.

but no, struggling against quicksand is exactly how you get stuck deeper. so to survive, you must not move. your analogy is brilliant!

She didn't say "struggling," she said "making an effort to get out," which usually involves use of a stick, rope, or something similar. Perhaps the front office mistook Mikki for a stick.

All you no-direction folks realize that you're supposed to vote "I disagree" if there is no direction, right? :)

or leave it blank.
I guess, but only if you didn't want to participate in the poll. The point is that the original post was edited and there is an answer in the poll if that's your opinion and you want to vote.

I'd participate if there were a viable answer, but we have no direction so I cannot vote that I like or dont like nothing.

My point was that kupman explicitly stated that if you think the team has no direction then you should vote "disagree". It was added as an edit later. I figured you might have missed it so I was pointing it out again.

I voted no because I have seen no direction. Im tempted to bump the thread from 9 monthes ago asking when we were gonna start rebuilding shortly after GP said we would rebuild because we still haven't started. Hell our two last first rounders can't even get any playing time.

I for one will be exceedingly dissapointed if the deadline passes without a single move by the kings.

The Kings have a direction. They are an upside down turtle trying to right itself.

To me, the hiring of Coach Theus represents a direction, and the benching of Kenny Thomas represents a direction. Right directions.

Right direction:

Much improved coach
Young players getting some serious experience in the NBA...on the court
They are fun to watch again

Wrong direction:

Needed trades are yet to happen

The direction I sense from the team is that they're becoming more interesting to watch. In the long view, overall talent level also seems to be rising, even though it is concentrated in the SG and SF positions. Most of our starters have some trade value now.

If you limit the timeframe you're observing to this season, well...

If you're at the South pole, every direction is north.
If you were where we were at the beginning of the season, every direction is an improvement.

No real direction. So I guess I would disagree. That's not to say there aren't more than a few options at this point. A few of those may be exhausted if we sit any longer however.

Unless you are getting a sure fire LOTTERY pick stud, it takes a few years for draft pickes to pan out. KM just last year started to show he is a very good NBA player. So that draft pick was good.

Francisco got screwed IMO last year as he should have played much more than he did, and last year was a waste for him. This year he is showing he is going to be a quality player. So again, good pick.

Beno.... GREAT pickup...

So IMO since you have younger players making an impact on games, that means RIGHT direction.

Everyone keeps saying trades need to be made... well please speak up and tell me who gets traded for whom?

Trade artest and bibby for crap and get expiring contracts?

Lets just say we had 20 million under next years cap, go out and tell me who are we going to get with that money(after losing artest and bibby) that will put us in a MAJOR improved situation.

You dont get studs like KG and Duncan in free agency, so who are we gona get with that 20 mill under the cap?

Are they better than they were last year at this point? Heck yes.

Coach is also better IMo.

they are in the right direction IMO.

reid1boys - We have an entire forum devoted to trade discussions, etc. so please let's not turn this thread into another one.
