Kings Fan’s TV Show Draft! - Round 20

yes, i wonder who it will be to snatch "bill nye, the science guy" from you! :p
Love Bill Nye...definitely. But most of my television choices are, well, pretty ordinary.

But if someone does try to steal Bill Nye, I'll just have to call on the Sicilian in-laws...

So the TV Show Draft has officially begun! Tradepeja is on the clock.

He already tipped his hand a couple weeks ago, but lets see if there's any surprises :).

HI EVERYBODY, I'M DR., uh....well, I'm tradepeja.

I'm about to pick the Best. Show. Ever.

The Simpsons (1989- )

Set to become the longest running sitcom in television history by 2010, cartoon or not The Simpsons is one of the most prolific television series ever. The first six seasons are pure gold. We can all sit here and argue about the recent seasons, but without the first few years of this show, television today (and US pop culture for that matter) is completely different.

Personally, I feel that the last 2 seasons of The Simpsons since the movie in 2007 have really brought back a lot of the old whimsy of the show. Though, the new 720p HD format of the most recent of the recent episodes might be a little too crisp for me sometimes.

I wonder though, with this show continuing indefinitely while I reside on my island, will I get new episodes sent directly to my island TiVo?

If not, then....then ANNOYED GRUNT.

for my first pick, i select:

Saturday Night Live

in addition to the comedic value, i went with this selection because of the show's ties to the celebrity du jour, thereby ensuring that i will at least have some connection to the current times on my desert island.

To add to the comedy theme we have going right now, Im going to take The Office

Some may say its a tad early for this one ( doesnt have the longevity of the first 3 selections ) , but its my show. I could and do watch older episodes of The Office over and over and still find them hilarious. I generally dont watch older TV shows, so Im throwing anything over 15 or so years old out the window and The Office is hands down my favorite show on TV right now.

Gotta Love This Clip

So far, so good. Three shows I would never have considered and one that I knew wouldn't last and that I wouldn't have taken anyway.

Yes, you still get to see the new episodes, both live, and on demand. You also get all of the hundreds of episodes before that. Great picks so far everyone :).

Oopsie. I was at work.... :D

Wow! So far, all picks are really strong so far.... (and on my list)
For my First Pick yada yada yada...

SEINFELD (1989 to 1998)

I figure since I am all alone on an island, laughter is a must. This is one of my all time favorites!

We have a winner! :D

But seriously, congrats. You can forfeit the rest of your picks if you want and you'll still have my vote over everyone else.

Best. Show. Ever.....Not that there's anything wrong with that

The Tonight Show (1954-Present)
FYI... this is one of the reasons I suggested the rule clarification. IMDB has separate pages for the separate hosts. I picked the Johnny Carson version in the draft I did, which is one of the main examples that made me bring up the rule clarification earlier in the thread.

If you're going to follow the updated rule #5, you'll probably have to pick a host.

I agree.

I'd suggest that people actually go to www.imdb.com/tv and get a link for the series they're picking. That will avoid any kind of confusion.

Hmmm... this is one of the drafts where I actually wish I was picking later in the first round so that I could get a feel for everyone's tastes, as I've got a ton of shows on my list that I could see going in the first round. This made deciding on a first pick difficult for me, but since I know the favorite show of at least one person who will be picking after me (sorry, VF) I figured the next show as a now or never pick.

Dexter - Showtime (2006-Present) -- I just love everything about this show. Especially the first and third seasons.
