Mock draft 2026

Not sure about Flemings. Solid player but it seems more like he's a Mike Conley level player rather than a franchise changer.

He's going to be a good player, heck could be one of the best, but out of all the top PG's he's the least productive per 36 and simply doesn't draw contact. One of the easiest to decipher commonalities between franchise players is the ability to get to the line. In the game against BYU we can see how sending a hard show or double can stop him dead in his tracks when it comes to him turning the corner and getting himself into his mid range sweet spot.

I've been thinking of who he reminds me of frame wise and it's Kevin Martin. He's got that same slight type of frame that doesn't lend itself to adding much if any more size to it. Kevin Martin utilized drawing contact to get into that 20-25 point range but it wasn't long before injuries started to pile up. If Flemings comes into the league and attempts to draw that kind of contact can he hold up? That's the question. There are Rose comparisons, and some are valid, but Rose had a totally different frame and that said, once he started to look to get to the line more same thing, he started to breakdown physically.

Ya I’m taking Wagler over him 6’6 elite shooter might not be the best athlete but gets FT’s and more importantly is lights out shooting off the dribble threes. At his size you it’s also easier to build around you can play him at either guard so if we have to do bpa next year and it’s a 6’3 pg no problem shift Wagler to SG

I’m warming up to Boozer if AJ is off the board and we pick in that 3-5 range. Im generally cautious of Duke players but he sounds smart enough to excel.
If in the 6-8 range I also like Wagler, the height is nice but sure hope he translates into our future main facilitator because Nique, same height likely won’t. Still an intriguing backcourt pairing, though would be looking at another logjam but that might be an issue at all positions.

Nique/Wagler isn’t a logjam Nique can play 1-3 and Wagler can play both guard spots

That’s not what I meant to imply. Even though I see Nique as primarily a SG, the logjam is that we will be creating another situation of guard excess bringing in Wagler. But that’s with the current roster which will likely change between now and the start of next season, who knows what players will be moved.
Im actually intrigued by a Nique, Wagler backcourt. Would just hope Wagler shows more chops as the lead facilitator.

Lately I’ve been scouting the “worst case scenario” draft position according to where our record is and it hasn’t been that bad.

In this case we are 2nd worst (only behind Indiana) which leads us to getting the #6 pick and I’ve been scouting the players around that area

Wagler, Acuff, Brown, Ament, Philon. Looks like we are still getting a good player regardless where we land (potentially an all star). To me those players have a chance to be at Fox’s level if not better. That’s a win in my book 👍🏽

Yeah, it's basically impossible for us to leave this draft without getting a great prospect. Its just those top 3 (maybe Wilson too) are franchise altering superstar potential types

There's still a ways to go but when it comes to 1st option potential, Acuff certainly seems to be above the rest in terms of potential to be the head of the snake when it comes to the guards.

Offensively he's the head of the snake but defensively he is the ass of the snake. He needs to be Jalen Brunson offensively at the next level. It's not out of the realm of possibility.

Stay away from Ament
boozers 3 point stats are borderline elite
The most predictive statistic for NBA 3 point shooting is FT%. Ament is only behind Boozer in projected 3 point percentage. But regardless is we are 6 or 7….. AJ, Boozer, Wilson are all long gone before that point. Ament could well be our best option

If we fall to 4 that is going to impact both our first and second overall picks. But hopefully Braden Smith is available.

As said, that player isn't a usual specimen. When a team is where the Kings are at they need someone that can be great at what they are. And yes, offense >>> defense all day if they aren't a two way player because no team can build around a defense only player. The Kings need someone that can produce and all the top 4 in this draft look like they will be able to even if in different ways. The top 3 standout above all from the looks of it however and Boozer in some way stands above the rest. If the Kings go for talent and don't screw it up like usual, they might in a worst case have a highlight piece to a package to get said player. The Kings routinely do what they're doing now. Sign retreads and put them over pieces that at least have a chance to become some sort of valuable asset. Then they wonder why they are continuously on the outside looking in when it comes to roster improvement.
I have no idea what signing retreads and talent evaluation for the draft have in common. And Boozer doesn't stand above the rest in my view.

Despite fouling out late Koa Peat may have had his best game since the beginning of the season today. I hope Koa continues like he did today, didn't get his first foul until the second half so the foul trouble at the end a tad frustrating but it happened during that crazy Houston run. Big 12 is legit.

I liked what I saw from Flemings, honestly if we don't pick top 3 he might be my guy.

Krivas stock also up I was hoping me might be a 4 year guy but he gone after this week. If we got a late first I wonder if Domas would take him under his wing as a fellow Lithuanian?

Outside of Sean Elliot's teams and the Bibby-Simon championship squad this is my favorite Willdcat team ever and they legitimately could overtake those teams.

It shows a general lack of IQ, what else? NBA teams and talent evaluation are all based on comparison. When the Kings get legit talent they often make incorrect determinations on what they are (see Fox not getting that PG spot to himself for a few years, Bagley is the next Giannis, etc.) or sign players to get in their way because they want to win and not develop in a patient manner. Boozer would actually probably be a decent compromise for this franchise considering he should be able to go from day 1.

Unfortunately this guard crop isn't looking like one with a lot of future DPOY candidates, haha. Talent is talent and talent can be spun off later in a worst case.
