If I'm on once in the morning and once at night both around 8am/pm. does that make me not a nuisance should I want to join?

I'm down for this.

BTW: for those who don't have On Demand, it's this awesome comcast feature that allows you to go into a huge menu and watch pretty much whatever you want whenever you want. Most cases it has all the new episodes on there too. One of the greatest inventions ever, especially if you have a 2 year old and need the T.V. to babysit for a minute!
Blah, blah, blah... Yeah, that's all just peachy keen. What if there isn't a freaking cable within 40 miles of your house????

:p

As far as your serious question goes, I don't think you only being on twice a day would be a problem at all. The problem comes when people aren't on the board for a couple of days and don't bother to check whether or not they're likely to come up while they're gone. I'd say join in the fun. Always good to have new blood in these things.

:)

Just an FYI... you might want to make some clarifying decisions before you start drafting about what is and isn't allowed. Unlike movies, TV shows can get confusing. I ran a TV Show draft on another site and there were a few questions that had to be resolved.

For example, is a one time event a "show" or does it have to have episodes? When a show gets a new format, is it still tied to the original version or is it a separate show? Do you consider Monday Night Football a show? What about the Super Bowl, is that one show with 43 episodes or 43 shows? (By the way, I only use these examples because they are ineligible in your draft, otherwise I wouldn't be giving the hint.)

I think I ended up using IMDB to determine whether something was a show or not. If it has a unique IMDB page, it was a unique show in our draft.

Just thought I'd mention it based on my experience.

Thanks for the info uolj :). I would think that a show can be a one time event too, like a concert telethon, or even a made for TV miniseries. The fewer regulations the better for this crowd. Anything available as normal progamming (Cable/Broadcast/Satellite) is game as long as it follows the rules of the board (Game Shows with multiple hosts, but the same name for instance, or sitcoms with rotating casts, etc.). The one exception here is movies which were made for theatrical release and are being shown on TV too (these are ineligible, you cannot take StarZ Movies as a TV show...). Same with concerts that were not shown as a live TV show (Made for MTV/VH1 etc. would be eligible though :)).

I am a bit concerned about political leaning shows and am wondering where VF21 will draw the line, but for the moment they should be eligible unless a Mod over rules the selection (FoxNews/MSNBC shows immediately come to mind here).

As for the redux shows, I consider them separate entities and eligible to be drafted seperately if they have different casts and/or production crews. While all sporting events are available on demand, pre and postgame programs would still be eligible as they are their own unique shows. I will only allow specific show picks though, so drafting just "All Pre Game Shows" would be an ineligible selection (Just one unique show at a time, no genres).

I think uolj has the right idea and the suggestion of using IMDB as the final arbiter is an excellent choice. As far as political shows goes, the listing of them is not against the board rules. The discussion of them, however, would be.

I've added this rule, updating rule#5. Thanks uolj :).

You're welcome.

I don't know who decides what gets its own page on IMDB, especially for some of the more obscure titles, but hey, it works pretty well so I let that go. :)

I think the main thing is that it's at least an impartial list that people can consult ahead of time to determine eligibility of their pick, reducing any possibility of challenge. If it's not on IMDB, whether you think it should be or not is immaterial.

IIRC, allmusic.com was used a couple of times in last year's music drafts.

Does anyone else think 20 rounds is a tad excessive? I'm not sure if I even know 20 good shows, let alone accounting for the fact that most of them won't even be available for me to pick

Maybe I'm just more of a TV addict than everyone else, but I really don't see how it could be that difficult to come up with twenty series. I'll have a hard time narrowing it down.

I guess, when I think about it, it might not be that hard to come up with 20 shows that I really enjoy. But I'd be willing to bet my full list would only have about 40 on it max, which just isn't enough.
