Kings close to signing Mozgov?

How would you react if I told you that we drafted in our draft position, made no moves, and took as our lottery pick an athletic Kansas kid who didn't fill a need and started sliding in the draft before really struggling in his first summer league game, that we made a couple of minor and irrelevant free agency signings, and that we made a minor trade swapping some 2nd round picks for a minor platoon type SF/PF defensive specialist from the Eastern Conference who we hope might take some of Salmons minutes.

Oh right, THAT WAS EXACTLY THE DESCRIPTION OF LAST OFFSEASON.

Now throw in the owners being too cheap to retain Reke, and the reaquisition of an old failure of ours in Carl Landry, and you would swear, SWEAR to me that Geoff Petrie and the Maloofs had never left. And if such a revelation didn't make you grumpy, there's something the matter with you.

Meh. this team will be in full rebuild, McLemore will be fine, Vasquez is a nice addition that fits better than Tyreke. McCallum looks promising, we have a good coach. Anyone who expected a new regime to come in and keep our lousy 28 win team together is just a delusional nut, it wasn't working and if Cousins continues to be a cancer, he is on his way out too. I think this team will be fun to watch, they will play hard, and if Cousins turns it around we will win 30-35 games.

Well if they tendered the Qualifying offer Mosgov could just accept it, Yes if we made an offer Denver could match, but if Kings offer not made/accepted by moscov there could still be a sign trade

I saw where Denver has intr in Nate Robinson so if Kings offer made, maybe Den does not plan to match so they would have money for a Nate offer?

Maybe they would want IT and filler (Jimmer or Outlaw) in a sign n trade instead of Nate?

pretty sure Mozgov is looking for a multi-year deal and thus isn't going to accept the QO and they clearly have more need for another centre than they have for a guy like Robinson. they still have Lawson/Miller to run the point.

I post on another board (not an NBA board) with friends that are huge fans of the NBA and pretty much everyone of them was laughing that the Kings were considering matching on Reke. So WE are in the minority.

People continue to make arguments like that, as if I care.

Tyreke Evans has played 8.962 minutes in the NBA. Do you know how many of those minutes I have watched? 8,962. Not just watched mind you. Watched carefully enough to take notes on for post game judgments. The idea that I would be concerned by the opinion of somebody who watches a handful of Kings games a year and catches some buzz/rumors from some media type who watches a handful of Kings games a year is just bizarre.

If they want to disagree with me on my assessment of Tobias Harris that is fine, they may well have seen him more than I have.

the bolded remains to be seen, as grievis vasquez is just another weak link in an already-strained chain of non-defensive personnel on this roster. we also don't know if mike malone is a "good coach" or not. we know he's a good assistant that helped turn the warriors' defense around, but the big job is a different story. malone is actually the one acquisition i can say that i'm genuinely excited about, but a rookie head coach is still hardly a sure thing...

I swear you're the reason my blood pressure hasn't killed me. Just as it's about to go through the roof, you provide such sweet relief... :p

PDA's moves have sent me on an excessive drinking binge. I might not make it to training camp guys.. if i dont, I love you all.

Dude you are the biggest cry babby here.

I wouldn't overpay for a player who stops ball movement.

Take a few days off and get to your happy spot.

Thinking that this kind of comment will help anything is delusional. What's a "babby?" Is it a bigger "baby?"

I really don't think Mozgov will leave - they like him in Denver. McGee, on the other hand...

I think it's related to Bibby, somehow, which doesn't make sense, since Brick is a little taller.

I am just sick of seeing a grown man acting like an infant on this forum. There is nothing any of can do to change what has happened.

I think I asked this of you yesterday by why are you on a sports fan site unless its to discuss the pros and cons of a team we love? Obviously we don't make the decisions. But we care enough about them to spend our time discussing it, sometimes positively, sometimes not so much. It's part of the mental illness that comes with being a fan.

For all those that only want to discuss happy things about the kings, maybe just skip over the stuff you don't like or start a topic where only good news and opinions can be shared?

Have you ever considered that may in fact be your problem? You are too "attached" and value him too much as a fan. Sometimes it takes an "outside perspective" to truly evaluate an NBA talent and see him for what he truly is.

I can guarantee you that no current GM in the league has watched Tyreke Evans play for 8,962 minutes and sure enough none of them seem to value him as highly as you do.

Now perhaps all of the GM's around the league are wrong (and lazy slackers who need to get up on their film review) or maybe just maybe Tyreke isn't as good as you think he is. Time will tell.

So when you complain about others crying, what does that make you. Plus, its been proven over and over and over that what you claim about Reke is simply not true anymore. There were more ball stoppers on this team than him.

Mozgov is a great boost

This is not fair.

Also, to state that all GMs have a certain attitude when it only takes one from the Pelicans is an exaggeration. Maybe all the GMs set Evans' value at the same as the Pelicans but we don't know that. We have to stop and I know for a fact it won't stop if brick keeps it going. I agree with him but I am very, very tired and when it gets into an analysis of a guy who has contributed as much or more bonafied unbiased facts to this forum is just going too far.

stop reading his posts then, its not hard...

alot of us actually want to see the kings win a 'ship before we die. we've put in decades of being loyal to this team, most of those years being losing years. Yet we're still here, as fans. Of course we're going to be upset when possible bad moves are being made. It just shows how much we really care about this damn team.

I watched Mozgov play with Russia. He's like the first player who caught my eye because he was huge and very athletic, but he doesn't impress me when it comes to defensive BBIQ like Jeff Withey...

I've been watching Withey in summer league right now, and he's destroying everybody at the rim. He has four blocks against the Cavs, is altering tons of shot, moving his feet extremely well all over the court, and always standing in the right spot it seems. A little soft on the glass and almost a non factor on offense, but I don't care about that. It's really a treat to watch him protect the rim.

This and another thread I've been reading thi afternoon - I keep going back to the beginning of the page to remind myself of what topic we're on.

No matter what the topic, all I've learned is that the Kings should not draft a player from U. Of Kansas and we would never sign another player that's played for Denver or Golden State. Life is tough.

Meh on Mozgov. He IS a big body to clog the middle but I too preferred Aldrich.

When it comes to Aldrich vs Mozgov ill take Aldrich all day everyday and twice on the 3rd Thursday of the month! Aldrich does essentially the same thing that Mozgov does but at a much cheaper price, and we already have him.

Unfortunately it is not appearing that the new front office has adjusted its thinking about who is a "we" and who is a "them" yet.

so is mosgov gonna take JT's min from the back up C. and what about chuck? where does he fit in here.

Your definition of cheap is their definition of someone they didn't want at the inflated price. Want to pay full sticker on a car that you are on the fence about? Would you consider yourself cheap if you didn't want to pay full sticker on a car that you weren't really "gaga" over?
