I think I'm going to go with my mom to the game on the 12th vs the TWolves since it's on a saturday even though I live 2 hours away. I mean dang, I've wanted to get to a game all year and they're playing pretty good so why not?

lol calm down bro, it makes me mad too, and I'm guilty of not having gone this year(my excuse=living 2 hours away), but I think we're about 1 month and a half from getting good attendance numbers. This is a bad recession, but that december game vs LA is sold out supposedly, and we're going to have better draws coming in to arco too(the one vs lebron is on my birthday, kind of want to go to that one), and after christmas people will have more money, or maybe people will want kings tix for presents since they're playing better, or maybe they'll get money as a present, etc. But this team is playing better, and at the same time you're going to need more than a nice start vs some bad teams to convince everyone we're back. I think it'll happen, but probably some time in January. In the spring hopefully I can make it to more games, and hopefully the twolves one coming up soon. But I think people are still having reservations about this team.

If the financial situation is the key component in that (which by all accounts it is) then the writing is already in the wall. Then Rockmeister is right about one thing. I am stupid for even trying because sitting there tonight in a half empty arco bothered me. I thought to myself I'm going to try and rally kings fans to show up. However you can't really up money that people dont have.

That's not a bad idea. What got turned around was the idea that people aren't going because they don't care. The people here, for the most part, are loyal Kings fans who do their part. It's just that they may not be able to do much right now...

I'm glad sitting in an empty arena bothered you for the simple reason it shows you care about the Kings. Keep the faith and keep the passion. And, as I said before, maybe next time you go you can take a friend with you. If people did that, Arco would really rock...

Ive been saying this for a while now, and they were talking about it on the Riseguys this morning.... they need to lower ticket prices.

Are there 10 dollar tickets, sure there are, but in all honesty, those seats SUCK.

I might want to be in those seats for a sold out playoff game, but damn if I am going to drive 90 minutes to watch the Kings play the heat, pay for TERRIBLE seats that are 10 bucks and not even be able to hear the ball hit the court, when I can sit in my house and see the game way better for nothing.


I want to get out to Arco, the team is fun to watch, but when the place is half empty, they better lower the ticket prices for some better seats.

And I am a pretty big fan. i rarely miss a game, I am on this board daily. How many fans are out there that are like us? not the avg Joe, so if it aint worth it to me, no way the avg Joe is going to pay those prices to watch.

Prices are ALL RELEVANT to how much money we make, so to put things in perspective, my wife and i bring down about 150k a year. Not rich, but not in the poor house either.

Just aint worth it to me to make that drive for some of those seats.

I highly disagree with your statement. I am very much into the Kings as are others, but many aren't "as" in to them as they were when the Kings were winning 50+ a year. Those are the more casual fans.

I make a fair amount of money, but my priorities are elsewhere at the moment. I bought a house last year, and even though it was brand new I'm still buying things for it, modifying existing fixtures to suit my taste etc. Not to mention Christmas time is here, and that means gifts.

Sacramento is very much a government town. A lot of government jobs have been cut, and or furloughed for one day, sometimes two days a week.

Just yesterday the brother of a friend of mine, who I once managed and left for a job at The Los Rios Community College District. because it was a bump in pay and he would be a supervisor, just had his job cut. The economy is turning, and it's sloooooowly getting better, but at the bottom cuts are still happening, and we won't feel the up swing down here for some time.

So, to just make a blanket statement that, because attendance is down, we just aren't into the team is highly inaccurate in my opinion.

Are some of the ticket prices high? Sure. can you buy 40 dollar tickets that are halfway decent seats...sure. Now, I agree. I feel like if I'm going to go to a game I want lower bowl somewhere within the first 10-15 rows. That's an ideal situation. We can't always have ideal. I would be ok with a seat towards the front of the upper deck. How much are those off the top off your head? Those aren't more than 60-70 I believe. Would that be suitable? I think it would.

If you can't spend that on a game, then hey, you're right, watch it in your living room. I won't hold it against you, and neither will anyone else. We all have our priorities.

Go check the Warriors ticket prices. They are very similar. Now if you want to talk about a rip-off, paying those prices for the Warriors is a TRAVESTY!

How about the holiday packages. The Tyreke packate you get to see the LAKERS, and the MAGIC. 2 quality teams. 80 for the upper level, 149 for the lower. The Omri package you get to see the Cavs and the Nugests. Again, two quality teams same prices. That's a hell of a deal.

So, if you really want to see the team with the money you and your wife are making I'm sure you can afford a couple nights at the games unless you have a 3 teenagers, then maybe not haha.

Edit: If you wanna save money on parking, my dad (who lives in the area) has said that people park in that Raley's / Kohls parking center across the corner from the arena and walk there all the time. It's much better lit, patrolled by security, and you can get some big spoon yogurt afterwards

Nice! It's not like it was even 8 years ago, all of the businesses with large parking lots around the arena have made it a little less of a hit in the wallet. I know I would rather spend that 10 bucks on concessions than the right to park in that dark, crowded accident magnet of a parking lot.

Not that this should matter, and not that I myself don't frequently find alternative parking accomodations rather than get ripped off by event parking prices, but I distinctly recall how terribly importnat parking spaes/parking money ws to the Maloofs in all the arena negotiations. Apparently a major source of income for them, and I guess it would add up. Back in the glory days $10/car x 5000 cars a game = $50,000 x 40 games = $2,000,000.

This may be the worst recession since the Great Depression, but it doesn't come anywhere close to to how bad the Great Depression was. That reached 25% unemployment and over half of all Americans were living below the minimum subsidence income level. Just want to clarify that, so we don't feel too sorry for ourselves.

I've already explained the reasons I think Sacramento is suffering through a worse economic situation than most other NBA markets.

On the other hand, we can't really blame it all on the economy. The economy is bad every where and yet other teams, including those with higher ticket prices or worse teams, are drawing crowds bigger than Sacramento. To some degree, I feel like the Sacramento market really doesn't care like it once did. Remember they had one of the top sell-out streaks in NBA history when we really sucked for years.

If Sacramento doesn't show signs of interest pretty soon, then the team won't be leaving us. You can't leave someone that's already left you.

There's nothing illegal about what you're suggesting, so no wiping necessary. We don't work for the Maloofs, and its done all the time. Just thought I would mention it since it did seem to fly at lest somewhat in the face of the general goal of getting the crowds and money back into Arco to keep the Maloofs interested.

...I am also a poor college student living off of financial aide working an internship that pays me minimum wage with an 8 month old son while the tickets still are $45 bucks a pop plus $10 dollars for parking. So excuses to me fall on deaf ears.

I wonder how all these "broke" people are paying bills. It's one thing to say you are broke, but $55 dollars to me is the difference between paying my phone bill or paying my phone bill and buying my kid a replacement winter jacket (it's cold where we live).

I look at the posts about discount group tickets and I feel like Bob Cratchet dreaming of a Christmas turkey. I don't need need someone telling me I'm lazy or cheap. Walk a mile in my shoes, or the thousands of people struggling like me before you get righteous about going to a Kings game!

Well I actually have 2 teens with the older in College, and 2 little ones age 7 and 9.

You are right, i can AFFORD to go to the game. it wouldnt hurt my budget one bit, but I still must feel it is worth it. And sitting up in the upper bowl just sucks for me, so most of the "Great Package Deals," are crap IMO. Id prefer to stay home.

Now if they had some decent deals for the lower bowl, id be more inclined, but remember "Decent," is totally subjective.

In any event, id like to see Arco fill up again. I will be coming to a couple of games, and maybe more if theyd make it more attractice to me. Obviously they arent making it attractive to the masses right now. Hopefully as the team continues to improve, more people will come out.

I love watching Kings games but... Arco sucks. I hate going there. Last year I went to 1 game at Oracle Arena and 1 at the Rose Garden and WOW. Compared to those arenas Arco is a GARBAGE DUMP.

Also, I hate paying so much for tickets. $30-$50 isnt so bad, but those seats are so far from the court, its much more enjoyable to watch the game on a large HD TV.

Arco is a dump. It's why I do this........when I hear locals asking what's wrong with Arco. I want to ask if they've ever been to any other arena in the country. Then it would be a no-brainer. There are plenty of events at Arco and other venues around town where ticket prices are more than going to a Kings game.

Well, I just did my part. My brother, sister-in-law, son and daughter-in-law are all going to the Kings-Lakers game with me on Dec 26th. Its a chunk of their Christmas gifts (and mine to myself) and they all said they'd love to go. BTW, I waited to late and they appear to be sold out for that game, anyway. I had to resort to searching StubHub and EBay to get 5 tickets all together.

I think everyone has valid points. Obviously, the economy is effecting some more than others. IMO, the economy is an excuse for some, and not others. I understand times are tough and going to a kings game just isn't an option right now for some people.

But, I will not come up with excuses for last night being the lowest recorded attendance in sac-era history. Thats inexcusible. Thats pathetic. Sure the economy is bad, and I think ticket prices should be lowered, but thats not an excuse for barely over 10k fans showing up last night.

I get the impression there are plenty of fans in sac that can afford to go the games. And they will once this team is a playoff caliber team. But, as opposed to the 80's, the new "fair weather" type fans from the 98-03 kings are just waiting for the kings to make it to the top again, and have no interest in the process of getting to the top.

Maybe the succes earlier this decade actually hurt the fanbase, and now fans are spoiled. Maybe sac-area fans aren't as intelligent asketball-wise as some of us thought, and can't appreciate growth, and the journey back to the playoffs. Maybe Sacramento, just can't afford to support and nba team. I don't know. But the kings are the ONLY show in town and they still just set a record for lowest attendance in sac-era. The kings aren't competing with another NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL team. They are the only team, which makes it so much more puzzling to me.

I think a portion of the attendance is due to the economy. Really, no matter what the economy is doing, there will always be people who cannot afford going to an NBA game. And with the current economic situation there are bound to be people who just cannot afford it. But the 7,000 empty seats are not a direct correlation to 7,000 people who would be in those seats if the economy were better.

Sacramento has just changed with respect to the culture and attitude towards the Kings. Even on this board, there are many who think the idea of making the playoffs only to lose in the early rounds would be a complete failure. How quickly people forget the excitement of the Warriors and Hawks as the #8 seeds. Oh, I'm sorry, they "hurt their development by getting low draft picks".

I used to think that once the team started showing they hustled and strung together some wins, the attendance would follow. Now I'm convinced that it will take some MAJOR wins. I'm talking wins against the likes of the Lakers, Celtics, Suns, Cavs. The problem is, those might not happen much this year. A large chunk of fans have just become fickle, and will show up again in the playoffs. Only then will you truly see the regular season attendance return. Remember the Hawks 2 years ago? Didn't they average 9,000 fans for the regular season, then sellout for an amazingly exciting playoff series? Maybe if they had a packed house all season, they'd have started playing like that earlier.

This may be another reason attendance is down. People don't want to invest in a team they think is leaving town. I don't know about REAL Kings fans, but most casual fans I talk to are under the impression a new arena is not going to happen, therefore the Kings will be leaving town.

Completely off target here. But I was wondering if anyone knows what webbs contract situation was like when we traded for him: amount, years left, etc... What I'm trying to get at is this: we know he was disgruntled in DC but is that what made it easier to get him or was his contract situation reasonable as well? I'm trying to think of players we can get who are in similar disgruntled situations and the only one worthy of talking about is bosh. I just wish he had a good 2-3 years left and I swear Petrie would do anything to get him but I think he's unsure if bosh will leave us or not

I've gone to a couple games this year. I'd go to more if they stop charging that ridiculous $10 parking! I'm already paying for the game ticket itself and then I have to pay for parking too? and a lot of these games I go by myself, and $10 for one person is hefty.
