from woj's article it seems like the mt trade scenario is pretty far along. that would be my guess. also threw in a kings discussing of trading jimmer to other teams so with so many rumors something has to get done.
Honestly I'm just hoping to see IT moved, because that probably has the most long-term implications than anything. Jimmer probably isn't going to bring back much, nor am I vastly excited to get Jason Terry for Marcus Thornton. Regardless of what IT nets us however, if he's traded it shows that he isn't going to be in our long term plans and so creates an anticipation for what is to come in the offseason (if we don't already get our starting PG in the deal).

Such a risk that. IT is a talented player. You miss on the pick you just bled away yet more talent.
Also might be a missed opportunity as the other thing IT can do at his number is help to sheperd a bad contract out of town.

Another thing I was thinking about with trading IT if that is the direction management goes, it could conceivably help the push for a higher pick. We don't know how much time Cuz will miss and if you throw a random scrub at pg with this current team you really might make a push for 2nd or 3rd worst record. Although if your a detractor of IT you might think we win more

Heard Reynolds on this subject today. Sounded pretty realistic about what's involved for IT or any of the others. If we have Terry Jerry will praise him, that' his job.
That team is potentially worse that we are now without any real salary cap benefit.

The point is to break up the contracts into smaller pieces so they are easier to move. We tried that with Webber and it backfired horribly, but then again we were too cheap to trade an expiring Kenny Thomas, after waiting years and years for it to becoming a trade chip, when we should have.

The only thing we know is #15 is going to be here for 4 years. And on a last-place team, that's how it should be.
I also love how fickle fans think the players all. This was mentioned with all the Boogie contract stuff to. About how he'd be "offended" and "want revenge" etc. Sheesh. IT is a smart guy. He knows the Kings aren't a powerhouse organization like the Spurs and that Cousins is the franchise player and that everyone is expendable until we field a roster we like around him.

Evans has no value either way. I suppose next year Jet could have more value at 5 than Mt at 8 but its debatable. At least MT is young enough to still recover his mojo.

Completely seperate from my dislike for Isaiah Thomas running this team, i really hope they move him by thursday. For this reason; we saw what happened with Tyreke and the Pelicans, we all know there is a team out there that's going to throw a bigger contract at Isaiah than he is worth, so we will either get stuck overpaying for him, or we will let him walk for nothing in return. On top of that, his trade value is at an all time high right now (especially if other GM's look at Box Scores more than game tape). It's seems as though Isaiah would not be the type of guy to take a fair offer to stay with this team, and also to be a 6th man, when another team is out there offering him a few more million per year......

The thing is, it is highly unlikely any team will throw a big contract at IT. It's basic economics, for a team to willing to offer the money, that team is 1) has cap room and 2) need a starting PG. Only two teams fall under that scenario, the Lakers and the Raptors. It makes zero sense for the Lakers to sign IT to a big contract even if you believe Steve Nash's career is done. As for the Raptors, I don't see why they'd want IT, their #1 priority is likely to re-sign Lowdry anyway. The dark horse is the Celtics, who may need a PG if they trade Rondo; but if the Celtics is in rebuilt why'd they offer IT a fat contract?

You're forgetting a team that might have the most interest in Thomas. The Magic. It looks like they will not be picking up Nelson's team option this summer. That leaves them with no starting PG and $30+ mil in cap space to go after whoever they want.
I'm not saying that I think Thomas is a starting caliber PG, but if you're going to start him, you're going to need a good defender at SG who can switch off and take the opposing team's PG from time to time. Oladipo fits that bill quite nicely.

Yikes! You would pay him $8 mil a year to be a sixth man? That's not good business to be paying your bench players starting money. I think the most I could muster up for Thomas is $6.5 mil a year to keep him on this team as a sixth man and be somewhat satisfied. I would be open to the idea of matching an offer sheet that is worth more than $6.5 mil, but doing so would force me to no longer see him as a player for the Kings, but as a movable asset that can bring me back value in a future trade.

This team has some max money players on it now, you can't afford to have 8 million a year bench players. Just won't work unless you already have all the pieces in place that complete your team in other areas. This team clearly is far from complete. No defensive personnel in the front court or on the wing. This is when having players like Landry and Thompson crush you. Neither one brings needed skills and they are already at the top rung of what you would want to pay a bench player.

I am hoping that by the end of trade deadline we have Rondo as the PG
Rondo-Gay-Cousins would be some very good building blocks for this team and if keep McLemore which I suspect we will, then if he was ever going to make it in the NBA it would be with Rondo setting him up.

Arr yes, the Magic. I think that depends on how serious they are with converting Oladipo to a PG. They also have two lottery picks, I don't see how they don't come away with a PG from the draft. They are also in rebuilding mode, and teams in that stage usually don't throw big money at starting role players. Plus, if they are to make a big splash at PG, the guy they most definitely will target is Kyle Lowdry, not IT.
The most likely scenario for the Magic is that they use the lottery picks on a PG and a big man; and continue to develop the youngster next season and then make a FA splash in 2015.

I think Jerry's praise of IT is overboard in comparison with the other players on the roster. Maybe that's his job. I don't know. Jerry would have to come up with a clever nickname for Terry. It will be hard to top the "hustling huskie"
