Jrue Holiday?

Entity

Hall of Famer
What would we have to give up to get Jrue Holiday? Good defender. good at setting other people up. Well I got an Idea

Kings get

Jrue Holiday
Elton Brand

76ers get

Beno Udrih
Carl Landry

Why for 76ers. They get rid of a huge contract and get a younger version of the player they wanted in Elton. give up a good pg but get a decent pg to replace him.

Why for kings. We get the guy next to Tyreke that we need good facilitator and defender who is also good sized and keeps our mismatches in the backcourt. Now we take on a big contract with an older still somewhat capable big that has the vet leadership and won't require alot of minutes there for JT gets a bit more time.

You really think the Sixers' problem is that Elton is too old? Or that 2nd year-Tyreke stopping-defensive guard Jrue Holiday is some kind of locker room cancer they can't wait to get rid of?

I don't think. I know. 76ers were trying to get rid of Brand in the offseason. Did he all of sudden get younger and healthier. Brand is a walking IR. Philly has won exactly 3 games with their current roster. Its not exactly running all over the league. They want change also. Id be willing to give up our 1st rounder this year as well as young pieces we have a plethora of.

Also Landry isn't really thiers if they do make the trade, he's a free agent in the summer anyways, so they're just about renting him if they do this.

More likely a trade package they'll make will invovle Iggy and Brand... can't see them shipping Jrue.

its not that they want anything in return for Brand they want the $48 mil over the next 3 years gone. basically we are giving up beno, landry and a 1st for jrue. now Jrue isn't exactly steve nash he isn't untouchable.

The Sixers are no more interested in shopping Jrue than we are in shopping Tyreke. Not even a remote possibility, sorry.

Philly have seen that a team with Beno, Landry, Nocioni, and Hawes well give only get 17 wins. So probably this trade won't happen.

The only incentive they would have to get rid of Brand is his salary of course. And its a big one. 16 mil this year and 17 and 18 mil for the next two years. So we would be taking on a big chunk of money in order to get Holiday. The one bright shining light in all of this is that Brand is playing pretty well this year. He averaging around 16 pt's and 8 boards a game and playing 32/33 minutes a game. So far an improvement on the last two years. I would just hate to caught in the same situation we were in with Webb.

I can see your point, and if Brand stays healty for the next two years, he's just as good a player as Landry, if not better in some areas. But its a risky trade.

I like Holiday's game a lot--he doesn't deal with that mid-range J like a lot of players tend to do, and he's a well-preferred slasher and takes a good share of threes--that's how I like my offensive players. Does a ton of stuff off the dribble, and hits a good share of threes off the dribble at a good clip. Gets to the basket at will, but finishing ability/free throw rate just average. Absolutely a pure point guard--he doesn't mess around with that combo guard stuff, yet he's a pure PG with a very nice scoring style of game--I really like that. Quick hands, better team defender than individual defender IMO, but very undisciplined defensively overall.

He's a bit raw, but with his compact scoring style, pure passing ability, some defensive potential, the fact that he doesn't overtly need the ball in his hands to succeed and his height, he's already pretty awesome. Based on my projections, If he's playing on bad teams, I think there's a certain ceiling, but if he's nurtured well he can be a very good super role player. The irony is that I've spewed a lot of vitriol on him back when he was a draft prospect. Needless to say he's exceeded expectations.

I don't see Philly trading him anytime soon, and anyway I get the feeling Iggy's the odd man out to make room for Holiday (they need to clear up one of their stat stuffers to have others shine--they have too many in Holiday/Iggy/Turner).

Hoiday is a nice player no idea why they would trade one of their better pieces unless we we're giving up Evans.

One thing about Holiday is that he isn't much of a leader. From our PG we need someone who is a leader and can get the team out of the funk, I really wish we had traded for Darren Collison when there was a chance. As a Bruin, I would take Collison over Jrue any day.

I've seen Brand in his prime, and I think Landry has a much better midrange game than Brand ever did, and I also think Brand was a much better defender than Landry. Even though Brand is undersized, he used to be a pretty good shotblocker.

Anyways, I'd obviously do the trade, but no way does Philly do it. If we actually are looking at PG's like the rumors suggest, then I agree with the poster above and wish we could have gone after Collison when he was available. O'Brien actually seems to like TJ Ford a lot this year, so who knows what could happen there.

Holiday is going to be a beast. He is untouchable though, I'm sure. What do you guys think about maybe trying to get Ty Lawson? I know he is supposed to be Chauncey's replacement, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to throw out there.

I've thought about this but I would assume the only way to even start a talk with Philly on Jrue is taking Brand's contract on.. Too expensive I would think even though we have the cap space to accomidate him right now

Brand in his prime vrs Landry in his prime is a no brainer. Brand bordered on consistent all star. He was a solid 20 and 10 guy that played pretty darn good defense. Even in his current state he's averaging around a block and a half a game. The main concern is his salary and his health.

Sixers aren't trading Holiday. He's goin to be one of the best players of last years draft when we look back on it after 10 or so years.

Yeah I didn't mention it in my post but Brand was a better offensive player too, just not from midrange IMO. He was basically somebody you could build a team around as a 2nd star. There's a reason why he got that big contract in the first place. Too bad about all the injuries

Man I imagine what was the hype around him after his rookie season.. I mean I wasn't into NBA that much then, but 20/10 as a rookie is sick.

Differnt time -- remember that when Elton came into the league he was 22 I think. It was right at the end of the era of the 4yr college player, and during that time coming in and immediately dominating was not that uncommon. They were grown men entering the league rather than kids.
