Its always dangerous in L.A.. In East L.A. you could get mugged. In South Central you could get mugged and shot. And in Beverley Hills you could get run over by Lindsay Lohan on a bender.

At a Clippers game you will be fine. In February 28 KingsFans from Southern California went to a Clippers games with Kings. Our group made more noise cheering than the entire Clippers fans in Staples arena. And all of us wore Kings T-shirts!!!!!

Some of our KingsFans group from south California, maybe 8 or 10, will be going to Clippers game on Monday, 6 December. If you wish you can join our group. I will buy all tickets together and each person will pay me.

When are you arriving? Where are you visiting? friends? hotel? ???

WHOOPS!! you are visiting in October 19-23. The Clipper game on 19 October is pre-season game. Do not know if any of our KingsFans in south California will go to that game. Maybe I go but .........??? Sorry for mistake. :)

You'll be fine. It's a clipper game.

I've worn a Bibby jersey to a Laker game a couple of years back and didn't even park in the parking structure, but rather at the extremely sketchy lot held by some Mexican guy a couple of blocks near Staples. All I got was heckling during the game, but it was all in fun since the Kings won :)

If you're gonna be touring L.A., you should be avoiding East L.A. and south central with or without Kings gear.

I wouldn't try it at a Laker game (unless you have reinforcements) but I doubt you'll have much of a problem at a Clippers game as others have said. There isn't a Kings-Clippers rivalry and the Clippers fans as a whole seem to be more civil than their Lakers fan counterparts. (They don't have the arrogance/entitlement that seems to come from rooting for a winning team in LA)

Sidenote -- I work right near the Staples center and I've never actually felt afraid for my safety anywhere in Los Angeles except for the day when the Lakers won the Finals. USC basically went on lockdown that evening -- nobody allowed on campus without valid ID. And that never happens.

I don't have personal experience with any of the LA area hostels, but the LA "area" is huge. Do you know what general part you'd like to stay in? There seems to be some hostels in Santa Monica and Venice Beach, which are both interesting beach towns, but maybe not near where you want to be located. Venice Beach is a personal favorite town. My brother lived there when he went to UCLA. Certainly a quintessential LA (California) experience there.

Sacramento actually has a very nice hostel in a totally remodeled, old 1885 house.
