Cousins Back for Team USA

I think Cuz will make the team if only to be available for a championship game against Spain. It seems Team USA plans ahead like that. All he has to do is shut up and do whatever Coach K asks. It will be hard for them to leave him off the team especially with the loss of Griffen and Love.

I like that John Wall was invited to participate this year. That's certainly going to help DeMarcus' comfort level as they always play well together. Last year the perception was still there that Cousins was a troubled player with a lot to prove. After the season he had and the stability new ownership brought to the Kings team in general, he's going to be judged only on how we performs on the court this time and that's a very good thing because we all know he deserves a spot on that team.

Team USA's blueprint of late has been defensive only bigs, and let the little guys provide the offense. Cousins is the first big I can think of in a while that has legit low post skills and bulk.

I hope he makes the team. Would be cool to see him and the 'Brow play together and have success, if only to show the F.O. that Cuz paired with an athletic shot blocker could, y'know, work.

And more Cousins news as it pertains to Team USA.

He get's an entire article to himself...and it's all positive which you love to see.

It really does look as if he's making an impression this summer.

indeed he is. i love this quote:
Demarcus Cousins said:
I think everybody has something to prove. You never want to just settle for whatever your last accomplishment was, so everybody here has something to prove.

if demarcus continues to improve both on the court and in the attitude he projects to the world around him, it's going to be hard for the kings not to win a smattering of games based on the sheer enormity of his talent alone. he didn't burst out of the gates as a rookie like shaq did, and he's certainly had his fair share of growing pains, but he's well on his way towards achieving dominance as the most talented center in the nba. his work ethic appears to be in top form, and he has a wicked determination to match. this is what you want to see from a young franchise player, a guy who may have been turned down by team usa twice, but comes back a third time with an even greater fire to prove that he belongs...

Remember when Richmond years ago was on Team USA and there were heavy rumors the guys there were telling him he needs to get to a better team, come play with them here or there, recruited him a bit?

That same situation could be happening now although I don't think at this time Boogie will be all that receptive. But players do talk, they recruit, they make plans. We've got to start winning. If this season is another where we're out of the playoff hunt come Jan/Feb, those whisperings in Boogie's ear might be remembered. A few guys from Lebron to Durant are talking pretty highly of him. We simply cannot be a non-playoff team unless it's a near miss. We've got to be competitive. We don't need or want a Kevin Love part deux situation and Boogie will not want to be at home watching all his Team USA teammates in the playoffs while he is not.

Been a concern from the beginning with Team USA stuff. I believe that all the Miami nonsense, and indeed much of the other pout my way off the team stuff was hatched in a poisonous den of snakes Team USA lockerroom full of corporate players whispering to each other and conspiring. To tell you the truth, while he deserves it, I am not even entirely comfortable with Wall showing up there. When do those Nene and Gortat contracts expire? Oh yeah, that's right.

So it goes back to that pressure for the Kings to actually put together a winner. Many Sacto fans don't even remember what that means its been so long since it mattered.

It's big news because the rest of the world is seeing the growth we saw all last season with his maturity. If you don't follow the Kings closely, you'd see his league leading tech #'s and one of the top personal Foul guys (i think) and just assume he hasn't changed.

USA likely plans to Small-ball PF, as they've done recently, but I still think you take Davis, Cuz, Drummond pretty comfortably as your bigs with Love dropping out. Any combo can play together, all 3 can play C when we go to likely KD-PG small-ball PF type lineups, and all 3 bring unique skill-sets that can compliment different lineups. Milsap and Faried are fine players, but they don't bring near the versatility of the other 3 guys and simply just aren't as good

Colangelo has said good things about Cuz and even the fact he has come back three years, he won't give up, has impressed him. I might add Fareid onto that list for an all purpose group of bigs. What a starting lineup with Cuz and Davis. It may not happen but if Cuz makes the team, he will undoubtedly be on floor on occasion with at least Davis or Drummond, rim protectors.

I loved Calipari talking about Cousins. Hopefully, more people will come to see the Boogie he knows so well. He talked about Cousin's loyalty and big heart. To paraphrase, "Ask the Sacramento community. When they ask Cousins to do something, he never says no."

All right, I have a crush on this kid. I love him. I hope he's with our Kings for a long time.

I think concerns are real but one of the undeniable qualities from big Cuz is his loyalty. If you show him that you have his back, he will make sure that he double protects yours.

While he has been in the league for 4 years now, he has only been with this front office and ownership group for a year. He trusts them, he likes them. He likes the coach and he sees that these guys are trying to make things happen. They ask him what his opinion is on certain moves etc... That's all great for us. But you are right, Wall would be chewing his ear off but lets not forget that this think can work both ways. Cousins might be recruiting some of thse guys to Sacramento. I know it sounds laughable but its not far fethed.

http://www.si.com/nba/2014/07/31/us...-kevin-durant-jerry-colangelo-mike-krzyzewski

Guy from SI put 12 man roster together and ranked them by how indispensable they are, he had Big Cuz at 6.

6. DeMarcus Cousins

I'm as surprised as anyone that Kings center DeMarcus Cousins ranks as high as he does on this list, but he just looks a cut above the rest of the bigs in camp, aside from Davis. Although personality and behavioral issues could always undo his roster candidacy in the blink of an eye, Cousins has regularly punished defenders around the basket this week, and he's easily the best-equipped to handle Spain's Marc Gasol, the USA's biggest individual threat, from a physical standpoint.

Above, Colangelo said that he might select "another big" as one of the complementary players, and that tag just might apply to Cousins. His sheer size offers a different identity from much of the rest of this roster, and it's easy to envision Krzyzewski preferring to deploy him situationally against certain match-ups so as to maximize his roster's versatility.

Don't think anything has been decided yet. Still may end up with Cuz getting screwed but there is time still.

your right but quotes from coach K dont sound too encouraging. Pretty shocking since everyone else has been raving about boogie's performance so far.
