Corliss Williamson for Hedo Turkoglu anyone?

Corliss Williamson for Hedo Turkoglu

Why Orlando might do it?

Having just traded Francis, it pretty much indicates that Orlando are rebuilding therefore by trading for Williamson's contract it gives them salary cap relief after next season.

Why the kings should do it?

Im still not too convinced with the bench we have, and i remember when he played here, he was solid coming off the bench. He can also play multiple positions, and with the uncertainties surrounding Bonzi staying or not after this season - it would be good have him around for insurance

any thoughts?

I'd definitely do it. Orlando also now has a good young SF in Ariza who is still developing, and fits into their future and style.

i'd do it, especially if we decided to trade bonzi wells for earl watson. then the lineup would all of a sudden be a lot more balanced outside of the PF/C position:

PG: mike bibby/earl watson
SG: kevin martin/francisco garcia
SF: ron artest/hedo turkoglu

the kids could split the minutes at SG. garcia is capable of playing the SF, but compare ron artest's 260 lbs to francisco garcia's 195 lbs. that's a huge difference in strength. garcia is shaping up to be quite the pesky defender, and i really like the idea of splitting the minutes at SG between martin and garcia if we were to trade bonzi wells. hedo would help bolster our bench shooting (he's shooting the best percentage of his career at about 43%), and he's not a bad defender, either. nothing spectacular, but he hustles.

Was never a fan of Hedo. No thanks. Although, I do want the Kings to get rid of Corliss. Just not for Hedo. I say Corliss for KG straight up. Ok, fine we will throw in J. Hart.

I like that alot, he is versatile and can shoot the long range, and could be quite effective in 15 mins a night. Then again he has a contract for 3-4 more years with the player option, and I kinda like the $6mil from Corliss dropping off our books after 07'

I'm curious to hear why people said they wouldn't want this deal. Could some of you please explain why you wouldn't like him on the Kings? I would personally do it but Orland would never do it. But then again, they are trying to get rid of alot of their salary and Corliss' contract is almost up...

This is a great trade for the Kings. We get anotehr bench guy that can help, but I am more concerned of the back-up PG, than the beack-up SF, right now though.

I'd do that instantaneously and without even a second thought. But why oh why would Orlando? That's roughly as unbalanced as Bonzi for Watson.

Ariza is the young heir apparent to Hill, not Hedo. Reports have always been thaty they've liked Hedo as a 6th man type, and why not? Hill's got a giant ending contract next year, and would not surprise me at all to see the Magic try ot move it at the next deadline, leaving Ariza and Hedo as the SFs.

how in the world could ANYONE pass on that deal?

Hedo is more versatile, bigger, quicker, a better shot, a better ball handler, a better passer, a better rebounder, a better fit for any defensive assignment either of them would be assigned to.

Corliss has a better post game.

(although I can see how y'all would be unwilling to chance this trade due to the vital role Corliss has played with the kings thus far this season)

Putting this info all onto the scale we end up with roughly:

......................................................................................................Corliss
.................................................................................................. -----------
..................................................................................-----------
..................................................................-----------
..............................................----------- /.\
HEDO.................------------ ........../.....\
------------------................................ /.........\

Hedo does not fit into the more athletic team that is currently being built. Pass.

Uh??

Seemed to fit pretty damn well on the championship level run n' gun Kings, and its precisely his athletic versatility to swing 2/3/4 which is so valuable off the bench. Not a bad athlete at all really, and a big, strong + long defender at the swingman spots.

Hedo for Corliss? Heck yes.

Hedo can shoot mid-range and the 3, runs really well and can bang and rebound. Maybe sweeten pot with 2nd rounder which could appeal to Orl in rebuilding mode.

Well, that's being rational and trying to make this happen. ;)

Unfortunately I don't think people understand that Hedo's value is >>>>>>>>>> than Corliss's at this point.

yeah, but does Hedo keep a diary ?

I'm against this proposed deal. I'm starting to realize just how valuable Corliss and Skinner are going to be as trade pieces next year. Teams are going to be furiously clearing cap space in anticipation of the 2007 offseason when a bunch of stars are going to be available (including Bibby). These expiring deals come at an absolutely perfect time, and I think the Kings can do better than Hedo, whether by combining Corliss and Skinner for a $10 million dollar star or separately for young players.

Also I'm thinking that Petrie might have had this in mind when he acquired Corliss and Skinner in the Webber trade.
