Big Nasty for Garcia?

From what Ive been seeing Garcia has done nothing to impress me. All he does is pointless 3's...

He is our backup sf, which is hard to believe for me.

This is what I would love to see:
Starters:
Pg: Bibby
Sg: Wells
Sf: Peja
Pf: Shareef
C: Miller

2nd lineup:
Pg: Hart
Sg: Martin
Sf: Big Nasty
Pf: K Thomas
C: Skinner

3rd string guys: Price, Garcia, Sampson

Big Nasty will give us toughness in the paint, rebounding, and defense....
I have no clue why Adelman isnt playing the playoff veteran with one ring on his hand..

anyone agree with me?

Play Big Nasty!!

Corliss may need to be traded, but while he's here he needs to be backing up Peja. When you're 4-5 and behind the 8 ball you can't exactly wait for the rook to mature.

I'm not a huge Corliss fan, but he is not totally worthless. The Pistons used him a lot better than we do.

What are you talking about? This is the perfect time to develop a rookie; you can't seriously believe that this team is going anywhere in the playoffs, can you?

Nope.

As others have pointed out, now is EXACTLY the right time to be playing the youngsters - for a change.

All too often, because the Kings were in such a hunt for HCA, etc. younger players have not been given a fair opportunity to learn the ropes, show their stuff, mature within the system, etc.

At this point, there is a good reason to play both Kevin Martin and Cisco Garcia. As our consecutive first round picks, they deserve a decent shot.

Corliss is a seasoned veteran. He'll do whatever he's asked to do when he's asked to do it.

IF this team is going to have any chance whatsoever of even playing past mid-April, they MUST develop bench players that can come in with at least some consistency and help the team. That doesn't happen if you relegate the young ones to the end of the bench and abandon them there.

Adelman is doing the right thing, not only for now but for the future.

Corlis seems pretty good to me. I suspect that Adelman will continue to do what he is doing now. He will play Cisco as much as possible, then put Corlis in when it gets too tough for Cisco. If Cisco fires up a bunch of three-point clangers, I think he will be benched.

I think Kevin may be a legitimate part of the line-up now. He does a lot of thing right, and consistently, so far.

Problem for Corliss is as much the rest of the team as Corliss himself. Garcia brings guard type skills, and our second unit, in theory, needs that a lot more than another tweener forward. Need the spacing Garcia's shooting COULD provide etc. Nobody else off the bench can shoot, and not many exceptional passers either.

I don't see why we can't play Corliss. Off the bench he can bring energy and toughness on the offensive board, and inside the paint. Bang around with the big guys. I never understood why Adleman doesn't like to use him.

Seriously, I think (rotation wise) 99% of us on here would do a better job than Adleman. I just don't like the guy, and how he mis-uses people. He can't get a good lineup flow going.

honestly i think neither one is comfortable with the kings offense.. in fact i dont think anybody on the bench is outside of maybe kenny.

When the starters leave, we have issues, but I dont think they spawn from lack of skill - the second unit just doesnt know how to play together - they dont always have peja bradbibbyevich to make it flow.

As far as Corliss vs Cisco, I just think RA senses that Corliss might not stick around, and cisco does have at least a 3 years in here... corliss is a far superior player by all accounts, except for the 3-point shot...

The only way Garcia gets better and learns something is if he plays. He will learn nothing sitting on the bench and not seeing any time on the court.

There are games where Corliss is a better match up and there are games where Garcia will get the nod.

I think our bench woes go much deeper than whether we play Corliss or Garcia.

The starting 5 are just now beginning to play together as a team. There was nothing for a bench player, much less a rookie, to come in and play to. Give Cisco some time. He is a tough competitor and a skilled player. Here in Louisville he was the undisputed team leader and took a team that wasn't supposed to perform that well to the final 4.

BTW, I have ben reading the Board since this summer. I think I am going to like being a Kings fan, although the lack of television coverage is driving me crazy. Thanks for the pbp thread.

I understand why Adelman is playing Cisco. Despite his struggles, he shows flashes of being a good ballhandler, passer and shooter. The guy has a real feel for the game. But beyond that, it has to do with the fact that Corliss is really only successful against certain matchups.

Williamson can be a handful to contain and can put up points quickly when matched up with a smaller or similar sized SF. But if the defense switches, he has a hard time against bigger guys and lacks the quickness to guard athletic perimeter players. Garcia is no athlete himself, but he has a good wingspan, solid fundamentals on defense and gives good effort. In time he will be an average to above average defender.

The other problem that Corliss creates with the second unit is that he needs to work baseline or in the blocks to be effective. Since Skinner can't hit anything outside of two feet and Kenny's jumper comes and goes, this clogs up the lane for the second unit and creates spacing problems.

When matchups allow it, I'd rather see Corliss come in for Shareef and play with the starters, as our bench doesn't really have the players to mesh well with his style.
