Berger: Kings seeking frontcourt help.

Really, if they are going through with this nonsense I am sooooo done with this idiotic team. The one time he actually had a chance to play 30 minutes and got the ball was against the Jazz, and he scored 15 with 8 rebs. since then and ever since that goof Corbin started coaching, he really had zero-chance of making an impact. So they're going to trade a rookie who never had the chance to start (unlike McLemore, who started the majoriy of last season) away from the team? Work with your prospects, improve them - don't send them away couple of months after you drafted them.

I'm begging of you Kings, do this so that I'll finally be able to say "screw you guys, I'm going home!" and feel good about it, I'm frustrated enough.
I'm 20 now, been a fan for 10 years ever since I knew what basketball is, but never was I so upset and tired of this team than in recent weeks ever since Malone got fired. I'm not even a huge Stauskas fan, but I do belive he's going to be something special if only he found some confidence in this rotten organization.
Your move, Pete.

Nik was a wasted pick IMO, but I guess I'm resigned about that mistake now. My bigger question, is: who exactly are they targeting? What other GM is going to trade anything if value for our spare parts?

Ps Nik is good guy and he hope he has a good career but I think we picked him too high.

What is the advantage of trying to trade Nik now when his value is rock bottom?

Anyone?

I agree we need a big man. I'm not against that. Just seems like Nik won't fetch much. So why leak this? I see only negatives.

This is one of those things that will just add to the narrative that this FO has no idea what they're doing. Waiting for the inevitable barb from Bill Simmons.
The reason for shopping Nik is that we have only two traceable assets: D-Will's expiring contract and Nik.

Our starting 5 is solid, #1 unit in the league defensively. You could argue that JT is tradeable, but he is overpaid relative to his talent, so we would undoubtedly lose value.

Same goes for Landry. Borderline talent on a bad contract.

Rest of the roster is marginal players on cheap prove-it deals who cannot conceivably net us decent assets.

We don't have a first round pick available for trade until 2019. We have convoluted protections on our picks for the foreseeable future. No GM is dumb enough to give real up value for a speculative pick that won't be conveyed for 4 years.

Do you think the Kings need more talent? Because I do. It's dumb to not at least put Nik's name out there and see what kind of offers you can get.

We need better shooting...lets trade our best shooter. Genius! Yes I know he isn't shooting a great percent, but it's only a matter of time.

Ugh, too bad Nik's trading value isn't very high at the moment.
Fortunately GM's don't thing the same way that fans do. Stauskas value is just as good now as it was the day we drafted him, and its all potential. Only fans watch a rookie play 12 minutes a game, take two or three shots a game, and think his future has been decided. Lest we forget, Dirk Nowitzki was booed more than once his rookie year. Amazingly he got better.

Not really too fond of giving up on Nik this early but I can understand what they are trying to do. He is a rookie and they don't want to wait for him to develop while the team is trying to win now. Gaining a valuable shot blocker and/or productive bench player or two could make this team that much more watchable. That being said, how many draft picks are they going to mess up? this is unreal.

I've been saying all along that I hated the Stauskas pick and was very disappointed they didn't take Elfrid Payton. Secondly, if they didn't want to pick Payton, then they should have traded down...that would have been my second option.

I'm of the opinion that Stauskas has such a limited upside, they need to deal him now. I still think he has some value since he's a rookie and has the cost controlled contract. I agree with others that he's not going to bring back what we probably want though. Pair him up with JT or Landry and that's about as good a deal as we can offer except the pairing up of Stauskas and an expiring DWill.

But please deal him......I don't think he's going to be the second coming of Ben....I don't believe in his lack of foot speed and I think he is mega soft......could care less if he's a rookie or not, dude is limited.

Sure, they can include Stauskas in a deal for an excellent player. No problem. Unfortunately, I've lost all trust in the FO to do anything worthwhile.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Nik yet. But what a reversal. Everyone in the front office loved the kid 6 months ago. It was borderline lunacy how much they loved him. They sure change their minds a lot.

It's really a sad state to see that the guys we target are flat out being waived. Smith, now farmar. Are we really that desperate?

I agree. These rumors are awful. It's not good. Just adds to the dysfunctional state of the franchise.
The rumor is that other teams have called about Stauskas availability, and up to now the Kings have said no. The fact that they're willing to trade him now, might have more to do with the player they have targeted, than how much they love Stauskas potential. It's obvious they've been trying to trade JT, without much success. Adding Stauskas might be the sweetener that gets the deal done. I like Stauskas and would love to watch him develop, but if we can get a good rim protector I'd be OK with trading him.

I'm thinking along the same lines. Nik+JT probably nets you something decent but Nik+Williams can probably get you something a little better depending on what the other teams outlook is.

Oh logic most likely.

But its only logic from the Kings side. The Nets ownership situation is as messed up as the Kings right now, moreso, but unless that somehow plays a factor Plumlee isn't going anywhere. that's us tagging exactly the very last player the Nets would ever trade.

Nik and DWill's ender together though could land us various more available pieces though, The standard available but not in very high demand types like Javale McGee and Jose Calderon etc.

What is scary to me is this wanting to trade JT I feel is just for a backup for cuz. Our PF would then be a blend of Landry and Williams
I dont think its that much of a problem if we get Lopez, we can Lopez or DMC on the court at anytime.

I will take Lopez even if he can only play 65 games a season. A front court of DMC/Lopez/Gay is just hard to turn down.

I'm all for rolling the dice on Lopez. If he's healthy, we have the talent to compete for the playoffs. If he's not, we are bad but keep the lotto pick, with the chance to be right back in the thick of things next year.

I'd be kind of bummed if we give up a recent lotto pick for a guy that can't stay on the court. It would also take away any salary cap room we had for next year.

Won't judge any deals until it happens as the only guy who should never be in trade rumors is Cousins. We aren't a good team, so always looking to improve is exactly what we should be doing.

Where we need to be looking is at teams with "buyers' remorse" on some of the contracts they signed this off-season. Lance Stephenson in Char. IT in PHX. Maybe something like IT+Miles Plumlee for D-Will+Stauskas or maybe you could get Zeller off of Char for taking Lance off their hands. Nik is a pretty good reward for getting to reset your cap with some of those team.
