In the days leading up to the NBA Draft, it had been widely reported that the Sacramento Kings were looking to make a trade and acquire a pick in the latter portion of the first round. On Wednesday night, the Kings did just that, pulling the trigger on a deal that sent the San Antonio Spurs' 2027 first-round pick (top-16 protected) to the newly-crowned NBA Champion Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for the No.24 pick in this year's draft. Sacramento used the pick to select Colorado State senior Nique Clifford.
