Berger: Kings seeking frontcourt help.

What is the advantage of trying to trade Nik now when his value is rock bottom?

Anyone?

I agree we need a big man. I'm not against that. Just seems like Nik won't fetch much. So why leak this? I see only negatives.

This is one of those things that will just add to the narrative that this FO has no idea what they're doing. Waiting for the inevitable barb from Bill Simmons.

Sweetening the pot with a guy making $2.75mil and averaging 3 ppg, on 33% FG and 27% from three in 14mpg doesn't make any sense.

PDA would make the worst chef ever.

"Alright first we're going to braise the pork real nice. And now for a little moneyball secret, to really sweeten the flavor, we're going to add a mound of rotten eggs on top. Just to make it real enticing."

LOL at people worried about Nik's confidence. SMH - what's he gonna do, contribute less? It could be just what he needs: throw care to the wind and just play. Plus, he'd probably feel better being on a a more functional team at this point, so I wouldn't necessarily assume it's bad news to him.

Yes. Declining to bring Reke back after replacing him with Ben, then a year later drafting another SG which our FO appeared ecstatic about, followed up by looking to move him only about 10 weeks into the season cries out "we're winging it and don't know what the hell we're doing, just making it up as we go".

That's because you don't see 3 steps ahead. Trust him, he's not an idiot. 3.0. Jazz hands.

Given the circumstances I'm not upset that D'Alessandro is exploring trades for Stauskas. Rather, I'm upset that these are the circumstances. The Kings would be buying high and selling low on Stauskas and that's frustrating. I hope PDA gets that. Because I know Danny Ainge gets it.

"Draft picks are always tradeable; players are not," Ainge explained. "Draft picks are always assets until sometimes they're drafted, until they become players, or until they become paid. I don't believe [you can have too many], no."
The Kings didn't have a lot of moveable pieces and that #8 pick was maybe the best of them beyond of course Cousins. If you're rebuilding then you keep the pick and trade pretty much everything else for cap room and more picks. If you're trying to win now then you trade the pick for veteran help. I would have preferred the former but there are merits to both strategies. But what you really should avoid at all costs is keeping your pick, drafting a kid who struggles and THEN try to trade him for veteran help.

Sheesh.

This. The lack of foresight this FO consistently demonstrates is terrifying.

This could be T-Rob all over again, in fact they could probably land Patrick Patterson as their stretch 4 frontcourt player:)........:(.

4 blown top 10 picks since 2009, YIKES!

Thanks for your vote of confidence and encouraging word for our front office. Your comments lead me to assume you know something that I don't. Cheers.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Nik yet. But what a reversal. Everyone in the front office loved the kid 6 months ago. It was borderline lunacy how much they loved him. They sure change their minds a lot.

It's really a sad state to see that the guys we target are flat out being waived. Smith, now farmar. Are we really that desperate?

I agree. These rumors are awful. It's not good. Just adds to the dysfunctional state of the franchise.
that gerbil is squirming bc he knows there isn't a hole lot of rope left around his throat. he needs to make a splash and i'll be damn he'll wreck the team right before he leaves if he can just like that idiot in cleveland who gave away what was it, 3 1st round picks for luol deng. gerbil is wearing the same desperate cologne right now.

Chicago gave denver their 16th and 19th picks in exchange for denver's 11th pick. I was SCREAMING to trade with Chicago. Chicago was desperately trying to move up to select their guy (mcdermott sp?) and gave up two first round draft choices in the teens to move up 5 spots. Hell, I would've love if chicago gave us our pick back and their 16th pick in the draft. We would've missed out on Nik but drafted someone that was very talented. And now I find it funny that they're giving up on Nik who only played 40 games with the Kings.
Once Embiid went #3 and Exum went #5 I was hoping for Payton, a trade down or a trade out of the draft completely. I figured the Stauskas pick HAD to be for someone else.

What's funny is that Nurkic was a guy I really liked. He and KJ McDaniels (and Dinwiddie) were my favorite sleeper picks. Can you imagine us with Nurkic AND our pick back instead of Stauskas? We'd have Boogie and then Bosnian Boogie spelling him. Or both at the same time.

If wishes were fishes, we could have a fry. Old news is water under the bridge and will not help Kings now. As posted in this forum may be a decent stretch-4 sitting under their very noses in:

Quincy Miller, Reno Bighorns, F, 6-10, 219 pounds: "He's still young and might be the best prospect (in all of the D-League) with his length, ability to play small forward and power forward, make 3-pointers and handle the ball, too."
