Berger: Kings seeking frontcourt help.

This is idiotic. What on earth can you get for Nik at this point? Even paired with such exciting players like dwill and Evans.

He only makes 2.75 million.

Spreading another damaging rumor. I'm sure this will raise Nik's confidence. Always great to let your team know anyone can be traded at any time.

Thanks for posting I was looking for the link. The 4 is a spot where we need a lot more from in terms of just skill/talent in general. As for returns Ryan Anderson would be ideal in terms of spacing but I'm not sure we the assets. Just don't it up Pete.

Unless you're dealing for another player on a rookie deal you'd almost have to pair him with another player. Evans and Williams have ending contracts. Sessions was in a trade rumor for Farmar who the Clippers just outright cut (to make room for Nate Robinson I assume) so it's not like he couldn't be a throw in to a deal.

I like Stauskas but I wouldn't have any issue with him being dealt for a PF that fits and is an upgrade, especially if it allows JT to be the backup C and defensive sub at PF.

That said, there are a lot more rumors/leaks coming out of this FO than during Petrie's tenure and I don't think that's a good thing.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Nik yet. But what a reversal. Everyone in the front office loved the kid 6 months ago. It was borderline lunacy how much they loved him. They sure change their minds a lot.

It's really a sad state to see that the guys we target are flat out being waived. Smith, now farmar. Are we really that desperate?

I agree. These rumors are awful. It's not good. Just adds to the dysfunctional state of the franchise.

I can't judge a deal until it's done. If it's for a stretch 4, I'm not going to be a fan most likely. If it's for a rim protector, I likely will support it but it means little until we actually have named and the deal is done. I'll also say about Nik, that I think he's going to be a pretty damn solid NBA player.

I do however think these constant and frequent intentional leaks from our FO is an extremely naive way of doing business. This has effects on players and the locker room, constantly hearing our players' names in trade rumors or that we're looking to move them. It's been JT, DC, Sessions and now Nik, all in the last couple months, Landry and DWill before that. Hey PDA, you can't build stability and have a locker room fighting together for a cause when you keep doing crap like this.

PDA is the one who turned over this entire roster aside from JT and Cuz. We're about 18 months into his reign here and numerous acquisitions of his are popping up in rumors where they're being shopped. It's like a monkey with ADHD running our FO. Every couple weeks he decides "eh, that won't work, time for a trade". Well Pete, you're the one who acquired most of these players. Maybe you should think a little harder before pulling the trigger on trades, then show more patience in allowing your acquisitions to mesh.

There is an extreme amount of instability in our coaching position and on our roster. It's ludicrous.

I'm certainly no GM or talent evaluator, but with that said, I wonder why the kings didn't trade back with Chicago? If they would've done so, they could've gotten their pick back and a pick in 2014. (somewhere in the teens) And since Jay Bilas said that the 2014 draft was "the deepest draft in terms of quality talent that we have seen in a long, long time. " (
) -starts at the 4:00 mark.

Chicago gave denver their 16th and 19th picks in exchange for denver's 11th pick. I was SCREAMING to trade with Chicago. Chicago was desperately trying to move up to select their guy (mcdermott sp?) and gave up two first round draft choices in the teens to move up 5 spots. Hell, I would've love if chicago gave us our pick back and their 16th pick in the draft. We would've missed out on Nik but drafted someone that was very talented. And now I find it funny that they're giving up on Nik who only played 40 games with the Kings.

This team needs scoring help. There's a great article about the Kings 3pt shooting. Nik is raw and probably won't contribute on any team for 2-3 more years. His only job on the kings is to knock down 3pters, he struggles to do that. Good approach if we are looking to win within the next 2-3 years with a proven PF.

This years draft will be deep too. Too bad we won't have our pick

The Landry and Stauskas for Larry Sanders deal I proposed early this year is a possibility, though his mysterious "personal issues" make such a deal unlikely for the time being. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out a realistic trade though, just look for young teams that don't have any prospects at SG. The Bucks look like a strong contender for that reason. Possibly some kind of trade with Charlotte swapping Stauskas (and pieces) for Lance Stephenson who was on the block early this year. They need shooters and Lance could be an ideal 3rd guard for us if his attitude can be reigned in. That's not a big obviously, but he could fill our second biggest need and his third year is a team option so the contract is friendly. Philadelphia needs shooters. Portland could use a better backup SG. Actually, there aren't very many teams out there that might want Stauskas and have something else that we might want. There also aren't a lot of "above the rim" defenders anywhere that teams are willing to give up.

Didn't realize Nik was such a deal breaker previously... I don't know how I feel giving up the next Kobe.

In all seriousness I doubt Nik Stauskas will all of a sudden be the reason we land a real number 4 next to Cousins. And how about some privacy? You know keeping things close to the vest? What little confidence Nik had is gone now, as well as his trust. If a trade rumor leaks out you better be signing on the dotted line already otherwise it becomes awkward for all parties.

The first paragraph should be in chapter 1 of General Managing 101. Don't leak the name of a player you are shopping. It kills morale.

The ADHD comment is priceless.

Yes, this probably killed any chance of Nik having confidence. I'd rather hold on to him and see how he evolves.

I proposed something like this yesterday - Pete must be reading my posts :

While I was thinking about Gobert, Stauskas for Kanter makes sense for both teams. Kanter is an RFA and the Jazz need to clear out a front court log jam, and also happen to be in a full-blown youth movement and in need of a SG. With Ben blowing up this year, the SG position is locked down and Stauskas is a little redundant for us
