Alright, we got the 8th pick, options...

I don't doubt that, but having said that, all the prospects use that line.
He has a pretty good track record in international and HS all-star games showing a lot more versatility. College guards aren't really known for passing to bigs, either. Coach Cal definitely put the reigns on him a little bit.

He'll be fine in the NBA, with potential for more.

I have a weird feeling the Kings are high on Randle, and are being really quiet about it. He was a beast in the tourney and I don't know why he isn't being considered to go higher.

And was doubled and some times triple teamed. And in the college game he can't show his elite first step.

That's a good point. As heralded as Kentucky's draft class was, Randle was really the only threat on that team most of the season. He got a lot of defensive attention.

I'd love to get Payton, and I'd take him at 8 too. Of course it would be better if we could trade down, get some assets and then draft him.
I'd take him at 8 as well IF i kept the pick. That's probably one of the most unlikely "if's" of this years draft. PDA wants to trade that pick. After landing the #8 pick the kings immediately came out and said they wanted to trade it.

As always, consider the source:

The Cavs, Kings and Celtics are in trade talks involving Rondo to Sacramento an unnamed players to Cleveland & Boston getting the 1st Pick.

If it were legit you might be able to get into the range of possible there with the combined Ben/#8 on our end, and then Jeff green/#6/#17/Sullinger etc. type assets on their end. Not taking all of them mind you. Just if Cleveland was not entirely sold on Parker/Wiggins, you might be able to make it happen.

P.S. Checked the source, does not look bad. Can't tell if they have any insight, but aside form one assertion that Parker had a guarantee at #2, it was all solid/true/known news. Interesting.

I wouldn't touch Randle. Partly that's because I think he's a poor front court mate for Cousins but mostly because I have serious concerns about him as a prospect. He measured tall enough but his wingspan and standing reach are below average which is a big deal given his style of play. He gets a lot of Zach Randolph comparisons but Z-Bo, while actually shorter has a much longer wingspan and standing reach that lets him get shots off inside. Yes, Randle flashed more of a jumpshot and face up game in high school but if his bread and butter game of attacking the basket isn't successful in the NBA I don't think he can become more perimeter oriented (following a Corliss like career arc) and be a great player.

And that's also because defensively he's weak. He was not a good one on one defender and was often out of position in the team defensive scheme. He doesn't have quick hands or great anticipation or the length and athleticism to challenge shots. You can see that in game footage and his steal and block rates verify it.

So for Randle, it's really boom or bust as to whether he can be an inside force in the NBA. And we'll find out as early as summer league. If he can then he could be in contention for ROY on the right team and with enough touches because he'll put up scoring numbers. If not, then I think he's going to struggle to carve out an NBA career.

I'm on record as wanting Payton. My hope was that the team could trade back and get him but I'm not sure that's the case anymore.

Starting to worry a little bit Ainge knows something about Rondo that the Kings do not... ;)

Eh, Ainge has shown that he's always willing to blow it up and start over. I think had they been able to land Love they'd keep Rondo. But without a running mate it's time to just pull the plug and rebuild.

Ainge knows that scoring the #1 pick in supposedly the best draft in a decade trumps a 28yr old PG coming off a knee surgery who's going to be a free agent in a year and will be 30 before your rebuild starts bearing any fruit.

Per @KBergCBS, Kings have made calls to teams ahead of them in order to move up in hopes of drafting Joel Embiid cbsprt.co/1iHv2cu

Interesting...
As I mentioned a couple of days ago, life with a Gerbil is far more interesting than life with a Geoff.

Also of course totally and completely putting the lie to all the excuses made for Geoff over the years that you just can't get things done. Yeah, you can't when you have a slug mentality and wait wait wait, snooze, wait some more, and do as little as possible just to affirm that you still have a pulse and won't end up one of those people who wake up in a mortuary somewhere because everybody thought they were dead.

OK, so the Kings are literally exploring every option and every NBA player and draftee...

Ooh ooh! A mad lib! love mad libs! Even better is that party card game...that I can't think of the name of right now that works on the same principle. So very very wrong and hilarious with the right group.

So, let me take a shot at this:

Kings have made calls to Oklahoma City in order to acquire Kendrick Perkins for DeMarcus Cousins in exchange.

Actually, how about:

Kings have made calls to Oklahoma City in order to acquire Reggie Jackson and Lamb for the 8th pick and Carl Landry in exchange.
